This is the best Hawaiian food in San Diego. Great catering company! The food tastes great and Nelson arrived on time! I cannot say enough great things about his food and this special catering establishment. After the party everyone couldn’t stop talking about how tasty the food was! Thank you!

I had checked his catering calendar and saw he was booked the afternoon of my party, but contacted him to see if he could squeeze me in. I was even willing to pick up the food, but he not only fit me in, but delivered everything hot, fresh and right on time. We have been happy customers of Dakines for years and our guests raved about the food (Kalua pork, teriyaki beef, macaroni salad and steamed rice). So good!!! I’m glad we had a little left over to snack on the next day. If you’re looking for Hawaiian food, you can’t go wrong with Dakines! Thanks again for another great party!

We had a luau theme 80^th birthday for my mom and booked Da Kines based on word of mouth and the great Unilocal reviews. Needless to say we were not disappointed. The owner Nelson arrived with enough delicious food to feed an army. Every bite reminded me of Hawaii and more importantly, made my mom really happy on her birthday. The terriyaki beef, kalua pig and kalbi ribs were crowd favorites. I have to say that I am not much of a pork fan, but Da Kines’ kalua pig was fantastic! As other people have said, besides the melt in your mouth food, the thing that makes Da Kines so special is that Nelson is professional and a genuinely nice guy. I’m positive I will use Da Kines again and recommend it to everyone I know.

Da Kine’s Hawaiian food is always a huge hit at our parties. Nelson knocked it out of the park once again for my daughter’s 3^rd birthday! Kalua pig, Teri beef and Teri chicken are a must! I lived in Hawaii for five years and this is as local as it gets here on the mainland. The quality of food and personal, friendly service is what stands out most! Thank you Nelson for taking time from your busy schedule to make our food with only a two day notice. Being born and raised in Hawaii, I gotta have Hawaiian food. Would give 5 stars but their macaroni salad gotta go. Sorry. Best Foods only! Otherwise, pretty good and would recommend.

June 11, 2015 was my son’s High School graduation. Rather than go to a restaurant, I decided to have dinner at my house following the graduation ceremony.
My son wanted Hawaiian food, Katsu Chicken in particular. I searched through Unilocal to find a hawaiian restaurant that would cater. and would cater last minute. and when I say last minute, I contacted them on the 10^th of June… and remember, there are many graduations happening that day.
I also was able to place an order on the website, however I wasn’t sure they would be able to deliver so I also called and left a message for Nelson. What a surprise, Nelson called me back within an hour and said he could possibly take the order and deliver at the specified time… What? What? YES!
By noon on the 10^th of June, I had confirmation that I could have kalbi ribs, kahlua pork with cabbage, katsu chicken and spam musubi delivered at 7:30pm to my home!
DELIVERY
So the ceremony went longer than anticipated. It started at 5:30pm and by 7:30pm, they were only on the M’s for names… yikes… My brother had to go to the house to make sure someone was home to accept the delivery. They were ON TIME! Gave my brother advice on how to keep it warm, friendly, helpful, courteous… all of what is required for a successful business!
FOOD
Now on to the food… I love Hawaiian Food. It was DELICIOUS. My last option was L&L and I’m not a huge fan of L&L… Da Kine’s food was fresh, delicious, not too salty on the Kahlua Pork, cabbage was perfect, spam musubi awesome, Katsu Chicken and sauce, perfect, Kalbi.yummy.
OVERALL
They were PERFECT and made the celebration PERFECT. Food incredible, Nelson’s service was beyond what I could have imagined… helpful…courteous…responsive. He could have said «No» because it was such last minute notice and he made my day, put a smile to my face and my families face, as well as made our bellies satisfied and bigger… THANK YOU Da Kines!

Once again Nelson and Da Kines were excellent! This time we had them cater our daughter’s wedding. It was an intimate affair in our back yard and the food was more than enough for our 50 guests. Everything was tasty and people raved about the Kaluha Pig among other things. Thank you once again for your fantastic food and service. You are the best!

Working with Da Kine’s was a wonderful experience. I needed to find a caterer for my birthday party that had about 35 guests and just wanted some delicious, comfort island food. Da Kine’s delivered completely!
I worked with Nelson, who is an absolute sweetheart. He made the entire process so easy. I ended up getting green salad, rice, teriyaki chicken (yum), kalbi ribs (double-​yum), kalua pig with cabbage (be still my heart) and ahi poke (I could have just eaten that and been happy). The food was delivered hot and fresh and it was delicious. It was so good, my friends and family practically cleaned out everything! I was a little bummed because I was imagining eating leftovers for days and was looking forward to it — but more delighted that everyone enjoyed the food.
Thank you Nelson for all your help and the yummy grinds! I’m just waiting for another event so I can have the excuse to order from Da Kine’s again :)
