Osteria del Monte

We joined my in-​laws here on the last day of our North Carolina vacation. It was a terrific experience!
The ambiance was Italy-​meets-​Toxaway in the best sense of the phrase.
Our server, a Croatian gentleman whose accent just added beautifully to the experience, was friendly, knowledgeable, and on the spot attentive. His recommendations were helpful and his professionalism was apparent.
The food was delicious. The dishes at our table included flounder, snapper, cannelloni, eggplant Parmesan, and veal with artichoke and mushrooms (mine). Everyone reported that it was tasty. I was lucky enough to sample all of it except for the snapper (my daughter didn’t offer as she seemed to be content to enjoy it herself).
We enjoyed a nice bottle of Ferrari Chardonnay and I had a glass of Chianti. The wine selection was more than adequate.
The atmosphere was very friendly as many of the patrons seemed to know each other — about half of them were from the nearby Lake Toxaway residences.
I’ll plan to return next time I’m in the area.

This place was awesome! We are Italian and are very picky about Italian food– wow did this place exceed all out expectations. This is a MUST for this area– it’s better than any Italian place we’ve been to in surrounding cities

Make sure to make a reservation prior to going. Food is great, but the dining room is a little noisy and it’s sometimes difficult to hear conversation.
Traditional Italian. Good Service. Reasonable prices.
