I hate taking to Unilocal, and I know it sounds hypocritical, but this was one of my worst experiences in a restaurant ever. Our server ignored us for about 8 minutes and was outright rude from the start. When we did get a greeting it was«what do you want». Then I received the wrong order and the response was non apologetic and rude. She did get me the correct order to be fair. This older female server seemed to relax when her section reduced down to 2 tables from 5. Maybe she shouldn’t get a section that she can’t handle. I have eaten at Mary’s many times and expect better than this.

I went on probably one of the busiest nights of the week. It hasn’t been the first busy night I’ve come here. Previous visits were a better experience. My waitress was forgetful and forgot on multiple times to bring me what I asked for. The wait time just to get my drink was lengthy. She also failed to return my bank card right away. TooI hate not giving 5 stars because the food is always amazing. The service was not.

I am very disappointed with the downtown Mary’s tonight. I have been eating at the Summerfield Mary’s for 20+ years and my family for even longer. However I have now moved across town and am closer to downtown, so I’ve been going there. It has never lived up to the other Mary’s in my opinion, but I’ve blamed that on them being busier downtown or just different cooking styles. Tonight, though, the service was just inexcusable. First of all, when I called to place my order for delivery the man on the phone was VERY curt and rude. I am a polite, respectful woman who does not deserve that treatment on the phone from a business I am giving money to. I blamed the curtness on them being busy, again, but when my order arrived wrong and the delivery boy was extremely rushed and didn’t seem trained in what he was doing, that is not okay. My food is cold, my breadsticks are overcooked, my pizza has hardly any cheese on it, and I was jipped the ice cream on the brownie sundae I asked for. Will not be ordering from the downtown location again.

Just had lunch there… a mediocre salad with a turkey sandwich that was downright disappointing on so many levels. Not the Mary’s of the old days…

Had a pretty bad experience at the downtown Mary’s the other day. While I will say the staff was very polite, the service speed and food delivery was terrible. This is at 2PM and the restaurant is not full at all and there was plenty of staff around. I made reservations for 8 so they knew we would be there and it still took over 45 minutes for our food to arrive and then it was clearly rushed and came out in numerous waves over a 10 minute period. I noticed a table that came in well after us had food first, too. I think our waiter failed to multitask his area and either he got our order in horribly late or the kitchen screwed up. And he committed the ultimate insult after I started worrying him about getting our food in time: He said it would be out in «minutes» when in fact it was still 10+ later on that it started. Again, he was polite enough but the incompetence of the service was blatant and unforgivable. And on top of this the food in general was met with a lukewarm reception by the crew. Mary’s used to be a reliable place for our family but after this I am never going back.

Pretty solid choice for pizza, nothing super spectacular, but then again what is a small town if it doesn’t have at least three options for Pizza?!

Once in awhile, rather than just bringing home a Costco pizza or baking up a frozen Dijourno, you might feel inclined to take the family out to pizza instead, but definitely don’t want to go some place too fancy that your smartphone addicted kids won’t appreciate anyway… that’s where Mary comes in. Not cheapass, but not fancy either. Good for a high school or college first date, but probably not if you’re in your 30s and up. $ 10.50 for a large Mary’s Signature Salad… pretty good, nothing crazy. Easily shared between three people. $ 10.50 for a half liter of Sangiovese(red wine)…very nice! $ 25.95 for a large Mary’s Combination Pizza… this is definitely better than Costco’s $ 10 supreme pizza, but I don’t think its 2.6 times better to justify the high price. Maybe $ 20? Above average… but then again, like sex and phở, there is no such thing as «bad» pizza.

I was in town for work and super hungry. I had heard about Mary’s before so I decided to give it a try. I ordered the pesto pomadoro and a side of the mozzarella garlic bread. The pesto was delicious but the bread was burnt and not very appetizing. I’ll definitely give this place another try.

