As Good As It Gets

I was very disappointed in my experience here. According to the reviews I was expecting a warm wonderful collection of cheese, chocolates and coffees. Instead, we found a very small boutique shop. The owner did not seem very attentive at all and was on the phone the majority of the time we were there. Instead of offering samples of the different cheese selections we will offered the menu and told that we «Have a menu we could LOOK at».
I was also scolded for walking up to the refrigerated cheese display to look at the selection. There was not a sign saying «no entrance» and it appeared that it was a walk-​through.
Word of advice, If you don’t want people to go behind the counter then please post something accordingly so not to leave someone embarrassed and feeling like a chastised child. I won’t be going back her. We only went because of the great Unilocal reviews.

I called and left a message– and they got right back to me. I needed a favor– my mother lives very nearby (just a few blocks away), and I wanted them to run some nice chocolates over to her instead of shipping them. And they recommended some I had not seen, and also did the favor, hand delivering them. LOVE these guys! All the greatness of a local place, and all the excellence of world class product.

I am addicted to this place. I have purchased lots of gifts for my friends and family here too and they are always so impressed.

You can’t get wrong with this place. Tucked away in a delightful city is this delightful store that stocks some of the finest chocolates, caviar, tea, cheese, wine, champagne, coffee, curd, chutneys, vinegars and other stuff that you won’t find easily anywhere else. Doug, the shop owner, is not only one of the friendliest person in the world, but also one of the most knowledgeable — ask him about any product in his shop and he will be not only happy to let you sample it (don’t be surprised if Doug takes you on a tasting tour of his store), but also will go out of his way to help you find the product you’re looking for. He loves a good chat and what I like about him is that he won’t push you to buy something. Nonetheless, you’ll probably end up buying a lot of things from his store (like I did) just becoz everything in his store is very good, or should I say, as good as it gets!

This place is one of my favorites in Sarasota. They have so many unique and tasty delights! And the chocolate and tea selection are fab. I sampled some of their aged Oriental Zen Tea and it was so delicious! They carry high quality and very unique products that you cant get just anywhere, probably why they are called As Good As It Gets!

What an amazing experience! I walked in not expecting such a wonderful place. The cheeses, the chocolates, what can I say i this is a place I will be coming back. Doug and Cindy where amazing! Thank you so much!

The owner Doug couldn’t be more friendly or knowledgeable. There is no pressure to buy, but you will likely find yourself walking out with something delicious!

Great staff and great store. You get a thorough education about everything in there, including some tasty samples, with no pretense whatsoever. Excellent place to buy fantastic goodies for special parties, special guests, special friends … and for yourself, on special occasions!!!

They really have a great range of epicurean products and a friendly, knowledgeable staff. I purchased a Henriot Brut Souverian champagne and sampled several great cheeses. They have this French Merlemont that’s one of my favorites and hard to find. I like the Pata Negra Jamon Serano which they sliced to my specifications (paper thin). Lots of other unique items that they offer you to sample. Very clean, fair prices and easy in and out parking.

I couldn’t agree more with Connor V. I just happened to walk by As Good As It Gets today and thought I’d pop in to see what the store was about. Within moments, I was getting the «nickel tour» from Doug, the owner. I spent over an hour having a great time being educated about wine, coffee, caviar, chocolate, vinegars, olives, specialty meats and cheese. Of course, the best part was all the «tasting» one must do to be a discerning customer! Doug and Cindy were so knowledgeable and passionate about all of their wares. It was truly a delight to spend time with them, and I will now head directly to them when in need of a gourmet gift instead of aimlessly roaming the aisles of other upscale grocery stores. I strongly recommend a visit.
