THEWORST ever. Dealing with a dying mom and he chooses to yell at me when I call the office after hours to try and figure out what to do and gets paged. I am taking my mother out of the Sutter Health system — also the worst and moving her to St Joseph’s in this area where the doctors are wonderful and kind. When this is all said and done I’ll write my story of my mother and my treatment in this system THEY call health care. What a joke.

Dr. Duncan is the best neurologist ever! He is extremely conscientious, caring, knowledgeable and well connected with other professionals in the Bay Area. My life changed for the better because of him. I have been treated by more than five other neurologists in the past but they do not compare to Dr. Duncan’s manners and knowledge. He is a consummate professional!

Max Duncan was my neurologist for about a year and a half and he was always kind and helpful to me. I have MS and I found him very helpful and very approachable. Max Duncan was always there for me, always willing to go the extra mile. He was very kind and kind to me. I moved out of the area or I would have stayed on as his patient!

I just got off the phone with his assistant, Pilar. I hope Dr. Duncan reads this & takes it seriously. I asked her if Dr. D works with MS patients, with a you-are-so-stupid tone, she cheerfully & quickly said, he’s a neurologist, so he works with MS patients. I explained that I am looking for a doctor who’s speciality is MS patients. She repeated what she said before. I asked if he is familiar with the CCSVI protocol because we are looking for a neuro that does this in Marin County, she said you’d have to ask him that in a consult. I explained that it would take a lot of time & money to see every neurologist in Marin before we could find out if they are familiar the procedure we want to discuss. She said she didn’t know how she could tell me that until the doctor did a consult. When I finally gave up on her, she cheerfully said, you’re welcome! Pilar is woefully untrained. If the doctor thinks it’s more important for his assistant to be cheerful than helpful, it undermines my confidence in him. It’s sad because I would definitely have liked to know the answers to my questions. Sutter Health Medical Foundation, Marin County, Neurology, Neurologist

(this review is more about his assistant) While I really liked Dr. Duncan, the follow up through his assistant was horrendous. If a patient asks for something and you say«ok», wouldn’t it make sense to actually do it and follow through? And maybe not hang up the phone on the patient when they call to follow up? Just sayin’… So…the 5-star doc gets 2 from me because of the poor customer(patient) care provided by his staff.
