Oily and overcooked food. One of the worst food in years. It was so that I don’t even want to write more because that would remind me of what I ate. No cleanliness.

BRINGBACKTANDOORIEXPRESS! Went in not knowing they changed names, but figured it was the same. I was WRONG! Prices went way up and portions and food went way down. Used to get the chicken curry lunch special with curry, rice and naan for $ 7. Went in and asked if they still have the same special and was told yes, so I ordered 2. When I got the food, there was no rice. I asked if it came with rice and he said no. I asked if I can order rice and he said no. So I paid $ 24 for 2 buckets of pure grease with 3 pieces of chicken in it and some naan. I’ll give them credit for the good naan, but that’s where it ends. DONOTGOHERE!

I was interested to see that this place had changed hands. I love Indian Food, but Tandoori Express wasn’t my favorite. I’ve ordered off of the menu as well as from the meal combo menu. If you’re interested in getting something quick, the combo is easy and fast. Their Vegetable Korma is my favorite item on the combo menu. If you’ve got a little time I suggest ordering from the main menu. That way you can order it as spicy or mild as you would like. I recommend any of their Kormas. I’m also partial to Tilkka Masala and of course, Naan! This appears to be a family-run business now and the folks that work there are very kind, patient, and helpful. The prices may have come up a bit but when you’re getting fresh food off of the menu, it’s worth it. I will definitely be back for take-out. On another note: they take credit and debit cards now! No more hassling with the ATM.

This place is plain out gross. I loved Tandoori Express, I would get take out at least 2 times per week. Once it changed I thought I would try this new place, and it was overpriced, and the food was horrible. For 20 dollars, all I got was a pint of chicken curry(goat urine), and some rice. At TE for 7 dollars you would get 2 curry, rice, and nan. DONOTEATHERE

I too am bummed. i was a regular of Tandoori Express, in fact, i thought their food was better than the sit-down, white tablecloth Indian places in town. unfortunately, with the new owners, the prices are higher, and you don’t get as much! the naan & chai are lackluster. The new folks are more engaging and fun, but i think the other owners just got tired, but the food and prices were sure decent, even if the décor was always just blah. losing Tandoori Express hurts.

I had the lunch combo, which is rice and 4 items from the a-la-carte bins. I was good, not super awesome, but good. I will go there again. The new employee team is friendlier than the previous owners. The naan is fresh made, great! Perhaps they could up the décor a little more, improve the atmosphere. It’s kind of quiet in there.

I have been here a few times now and keep hoping it will get better. Most of the items usually appear to have been sitting for a while. Also the portions given have been very, very small. The Chicken Vindaloo combo I just got had 2 pieces of chicken and 2 pieces of potato. The employees are super friendly though.

The people were nice. The food was decent and the lunch special was worth it. More than enough food for one.

I don’t even know if this single star is deserved. Don’t go here. I had no idea of the change of ownership and went in to get my regular combo to go. First of all the food at the counter was crusty and old(and I am hoping I don’t get sick). Second of all, for 17 $ I got three pieces of chicken and 3 bites of spinach, two samosas and the most disgusting rice pudding I have ever tasted. 17 $!!! The food was equally as bad as the rice pudding so the fact that they were so stingy with servings is probably for the better. Completely flavorless… the samosas were ok, but even the sauces were terrible. For a new business you would think they would want to take care to impress new customers. No. Instead they completely skimped out on servings, and overcharged(the combo was ¼ the size and 3 $ more than the previous owners used to charge). I am still hungry and completely disgusted with myself for eating the meal… unfortunately, I was starving. Seriously, if you are thinking about trying this new spot, think again. The fact that I am taking time out of my life to write this speaks to how frustrated and disappointed I am by my experience. I’m super bummed and will miss Tandori Express.

I hadn’t realized the ownership had changed hands, but was in the mood for some Indian food but was also in a hurry. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into Shalimar Express… it smelled delicious(way better than before!) and there were more lunch choices than there used to be. We were greeted with great enthusiasm, which was a totally welcome change, too. The gentlemen behind the counter were so very nice, and they offered for us to try everything. Such excellent customer service! We got back to work with our delicious smelling grub… and it tasted EXCELLENT! WIll most defintely go back. Everything was very flavorful. Super delicious.

I used to go to the Indian restaurant that was there because it is close to the jc and the food was decent, but I was always put off by the attitude of the staff and the serious lack of décor. This new place is great! The food is really excellent and the staff are very friendly. The food tastes very fresh and the naan melts in your mouth. The mango lassi was superb as well! Though the prices have gone up slightly from the last restaurant, it’s worth paying because the food is that much better. I got the buffet and walked away stuffed and happy. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves good indian food. One drawback is the size of the place and the décor(which is still pretty stark), though since they just moved in hopefully they are planning to spruce it up in the near future.

Naan is fresh-baked and to die for… and we just ordered the plain kind. Samosas equally delicious. «Medium» spicy Lamb Vindaloo was satisfyingly hot without setting your head on fire. Service very warm and friendly, clearly a family owned and operated place. Looked like they are still in the process of upgrading menus/signs/décor etc., but in the meantime the food is worthy of a palace… don’t be fooled by the humble appearance.
