Totally agree with the others. I went on the bear cruise in Oct 2014. No Events planned at all due to the lack of participation and bookings. We had like 20 – 30 guys book that cruise and 6 of us booked the pre cruise hotel. For me the pre cruise Hotel was good. 1 night hotel, parking and transportation to the port. We did get a some free drinks and $ 100 on board credit. The customer service staff when you call I had one rep actually hang up on me. The agent that worked with me I emailed after we got back gave my 2 cents and asked about another trip never heard back. My buddy that was suppose to go with me backed out. I had to fight to get some of my money back as they told me one rate then said no another rate because that’s how the cruise line works. I fought and told them the math doesn’t add up but did get the money back that I thought I should have gotten. I think just poor communication on their part with the guests, poor customer service, and not holding to what they advertise when you book is the biggest reason why people don’t like the company.

Just recently found the Unilocal page for AL and Chuck «travel agency» and thought it’s worth posting something to save others some money, even though it’s been several months since I traveled with their agency. Go with another gay travel agency, as these guys are in it just for the money and do not care if there clients have a good time. Lots of promises made and not kept, lots of money spent for no reason. Oh, and really terrible customer service from the travel agents right up to the owner’s themselves. Was surprised at only the single negative review posted, but the section for «not recommended» reviews also has two more negative reviews. Better yet, check out the Better Business Bureau’s «stellar» complaint history for both Al and Chuck and Legendary Journeys, as they are the same company.
If you are going to book with them no matter the reviews, do yourself a favor and wait till the very end, you’ll notice the prices drop enormously because they can’t sell out their vacations (you’ll save a bunch of money). If you don’t believe me, price out the other vacations they have posted on their website that are coming up sooner than the one you plan to go on and compare the prices of that one to the ones that are farther off. Also don’t purchase the «package upgrades» they offer, they don’t make good on them half the time and the other half of the time you can get the «extras» while on the trip for cheaper anyway. I too was on the December 2014 Al and Chuck cruise, which was originally advertised as an all gay charter (I specifically booked this cruise because it was supposed to be an «all» gay cruise, I would not have booked it otherwise). They couldn’t sell out, so they opened it to the general public at the last minute. They even lowered the «gay» rate but would not allow you upgrade at the lower rate. I have been on many other all gay charters with other gay travel agencies and if they can’t fill the ship the ship still sails as an all gay cruise (with no old ladies in their Hoverounds trying to race to the slot machines. lol) I also paid for the «extras» as part of the «Bear Cruise». The extras were suppose to include: pre-​stay parties at the hotel prior to the cruise, private Bear parties on board the ship and bon voyage fireworks. None of which were provided. They tried to make up for the «extras» in silly ways such as a $ 10 ship’s credit for the fireworks and lame poorly organized informal gatherings. Al, the owner of the travel agency bailed ship on the second day for «medical reasons». Probably related to stress from all the complaints.
If you want to experience a truly all gay vacation where you will be treated like royalty rather than a second class citizen use a more reputable gay travel agency.

STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!!!
Booked on the December 2014 ALandChuck «gay cruise» only to be severely dissapointed over and over again by this travel agency. My friend and I were charged over an extra $ 400 each to be a part of a faction, the «bear cruise», and were promised, verbally, numerous parties with free drinks and specialized «bear events», but never received anything in writing. I admit this is my own fault, taking verbal promises as truth, and I will never make the same mistake again. Once on the cruise, the only «extra» our group was given was a 2 hour happy hour with prefixed, rather weak drinks. That’s what our extra $ 400 got us. Additionally, the company didn’t sell enough cabins on the chartered ship and a week before the cruise left, it was opened up to the public for $ 1, yes literally $ 1, so our predominantly «Gay» cruise, very quickly became about half gay, half 70s and older Floridians straight couples. Talk about an awkward combo.
Let’s move on to the stellar performance of the actual travel agents and owners, Al and Chuck, themselves… I hope you appreciate the sarcasm. Before ever getting onto the ship my friend’s name was incorrectly spelled by the travel agent (for those of you who know cruises, this is a huge problem to get on the ship) and our travel agent neglected to call us back on numerous occasions. On the cruise we were given a queen bed instead of two twins, our dining time was incorrect, and we weren’t placed together with our other friends on the boat as previously promised. After filing a complaint with the company, I was sent a short, curt letter stating they did nothing wrong and basically «too bad». Just to give an idea of how those on the cruise felt about Al and Chuck, the owners, and their company: during one of the shows, a short video was played to promote the companies business that featured the two owners in their posh, lavish Florida home, and the entire theatre stood up and boo’d the couple for several minutes. These men should be ashamed of themselves and I’m ashamed they are a part of our community.
