I came here for brunch on father’s day and overall I had a great experience. We only had to wait fifteen minutes or so despite being initially told that the wait would be half an hour. We got seated at the bar, where we had excellent service. It was quite comfortable to sit there. We were served water and coffee very quickly. Their coffee, which comes from Flying Goat Coffee Company, was particularly good. The brunch menu itself was definitely varied enough that it was easy to find something that everyone liked. I had the tostadas, which were not super visually appealing when they came out, but turned out to be very delicious. They had black beans, queso fresco, lettuce, and other vegetables mixed into them. I wasn’t sure if it would fill me up, since it looked like there was a lot of lettuce on it and not much substance, but I was happy to find the dish was just filling enough. My mother had the french toast, which had a hint of ginger on it and was served with fresh berries. I have to say, I took one bite of it and wished I had ordered it instead. It was mouth-watering. Now I know what to get next time if I come back. The only thing is, I think that was a special. I hope they keep it on their menu.

We ordered South a Scrambled, sesame bagel, chai and coffee. Scrambled eggs were amazing. Bagel and bread was great too they make it in house. Pros: — Great taste to items we tried. Quality food. — Very clean and nice ambiance. — People were welcoming and quick to respond. Cons: — May get crowded, better call ahead. — May be a bit pricey.

I had a memorable brunch here and without really even having to wait, despite appearances of a small crowd outside. The name of this shop first caught my attention, and I’m glad friend and I ended up deciding on here after The Naked Pig down the street looked way too small for the gathering crowds(and we also read that service is slow there). The space here is so beautiful — wide, open bar at the center. The back corner features a floor to ceiling bookshelf and a long, rustic table with gorgeous wood. Clean, modern designs. Friend and I both got their eggs benedict. Honestly, it’s definitely not the best benedict I’ve had and in fact, the eggs were probably a tad overcooked for poached eggs — they weren’t running at all and were more gooey, which I still enjoy but I expect an egg benedict’s poached eggs to have at least part of the yolk running. However, there was such an abundance of flavor and the texture of that English muffin is just absolutely perfect! Definitely not wasted carbs and I wanted even more! And it wasn’t too oily or heavy the way some eggs benedicts can feel to me. The donut holes though, which are only available for breakfast/brunch — oh my, AMAZING. The best I’ve ever had, and my friend who wasn’t going to have any, ended up eating two of them. This is a must, must try even if you’re not a big donut or dessert fan. It’s the perfect donut hole in a way I didn’t know one could be! Not too sweet, perfect blend of sweet and salty. Wonderful warmth and texture — slightly gooey and moist on the inside. You dip them into a very well-balanced strawberry rhubarb jam that was not overwhelming at all. They complimented each other so well! I can rave about these donuts for a while. Get them. No matter how stuffed you are!

This place is always delicious! I got the Joe’s Benedict and I’m pretty sure most of everyone else in the restaurant ordered it too. The service is quick and friendly. They’re knowledgeable about the products they’re selling.

3.5 Visited this place recently on a business trip up to Santa Rosa. As we came in on a Friday morning, the restaurant was really slow with a handful of patrons. Our server greeted us semi promptly and got us started with some coffee and waters. I had come in for the biscuits and gravy which I was informed, were no longer served(wahhhh). I settled on the granola waffle, my better half got the breakfast tostadas with two eggs, and my rugrat a side of bread. The coffee was like rocket fuel(in a good) way and the three cups I drank at breakfast kept me going throughout most of the afternoon. If I lived in the area, I am sure I would swing by just to grab a cup. My granola waffle(not biscuits that I wanted — okay let it go) was actually light, buttery, and yet crispy at the same time. It was delicious. My daughter loved her toast and the house made jam was the bomb(I stole some for my waffle). Tostadas were well received as well. Why only the 3.5 starts and not four? My answer: I cannot justify the cost of this meal when weighed against the size and quality of the food offered. Breakfast for three @ $ 45.00 bucks? When one person is a child drinking water, eating bread(literally) and no booze is involved? Yes we should have read the menu better but I think $ 5.00 to add two eggs to a meal is a little over the top — Aka we made«Portlandia» jokes regarding the pampered life of the chicken they must have come from«Is the chicken happy? Does she get along well with the other chickens?» Hey it was a business write off, so no sweat off my back. If you’re in the area, I still would suggest dropping by, it’s a solid place.

