Foster Freeze

The car club meets here every Thursday. The crew here always serves us with a smile. Burgers are great and always just as you want. Don’t skimp– get the milk shake the onion rings won’t hurt either. I always look forward to Thursday night. Thanks guys for putting up with us.

We hardly ever order any of the sandwiches from them but my daughter loves the hot dogs from here a whole lot more than across the street. All the food is made to order which is a plus.
I can say that the soft serve ice cream is great! I personally love it because over the years it is the one thing that has always stayed the same. It’s consistent.
Service is ok. Suitable for a fast food joint.

This burger joint is not what it used to be. The soda was stale, the burgers are disappointed, you can tell they use thin frozen patties that are not tasty or meaty. The fries and ice cream are great though. For the same price you are better off getting a burger at a fast food joint.

Best place for soft serve ice cream treats!!! and the burger and fries are made and served fresh. Better then Brody’s or In And Out Burger… but the down size is its wake up only at this location. We still go when we want a real ice cream treat or the weather is nice and we can sit outside.

This place is an institution! Just came with my daughter for a late lunch. Spicy Chicken sandwich with Onion Rings, and a Crispy Chicken sandwich with Waffle fries, delicious! Yum, yum, yum! Soft serve, amazing! I highly recommend it!!!

This Foster Freeze is at the corner of the busy Fourth Street and the quieter Junior Street, with a driveway on each street. I pulled onto Junior Street since I figured it would be easier to enter on the less busy street. That turned out to be an exit only.
The windows are on Fourth Street, so I waited for a few minutes for them to take my order. The staff at the window wasn’t too friendly when she took my order. She wasn’t exactly rude, but she just barely said anything.
I ordered the Big Boss, which was a beef patty with Swiss and American cheese, bacon, onion rings, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and special sauce. That came with small fries and a soft drink, but I upgraded the beverage to a shake.
It took a while for my food to get prepared. It’s probably an okay wait for people sitting and chatting at the table, but I was alone waiting on the sidewalk, so I got impatient. Several people who came after me got their ice cream before I got my food.
The tables are outside only and I decided to eat there. The tables are all carved up, so they don’t look very nice. The traffic is really loud, so it would be tough to have a conversation while dining. The parking spaces are about two and a half feet away from the tables, so if a car put their tires against the cement blocks it would be a foot away from customers eating.
The burger was very big and very good. No complaints at all about that. The fries were fine. The shake was a little disappointing, but it was probably more authentic and less manufactured than typical fast food chains.

This is the old-​style type of Foster’s Freeze which used to be all over the place but then largely vanished only to have more «modern» cookie-​cutter fast-​food places pop up calling themselves Foster’s Freeze but no different from any other new fast-​food place.
It has a window on the sidewalk with a lattice-​covered eating area outside. It has the usual old-​school Foster’s soft-​serve ice cream plus simple old-​school burgers and fries, etc. It’s hardly top-​notch, but it has always been an enjoyable place with at least some old-​fashioned charm and good soft serve.

This Foster’s has decent food and inconsistent customer service; the hours listed aren’t aren’t always followed.
The hot dogs, soft serve ice cream, shakes, and some of the burgers are good. Though I’d skip the grilled cheese and depending on the day you might get good fries. Outdoor seating on the East side, indoor covered on the west.
Though it says «no public restroom» by law if you offer indoor eating at the business you must have a public restroom.
Like I said, a little inconsistent.

Major let down. I stopped here after passing this location up numerous times and decided today I would try it out. The only good thing here that I had was a root beer float. 2 stars for that! I also got the Big Boss combo and all I can say is… flavorless! The onion rings and bacon I thought would be a hit but what it was was a waste! No flavor! I never leave food but threw away ¹⁄₃ of my burger and almost all of the fries. Again, no flavor. What’s wrong here! I wanted a greasy, sloppy, tasteful yum and I got a rip off. So sad! I’ll stop here just for the floats in the future, but not for the food! Bah Hum Bug!

LIARS! Called them to check the hours, was told they closed at 10pm but when I got there at 9pm they turned off the lights saying they were closed

They claim to be open until 10pm. That is a lie. I got there at 930pm and they were turning the lights off saying they were closed.

I revert to being 8 years old when a good corn dog is on the menu. Add a soft serve vanilla cone and I’m in childhood-​memory heaven.

Tasty fast-​food place. I always enjoy whatever I get, be it hamburgers, fish and chips, etc. I like the convienent bench outdoor seating to the side of the building — good for watching people and traffivchowing down and watching
Tip: They have THE BEST soft serve ice cream cones — definitely get it chocolate dipped!

It is hard to say anything bad about soft-​serve ice cream. I get the small size, which is more than enough for me.

Takes me back 20 years! I grew up eating here and the quality and service has always great. Despite the previous reviews, this is a basic burger drive in. Great location with a great retro building. They don’t make burger places like this anymore.

Very suprised to see the good reviews on this place. Burgers and fries are better at In-​N-​Out. My burger was dry and gray. My grilled onions were raw. The fries were okay, but not as good as In-​N-​Out. Chocolate chip milkshake was good.
Wouldn’t go back.

The big glass windows in the front give you a clear view into the kitchen. And it’s not pretty.
This has got to be the dirtiest, grossest kitchen outside of a TKE frat-​house. I dare you to step up to the window and order food from this place.
The property owners have let this corner of one of Santa Rosa’s nicest neighborhoods go to absolute shit.
And all I wanted was a nice chocolate dipped vanilla cone. Sheez.

Seeing this place brought fond childhood memories of similar burger joints to mind. Deuce milkshakes and a burger. Took a bit of time since they prepared the burger fresh, I could see the cook flaming the burger. Char is yum. A little pricey but worth the wait. Since they are located on a common thoroughfare with an attached parking lot, it’s easy to stop and grab. The strip mall is bare of business so there’s always ample parking. If you choose to stay they have covered and uncovered seating available.
I don’t like calling out people on their reviews, but to call something lame because of how they choose to bag burgers and fries. Seriously? Darling, all fast food and the like, put the fries on top of the burgers.

This is not the type of food I eat anymore but as a kid, my friends and I would walk to Foster Freezer and get food or ice cream. I don’t really know another place in Santa Rosa like it. It’s super ghetto but the food was usually good the it was convenient to grab a frosty. When you’re a kid and don’t have cleanliness standards it’s a great place.