I’m being generous by giving one star. This was a horrible experience. Not even sure where to start. But To start the hostess was not helpful nor friendly. It took 20 minutes to place our orders. And another 20 minutes to even get our salads which were incorrect and brown. After asking the waiter for what we ordered he said we have a full house tonight. He left and came back with another incorrect salad. We asked about our appetizers and again he said we have a full house tonight. He left and came back about 10 minutes later with some of the entrees and still no salad. We asked again about our appetizers and again he said we had a full house. So as we are telling the manager we were going to leave they brought our other entrees and still no salad or appetizers. Then as we are leaving he is trying to give us pizza. We will not be back to the 4th St location. Almost an hour with no food and not even one apology. We walked down the street to Persona and were blown away by the pizza, service and freshness of the salads

Came in on my lunch break to order something fast, walked in no host, grabbed my own menu, I go straight to the bar. No service from the bar or the waitress working there. When I get annoyed enough to walk up to this girl she has a horrible attitude as if I’m bothering her and tries to correct me on what I had originally asked for. I could also tell she was distracted because somebody she knew personally was there and she was having a conversation with them instead of doing her job. Management offered me free food, nice but no thanks I would prefer that people just do their job with no attitude, quickly. I don’t recommend anyone working in downtown Santa Rosa go here on your breaks or lunch.

This one has come a long way! I am happy to say that this is one of my favorite locations now. 1) I love the full bar. 2) The service has come a long long way. 3) The food is really really good now at this location. So perhaps they have taken some of my past advice. Standard menu — I love the tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwhich lunch special, and of course you can never ever go wrong with the he and she. The hot wings are pretty tasty, and the drinks are great. The salads are nicely put together, and the tables are clean! The bar is clean! It’s nice to go somewhere that the staff actually picks up after the customer leaves, and resets it for the next group and it’s done correctly! Go Mary’s!

Ok, I’ve been a regular at Mary’s for the past 15 years or so. We used to go to the Summerfield location where we pretty much always received good service and a good experience. But since we found out that Casey, the manager, went to the 4th St. location, we started venturing to that one more often. She always has a warm smile to greet us and makes sure everything is fantastic. I am giving 2 stars, not because of any lack of service from her, but because our experience last night for my son’s birthday was sub-par. First off, with only 2 groups including us in the restaurant, around 5:15pm, I expected a lot more attentive service from our waitress. When my son spilled his entire apple juice across our table, we sat there with a lake of juice dripping down into our laps because the server forgot about us after I’d asked her to bring a towel over. So, I grabbed the hostess who forgot even after wiping off our neighbor’s table, and when I reminded her, she brought out ONE napkin. REALLY? I handled the clean up myself. Our salads had come and I know enough to ask for my dressing on the side, my partner forgot, so he had what appeared to be only a teaspoon on his entire plate. What upset me the most, was when our sandwiches came out and I gasped at the difference in portion size. It looked like it had been shrunk with a shrink ray from a cartoon! When I questioned it with the server, she said they had«changed their bread.» Well, then they must have changed the amount of turkey on their«Turkey Supremo» as well because it was paper thin and falling apart when I picked it up. For 10.50, I could make myself a much better sandwich at home. I was truly dismayed. There was also a mix up of whether I’d ordered bacon on my sandwich, which I thought came with it, so hey, I’m already upset with the smaller, less filled sandwich to begin with. Why not just bring me 2 pieces of bacon? Nope. I had probably a teaspoon of pesto that I’d asked to be added for 1.25. Not doing that again either. My plate went with her and then I told her to just bring it back. By that time, I was too hungry to care. By no means will this prevent us from coming back to the 4th street location, which has a full bar and happy hour deals, but I think from now on I’ll make sure we remember not to order the«new bread» sandwiches, and stick with pizza. Their food is still very good and I don’t want to discourage people from coming, but I do want to relay that consistency is key and we did not get that last night.

Many people get excited about eating here, NOT me. It doesn’t matter when you arrive; it can be crazy busy or slower than a snail, but getting food to come hot never happens. If you’re going to eat here: 1. Bring plenty of snacks 2. Order more than you think you can eat that way when you decide to take leftovers you won’t be waiting, waiting again for the never hot but made to order food. Finally, 3. Don’t think you can out smart the WAIT by ordering a salad or pizza dog; it won’t work!!!