Great atmosphere. Right when you walk in the place has a good vibe. The food was amazing. Everything my friends and I got was delicious. I personally had the scramble. The goat cheese and eggs really tasted fresh and complemented each other well. Would definitely go here again!

Wonder if the chef actually tastes the food? Calamari was the worst I’ve ever had… Not even sure what was in the mixture of cabbage and mint, but my goodness, it was horrible! Maybe cutting up the chunks of mint would be a great start, please… We were told when we ordered, that the food would come out in waves, when it was ready, it would be served… which is fine but… You’d think that the appetizer cheese plate would come out before the entrée, right? After we received the tongue sliders(bread was good, meat was not) and calamari(yuk) we decided to cancel the last 2 dishes because it was 30 minutes past the time we ordered it! Waves means one right after the other. perhaps 5 – 10 minutes in between, but 25 – 30 minutes in between is ridiculous. The place was empty! There’s no reason why this would take so long… veggies really take that long? Then there was the duck egg dish, cancelled. Maybe it was us, but to expect that dishes be presented in a timely manner isn’t unthinkable. Our waitress was extremely rude when we told her we were cancelling the veggies and duck egg, she was pretty snippity and scolded us for not enjoying the experience of the food. Maybe it’s us, but we came to eat food, not have a two hour food experience! Perhaps if the food was a TASTY experience, we could have enjoyed it, but I could not even eat my calamari! Again, the place was pretty much empty and when we did see the help, it seemed like there were enough to make the place run efficiently. My rating of one star is generous… the food was horrible, the service was horrible, the way they present the food is horrible… but the wine the server suggested was excellent! Will never return, will not recommend. Again I wonder if anyone in the kitchen even tastes the food?

What an unexpected treasure slightly off the beaten path in Santa Rosa! We were looking for a new place to try for breakfast. The clever name drew us in. The décor in this restaurant is lovely. Someone gave a lot of thought to making it cozy, and spent some money on making it attractive. The menu is really creative with much either made in-house or locally sourced. They could compete with a lot of places in San Francisco with no trouble at all! My husband had the lox and bagel. When I asked where they get the bagels(hoping to find a good bagel bakery), we were delighted to learn that they make their own! The lox was unusually tasty, not overly salty, and the portion generous. I had the spinach and goat cheese scramble and it was excellent: hot, full of wonderful flavors. Even the toast was exceptional. And the coffee was hot, no hint of bitterness, and refreshed often. The hostess and server were friendly, helpful, and around often without hovering. It wasn’t a cheap breakfast($ 40 with tax and tip) but it was way better than most and the portion sizes were large enough that we took home half of each meal. We will go back for sure, maybe to try the lunch entrees next time.

