I am a little leery of some of Santa Rosa’s Chinese restaurants, but I was really hungry and have been craving Chinese for about 2 years(since a bad experience at another place). I have to say that May Garden is pretty darn tasty! It’s clean inside, the prices are fair and the lady working there was really nice. I tried the Mongolian Beef(a little dry) and some vegetable chow mein. Overall I thought it was really good and I will be going back! I finally found a place that ended my 2 year hiatus from Chinese :)

Looked May Garden up on the Internet. Said it was open till 9:30 so drove over there was 8:50. When arrived there was an OPEN sign, walked in and was told they were closed, but will make an order to go. Ordered to go it was not that great, disappointed actually. :(. won’t go back again.

Yikes! My wife sent me there to pick up food to take home. We have been going there for a number of years. Never thought of it as great, but just average. Well, I ordered Szechewan beef(listed as spicy hot), Walnut prawns, a spicy hot chicken dish and refried rice with vegetables. We sat down to eat it and the beef and chicken dishes had no spicy hotness whatsoever. Otherwise the chicken dish did taste good. The refried rice was ok. The beef dish was like chewing beef jerky. Last weeks refrigerator dried out beef. We gave it to the dogs. Didn’t even get the walnut prawns I ordered. Got 8 deep fried prawns with coconut sauce on the side. Was asked how many fortune cookies i needed. I replied«4». Received 2! Absolutely 3rd rate food. Paid over $ 40 for the 4 dishes. Ripped off!!! What is their problem? Will never go there again!

Very overpriced. Been here 4 times because it’s close to my home. I keep hoping it gets better. Cheap on the meats. Doughy pot stickers… Not sure how they got the four stars here.

Friendly service and great soups! The dishes are tasty and not overly salty. Pricing is fair and they have great lunch specials.

Everything is delicious from your appetizers to your main course meals. I really like the food here, and I am super picky about Chinese Food! They are a bit pricier than other places I’ve been too but honestly it is worth the money. Chinese food is one of my favorite food items and I have tried a lot of places in Santa Rosa, and Rohnert Park and I am telling the truth when I say its the best in town!

I have to say — this place is everything I have ever wanted in a Chinese food restaurant. They always know what I want when I show up, they recognize my voice when I phone in my order, their prices are great and their service is amazing! Seriously, what more could you want? We can eat here once a week!

The best mu shu pork I’ve ever eaten. Got all food to go and ate the whole order myself. Sorry family. We loved all the pork and chicken dishes however, the beef dishes failed. Had both broccoli beef, and Mongolian beef. Both dishes had limp soggy pieces of beef, that were chewy and disgusting. Stick to the chicken and pork.

Ordered pressed duck after it was described as crunchy and good… It came out and we did not know what it was as it looked like brown brownies with almond slivers on top… Tried a bite of it and did not like it. Told waitress who offered for us to order something else, which we declined as we ordered other food .bill came to $ 96.00 and although we packaged leftovers to go with exception of the pressed duck with two bites missing. She refused to remove the charge for it, saying the kitchen had to cook it… Not normal customer service that I have experienced when ordering such a large order and in a similar situation. Will not return due to this. Other than this food was fresh and good, smaller portions but wait staff was slow…

we went there for the last time yesterday. we ordered from the dinner menu, mongolian beef, orange chicken, house fried rice, egg rolls, house chow mein, to eat there, and a large sizzling rice soup to go. we’re familiar with sizzling rice, this was totally different; it came in 2 containers, each only 2⁄3 full, with only 1 shrimp cut up, and the usual chicken, a small amount of chopped zucchini, and a couple of chopped mushrooms, and the rice; no boo choy, bbq pork, or anything else. the meal that we at there came in small amounts, just so-so. the total price was $ 75.00! $ 75.00!

First time here so to sum it up: Vegetarian spring rolls were great Vegetarian chow fun noodles were good and slightly sweet. Vegetarian egg foo yung was great, very good gravy. Tofu family style was good. All the dishes were very fresh and light on the sauce which is nice knowing that all the calories aren’t coming from sauce. Besides the egg foo yung, the dishes were a little bland but I will be going back to try some other dishes. The soup and pot stickers looked great. Also a little on the pricy side compared to some other places however if they got their sauce game on point then I wouldn’t mind. Will be returning to explore some more.

The food is amazing! Best Chinese food I have ever had. The cost is higher than your average Chinese food place. But you are playing for quality. My personal favorite plate is Mongolian lamb. Nice a spicy and full of flavor.

I was looking for a Chinese food and found this place because it was pretty close to my house. When we arrived we were seated pretty quickly. We decided to try the lunch special. It came with hot and sour soup. Which was delicious! Then the main dish came. The chow mein was the best chow mein I have ever had. The sweet and sour chicken was also very good. We also checked in and received free crab rancoons! Not only did we have great food but they had Maury playing on the tv! Great food and great entertainment! 10⁄10 would watch Maury here again!!!

May Garden has the best fried rice this side of Chinatown. Always fresh and fragrant and a wee(very wee) bit chewy. The portions are huge, which I find overwhelming, so I always take ½ of my meal home to eat later. Friendly and quick service. Whenever I’m working that area, I try to arrange my appointments around lunch or dinner.

May Garden is good! It’s the closest Chinese restaurant to my home and it’s a quick stop if I’m coming home from work. In other words, it’s my go to place when I need a local Chinese food fix! I have never had dinner at the restaurant, and the restaurant itself never seems to be overly busy; however the restaurant is always clean and the staff are very friendly. Overall, the food quality is solid; flavors are authentic and what you would expect; nothing out of character from your basic Chinese restaurant in a suburban strip mall — on the possitive side, the noodle dishes are not overly greasy. My only critism is that they seem to use a lot of sodium in their preperations(I always end up drinking a couple of pints of water just to stay hydrated).

May Garden is a typical clean chinese restaurant. it was empty at 1ish. comfortable, nice ambience re décor. Sampling:4.99 lunch special, kao bao chicken or lemon chicken with either rice or chow mein noodles *kung pao chicken, –fried breaded chicken cubes kind of dry, onions, diced bamboo, and celery in a vinegary sauce, not a spicy hot sauce. –chow mein noodles on the large size, kind of doughy, some«oiling» but not enough to make the noodles gourmet, just average. –semifresh food, passable, eatable. 2.5 stars –tasted like something i cooked decades ago.(i was a meh cook). footnotes: –fast, courteious service– chinese lessons mandarin lemon chicken ning2 meng3 ji1

Stopped by here on our way from Sebastopol to Windsor. I was craving some hot and sour soup, so that is what I got. And I was pleased. The lunch special is a lot of food, for a really good price. It’s Chinese food, ya know?(disclaimer: my enjoyment of this food may be directly correlated to how many wineries I visited beforehand) The owner is incredibly friendly. It’s a small world. Turns out that she lived in the same neighborhood in Taipei where my husband once lived.