We found ourselves hungry in downtown right at closing time for most restaurants(9:30) so were happy with Mary’s late hours. We got the large veggie pizza with pesto sauce and a signature salad with ranch. The salad was simple and surprisingly delicious! Simple greens, carrots, beets, mushroom, onion, and egg — nothing fancy and yet so good. It comes deconstructed so next time we’ll ask if they can toss it before plating. The pizza was very good, though pesto is naturally greasy so we did eat it with knife and fork. We had a lot to take home with us for leftovers. Place was very large and mostly empty. Waitress was attentive. Place looked clean.

Gf & I sat at a table in the bar area on a Sunday afternoon in order to watch the Cavs-Hawks playoff game. Korey R., our server(as well as the bartender), hustled his tail off. He obviously takes his job seriously & prides himself in offering top notch customer service. He brought me a taste of the Heretic ale(Evil Twin, maybe?) that was on tap. Great stuff, but it was just too early in the day for me to start drinking. Our Romana pizza(imported Italian artichoke hearts, oven-roasted tomatoes, feta and mozzarella cheeses on a layer of fresh basil pesto) was outstanding. None of those hard-to-chew sun-dried tomatoes or half-inedible artichoke hearts out of a jar. Toppings were ample but not ridiculous in quantity – just the right balance. Our spinach salad(with walnuts, raisins(?), cranberries, red onions and crumbled blue cheese) was just right. The dried cranberries weren’t those crappy over-dried ones some places use, and the bleu cheese was mild & creamy. I didn’t see any of the red onions, but I’m not a big fan of raw onion, so it worked out just right. I was skeptical about the tamari dressing, but it was quite good.(The Caesar salad also looked good.) One minor down side – they didn’t slice all the way through the pizza. Made it a bit of a struggle, as we had to cut through it with butter knives. Great atmosphere. It was peaceful & quiet, considering that it’s a busy pizza joint with a full bar. Kudos, Mary’s!

I have to say that I really love Marys pizza, but their service in the 4th street location is absolutely horrible. The hostess frequently goes missing for long periods of time leaving guests standing at the front door wondering what to do. Then as you stand there, no one acknowledges you to let you know that help is on the way. Service is so slow. The bartenders seem to be the only ones who give prompt service… so if you are looking forward to some delicious Marys food, sit at the bar– your experience will be much better.

Our party of 5 adults &2 young kids(2&4) were so happy with our meals. Pasta & chicken for the kids, salads, pizza & beer for the adults. Kudos to the server who quickly brought out crayons & beer — good call. It was our 1st time to Mary’s & we were very happy with the pizza(Mary’s Original).

Visiting Santa Rosa for the first time. Came to the downtown area looking for a place to eat lunch. Russian River was packed, so I wandered down the street and found this place. I ordered the lunch spaghetti with a big meatball. I also ordered breadsticks because the table next to me was raving about them. My spaghetti came out first(?) and it was really bland with no flavoring. So, I was hoping the breadsticks would be better. They weren’t. They were simply breadsticks with no flavoring on them at all(no butter, no olive oil, nothing). The marinara sauce was ice cold also. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because the service was actually good(besides my food coming out out of order). I wouldn’t recommend this place, well, at least for spaghetti and breadsticks any way.

Been here twice in the last two months and have had great food both times The meatball sandwich is a great choice — you start with a salad, and the sandwich will allow you to save half for lunch the next day!(or just be stuffed at dinner!) I know I’m not the only one who loves eating cold pasta leftovers :-p I got a hot turkey sandwich on the second visit, and it was the perfect amount of food, especially beginning with the minestrone soup. Unfortunately they put mayo on the sandwich when I asked for it without, but it was still super delicious!(The server was nice enough to blame the kitchen, letting us know usually it’s her fault, but this time it was theirs… that was weird, but I let it go) Good selection of beers and wine to supplement the meal as well. Can’t wait to go back and try more on the menu