I am downgrading my review of this place. My original review was accurate as to the time, but repeated visits in the last couple years, with 3 just recently, have been far less impressive, a couple times very unimpressive. The absolute best thing that I have ever had here is the fried pork belly BLT, which my original review discusses, and which was absolutely one of the best sandwich experiences I have ever had. My opinion of that is unchanged. Unfortunately, they have not repeated it. Despite some other good experiences, recently I have been consistently underwhelmed. The last time I had the Granola waffle — wonderful, crisp, and tasty when hot — it came out lukewarm and got cold really fast so that the butter would not melt at all. It just ended up being a bit greasy and heavy and dull. The kimchi deviled egg I got at the same time, a favourite of mine here, was at least as good as ever, i.e. outstanding. The flannel hash I got in the beginning of May(2016) was terrible. I had not had it before but it always sounded great. However, the corned beef was so cooked that most of it was dried out and hard. At the same time, the whole thing was swimming in liquid, making it like a chunky soup in thin broth, not what I would expect or want in a hash, and this seriously detracted from the flavours and textures. It got in the way of everything and made it impossible to taste the different solid ingredients properly, so that I ended up just eating a bunch of separate, fairly bland, chunks that did not meld together as a hash should. I at first thought that this was a mistake, it appearing as though they had simply dumped the water from poaching the eggs into the bowl with the eggs but I learned that, no, this is the way it comes(in fact, I have since noticed, one can see a photo of it posted here on Unilocal). One might think that soaking in broth would at least help soften the dried-out corned beef, but this was not so. The macro bowl was ok but not great, an while it was quite wet, some vegetables could have done with a little cooking to soften them up. Most recently, I finally got the fried-pork-belly banh mi, eager to have their fried pork belly again(see above). I had heard raves about it and had been unable to get it last time I ordered it because they were out of pork belly. It was of mixed success. The pork belly was great — crisp and delightful — and it had some nice, fresh ingredients, nice salad on the side with some wonderful flavours. However, the bread was too hard and crunchy, making it hard to eat and almost unpleasantly so, and causing the fulling to be squished out. It also got in the way of enjoying the filling. The hardness of the bread also threw off what otherwise would have been a wonderful mix of textures, the hard bread dominating the texture entirely. The spice level was ok but overpowered the rest of the ingredients and flavours, making it impossible to notice or enjoy the pork belly, so I had to take out most of the chili to bring some balance back to it. No matter what, though, the pork belly was almost impossible to notice with everything else and the mix of flavours did not work that great. I had a «big baby pie» that was good but the crust was unimpressive, too hard and plentiful, and just got in the way, throwing off the balance. Also, my stomach has consistently been mildly but definitely unhappy all of the last 4 times I’ve been, too consistent a problem to dismiss as the normal fluke. It’s not bad and not what I would call food poisoning, being mild, but it is a definite mild stomach upset every time. This may happen every once in a while to some degree but not like this. My wife complained of it every time she went too the point that she stopped going. I did not put much emphasis on that since her stomach is very sensitive and gets upset at least a bit almost every time she eats out. I have continued to go, but the same thing has been happening to me, too. As for service, it has generally been good and I have not had the rude experiences that some have complained of. I will add that I am wavering between 3 and 4 stars, leaning a bit to 4 because of the great meals I have had and because the place itself is gorgeous and stylish with wonderful décor and big windows, etc. I am giving it 3 right now, though, because all of the last 5 visits have been unimpressive, some seriously so. I also note that I don’t like the conscious hipster aura of the place but am willing to overlook it if the food is worth it. I am going to continue to try it periodically and may update this again if things change but for now, it’s a 3.

Stopped by on the way to Sonoma before hitting the wineries. Nice place — ordered some paramo hash, egg scramble and granola waffle. Everything was good, service was good. The waffle was very unique — crunchy. Overall, good place.

Food is good, atmosphere is good, coffee is good, some of the employees can tend to get a little tude but I also understand it is constantly busy and they are non-stop going. Kinda reminds me of when I lived in NYC. It was like«Tell me what you need, make it quick and don’t waste my time!» But also this is Santa Rosa and we can slow down a bit and practice kindness every now and then. If you are going for brunch be prepared to wait a while for a seat. We usually sit at the bar. It is worth the wait though.

Five star breakfeast spot in Santa Rosa this is a place that thinks outside of the box and just plain dominates! I came in while on a business trip and hey they don’t have french toast on the breakfast menu but they soup and they do it right! Tucked away in the SOFA neighborhood of Santa Rosa is one of the best breakfast’s you’ll have I had the Steel-Cut Oatmeal with Fruit and Crème and the Matzo Ball Soup with Mushrooms and Jalapenos in Broth the Soup which was great for the cold I had… breakfast came with a hand written note from my waitress, ying chao curry pills and elderberry syrup to ward off future cold spells. This place will take care of you come in here for a great breakfast, I’ll be back!

Stopped in for Happy Hour yesterday and stayed for dinner. Generous pours of white and red wines for $ 5:00 started the afternoon right. We split orders of goat cheese stuffed majool dates along with kimchee and bacon deviled egg. Both were excellent and also part of happy hour. After relaxing with our wines we ordered entrees. Roast Mary’s organic chicken, fingerling potatoes, asparagus and batter fried green onions was very tasty and a huge portion. Took half home and enjoyed it for lunch today. Also ordered the Spring Vegetable Lasagna which was also delicious, rich yet light tasting(is that possible :). Came in a oval gratin dish piping hot. Service at SS is always friendly, helpful and yesterday was no exception. The kitchen is also versatile, besides great dinners, equally good breakfasts, lunches and brunches are also served. PS: The Spinster Sisters Burger Night, previously Sunday night is now Wednesday night.

