Awesome yarn shop with lots of hand dyed and luxury yarns. Also spinning fiber and supplies. Great selection and some wonderful sales. Friendly folks.

This was a great experience. I don’t know what the other person was talking about because everyone here was helpful. The ladies knitting at the table were very welcoming. One if the coolest things are the yarns that are hand-dyed based on the photos of the sea life. Amazing!

What a great place — fabulous selection, helpful staff, and a fun table around which to sit and stitch. So glad I stopped by on my vacation, and on my required list for my next visit.

If you are from out of town and there’s any chance that you may want to return your purchase-don’t go there since they only give store credit and will not credit your credit card. Nice store, but not customer friendly! Z.K. from Michigan

Visited A Good Yarn today. With the über-friendly staff/owner and wide selection for any knitter to enjoy; long story short this is the BEST yarn shop I’ve been to in the U.S. Especially in Florida, where it’s surprisingly hard to find lace and sock yarn, A Good Yarn has it all, and more. Lots of yarns that I’ve seen up north but are impossible to find down in the South. I’ve been here a couple of times over the past few years and I’m always enthralled by new selection and stay a few hours to comb through all of it.(There are some stores where I’ve seen the same skein in the same place for the past four years, but not here.) If you’re anywhere near the Gulf/West side of Florida, come to A Good Yarn! No matter how long the drive is, you won’t regret your visit and will most-likely walk out with a bucket-load of yarn like I did! :)

Best yarn shop I’ve seen in the Tampa bay area. Everyone is helpful and friendly without being overbearing, there is a fabulous variety of yarn, the prices are fair, and it’s overall just a tremendously welcoming and comfortable store. It’s huge, too, with a whole room devoted to needlepoint, weaving, felting, and spinning. I’d absolutely recommend this shop to anyone, and I’ll definitely be back!

I found this shop through my Yarn Places app. What a great store. Fabulous staff. Wonderful owners. Great selection of yarns, if they don’t have it I’m betting they can get it. If you live in the area and have not been to this store, get thee there promptly! If you’re on vacation, put this on your bucket list! If you have the opportunity to hear the stories behind their exclusive yarns, ask for Murray(the owner’s husband). With everything else there is to look at, don’t overlook their sale yarns. This shop should be on the bucket list of every knitter in Florida(locals AND visitors)!

On vacation and took my knitting supplies with me to work on a new pattern. As luck would have it, the pattern called for a stitch I had not done before. A quick Unilocal search took me to A Good Yarn. What a find! Very friendly assistance with a quick tutorial on how to complete the stitch. I could have spent the day in the store because of all the beautiful skeins of yarn but hubby was in the car waiting. I bought a stein to finish my work and off I went to vacation home to continue my knitting. Thanks so much to the fine ladies of A Good Yarn. By the way Sarasota, you are very lucky to have a store with generous product and supplies as many knitting/yarn stores are closing.

I was there with my wife. She doesn’t review on Unilocal,so I’m doing it for her. I sat on the couch w/my son, used the free wifi, while my wife and daughter spent way too much money and said it was the best yarn store they’ve ever been to. She loved this place! And I’m now waiting on a new pair of socks I was promised…

Stopped by yesterday and was so impressed with the selection and friendly staff. Lots of independent dyers(more from Canada than I’ve ever seen at a US shop). Drove up from Naples(about 2 hours) and was absolutely worth the time. If you have an hour or two and are in need of a wool fix — his is the place!!!

Fabulous store with oh-so-beautiful choices of yarn and many finished items for us to ooh and ahh over. Attentive and helpful staff who are eager to assist and answer questions. Drive from tampa with my knitting group and we all walked out with a nice bag of assorted yarns, patterns, and needles. I’m new to knitting and don’t have a machine(some fancy name I’m sure!) that winds into a ball the yarn and I was disappointed that they only wound one skein for me. I bought a few and overall spent, in my opinion, a fair amount of cash. I would have done the remainder myself but the machine isn’t for customer use. Not a big deal to most yarn crafters probably because they have the winding-thingy. That said, I’d still return and look forward to that visit.

I’m from out of town and while the greeting was underwhelming, once I was there for a while, they were very nice to help me with a project from home. Then I purchased some yarn– i wanted something different from what they sell at my local yarn shop(and spent quite a bit of money). Was overall a nice experience and I love the idea of the hand-dyed yarns to match the sea and sea creatures. Cool.

I travel extensively for my work and make it a practice to track down the LYSs in the areas I’m visiting. To date this is one of the top two I have found. Of course, what I’m looking for is a shop that has something distinctive — items that they carry exclusively — which can be challenge for some. Here I was not disappointed. The exclusive colorways from Three Irish Girls and phenomenal. I purchased 2 for making socks but know that I will be back for more. The mystery challenges — which can be done via email — is very fun. The overall quality of the shop is top notch. Great place to peruse and enjoy.

I love A Good Yarn! The yarn is beautiful and there is something new and great every time I walk through the doors. Everyone(staff and patrons) are super friendly and knowledgeable. There is a reason that every there is smiling! And as soon as you walk in you will understand. A Good Yarn is shop for people who love yarn and fiber, and get excited by creative and fun projects. They are a wonderful addition to the fiber arts community.