We have eaten here a couple of times, and it has been excellent each and every time. The brunch food is sooooo good. The brunch food isn’t your usual brunch food — traditional breakfast staples are mixed up and cooked with different ingredients you wouldn’t expect, and it is all tremendously fresh and delicious! Finally ate dinner here for restaurant week, and I don’t know why we waited so long to try dinner! The 4 Lily soup was delicious, hot, tasty and fresh. The braised pork shoulder was one of the most delicious ways I’ve ever eaten pork. The meat was tender, flavorful, and went really well with the green barley, asparagus and sauce. I also had the recommended glasses of wine with each course, and they complimented each dish so well.(It was like I was doing a $ 200 wine and food pairing for only $ 29!) The dessert was a salted caramel chocolate pudding(I think) and it was heavenly. The port they served with it just sent it over the top. The staff is always 100% attentive, and nice, and they all seem to love to work there. I love the décor, and want the beautiful wood bar and gorgeous long wood dining table at my house! We will be coming back here as often as possible.

My first visit recently and not my last — a great find. Bright and cheery — excellent service from our waiter, Jordan and yummy food — a great combo. I had their home made corn beef hash with poached eggs — yum. Friend had the bagel and smoked salmon plate — huge and good. She also had their roasted vegies which were also excellent. It’s in a kind of a hidden away area and right under the freeway but quiet none the less. Enjoyed it thoroughly and will be back with more friends for sure.

Spinster sisters I have a couple friends who live in Santa Rosa… both of them independently have recommended this place(well sort of.) they both say sometimes it is good, sometimes they are disappointed. I was meeting one of them up there on a holiday Monday for brunch and then wine tasting. We waited about 15 minutes for a table of 5 to open up(although there were only 4 chairs, so that took another 5 minutes). We ordered: the challah(stuffed) French toast special(me), The crispy pork cutlet(Another special) with eggs and spatzel(my man), The quiche(special), the granola waffle and the strada, also a side of potato hash, a side of sausage, and the best thing we all ate — the chocolate doughnut holes. These doughnut holes were DELISH and like little fried molten chocolate cakes, but $ 12 for 5 of them(pricy!). Overall — everyone was fairly disappointed with their entrée choice — the exceptions being that others liked my french toast more than me — I thought it could have benefited from more syrup, and my friend liked his waffle(his usual order). I was annoyed that the brunch menu displayed in the window we had been perusing was different than the one we were handed(they said it had recently changed(then change the one in the windows dudes!!!). i had been eyeing the mont cristo The water in the bathroom was FREEZING cold and was difficult to trigger with the automation faucet.(also no toilet seat covers) The space itself is cute and well decorated — the service was also fine.

I had such high expectations after I heard raving reviews from my friends but after eating here I realized we either have slightly different tastes in food or I placed my expectations too high. The restaurant itself is very cute. There’s a large bar you can eat at with tables surrounding it. It’s off the beaten path of Downtown Santa Rosa so be prepared to look for street parking(which we had no problem with). The staff was very nice and welcoming when we walked in starving and really excited for Brunch. We were seated immediately at a cute table by the window. We ordered the onion dip with salmon eggs on top for an appetizer, the monte cristo sandwich and the eggs benedict. The appetizer looked a lot better than it tasted and was basically over priced bland onion dip with stale toast pieces and some salmon eggs to increase the price or give it some«flare». The eggs Benedict is different than most with red onions, prosciutto and a very lemony hollandaise sauce. I wasn’t into the onion or the fatty prosciutto but I’m sure some people like that. It was cooked well I just didn’t care for the combination of flavors. The monte cristo was pretty good but a little dry. I hate to be so critical because this place really is worth a try and is very cute. I would be curious to see what they serve for dinner. I just think sometimes restaurants try really hard to stand out by making dishes with interesting and«out there» combinations but honestly sometimes the classics are classics for a reason.

My serious new favorite go to place. This restaurant has a hip vibe in locale, food and staff. It is located in a cool little section of Santa Rosa that reminds me of Berkeley. The cottage lined street is home to artists, an events bakery and gardens. I have loved everything I have eaten here. Even my sixteen year old knows a good thing when he sees(and tastes) it and it has become our favorite spot when it is just the two of usl They have a nice«happy hour.» I have loved the warm olives, and the padron peppers are addicting. Of course my son loves their fries! I have also been lucky enough run into them at a private party and to sample their catering fare — delicious, beautifully presented and attended by their professional staff. They have events — artists, cookbook authors, etc. which I have not made it to but which sound fun. Word is they have a boutique inn next door in the works.
