Was very disappointed with our dinner tonight. The salad and appetizer were quite good so we expected our dinners to be the same. I ordered the Scaloppine alla Sorrentina and did not enjoy it. The eggplant was very soggy, maybe due to the excessive bland sauce that was poured everywhere, and the vegetables were straight out of a bag of frozen veggies. I am a big fan of marsala and the sauce did not taste like it to me. My husband ordered the Pappardelle Bolognese and said it was good but nothing special.

Was in town on business and stopped at the first Italian place we could find for dinner after a long day traveling. Lucky us. Rolls were yummy(I love bread). We tried the appetizer special; sautéed calamari over mixed greens with a garlic oil dressing, light but satisfying. We both ordered veal but prepared different ways(scaloppine and ?); both were fabulous. No room for dessert. No alcohol.(~$ 85). Dined on the patio and my co-worker was bit by mosquitos. Great service and the owner checked on us too. Food/service would bring me back; price would keep me away.

What a great classic Italian restaurant! You won’t be disappointed. Charlie was our waiter and he was a hoppin’ but gave us great service. We sat outside with the heat lamps on a beautiful night. Place was packed when we got here. The 6 of us had pastas and meat dishes as well as the calamari and burrata for appetizers. We all had an amazing meal. We are currently awaiting some cappuccinos after dinner.

Lovely setting and and tasty food. Service was very attentive. The bolognese was excellent and the wine was good. Bread service could be better. This is an old house that’s converted as a restaurant. I loved walking by seeing all the different seating areas.

I have been coming to the nice little quaint house for the past 10 years, from a steakhouse to the current gem that is Casa Antica. So many restaurants in Sarasota claim they serve«Italian» but few if any can say they are truly Italian. First let’s address the ambiance. If the weather cooperates you can sit outside in the patio area. Even if it is a little chilly they can turn on the heat lamps as you dine in a little Italy backdrop while listening to Frank Sinatra. Inside the 3 story house includes little dining areas, and an awesome rooftop outside patio which can accommodate a party for up to 50 people. Now let’s talk about the amazing food… The appetizers include the traditional staples like calamari, antipasto, and a wonderful caprese Casa Antica. I’ve had the tri-fecta: pasta, chicken, and fish depending on my mood. The various traditional Italian dishes such as chicken parm, Francese, and sorrentina are all wonderful. His special fish dishes and those in the Pesce area of the menu should be given serious consideration. Oftentimes, the fish is caught in the Gulf and served fresh that night. The secret behind any good Italian restaurant is the«gravy», and I assure you the red sauce here is really good. Sometimes I will just come here for dinner and sit at the bar and listen to all the people leaving full and happy. As I sit here tonight I am watching a mystery diner who works for a local magazine singing her praises to the chef in the front portion of the house. Usually I don’t have room for desserts but they look pretty good. I can’t Say enough good things about this place. If you are a local or someone coming here for vacation check it out. Tell Roberto, David sent you!

I have always been a fan of CasAntica until last night. Hoping for a romantic NYE meal, and was more than disappointed. They prepared an uninspired pre fix menu that we were not told about, and then charged us 120.00 per plate, but gee… we did get a small glass of Champagne free! Service was unprofessional… food runners tried to bring us other tables food on multiple occasions… we heard staff complaining and they were staging themselves just outside our small dining room. There was no background music, and all customers looked glum. We should have turned around and walked out. We discovered this restaurant had been sold to a new owner and the family charm and warmth is now gone. We will not be back…, looks like this spot will turnover again…

Had an amazing dinner this past Saturday night! From the small plate appetizers to the entrees and wine, all was superb! The service wasn’t rushed and we were able to enjoy meals in a truly relaxed manner. Definitely end your dinner with the house made tiramisu. I typically don’t order this but so… Happy I did! Wow! So that’s what it’s supposed to taste like.

Most authentic Italian food this side of Florence! Our party of 3 was treated to a flavor explosion of fine tastes that included Spagetti Carbonara, veal, and well prepared grouper. We will be back every month!

What an absolutely fun evening! The restaurant itself, is in an old house, that made to feel like you’re in Italy. There’s an outdoor seating area, the inside, as well as the upstairs and a private room. The owner and his wife were so interactive and came out multiple times. Everything that we ate was freshly cooked and prepared. Everything we ordered, which is a lot, had amazing taste. You could tell that all of their pasta with homemade. They had a calamari dish served over arugula, that was not fried, but sautéed. It was so different and so much fun to eat. We had homemade pasta, we had an amazingly prepared steak, salad, homemade soup and more. The personality of the waitress and the owners shown through, throughout the evening. I would highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to going back again.

Possibly one of the best restaurants in Sarasota!!! The food is exquisite and the atmosphere unmatched — truely authentic Italian food. The owner Robert is so passionate about what he does and it shows!!! The flavors of our food were so delicious and the ingredients fresh. Service was A+! Thank you Cas Antica for providing us with such a special dining experience — can’t wait to come back! Ciao!

Very cute, warm, charming ambience. Wait staff very attentive. Wine overpriced. My meal was mediocre. Veal tough, red sauce thick and lacking flavor. Tiramisu was very good.

Amazing. Amazingly passionate and heart filled personable service. One of the few places in Sarasota you can go and feel like family. Incredible wine selection, food that rivals my favorite places to eat in Italy and overall an amazing experience. We love the unique and beautiful building, this is the place we bring friends and family in sarasota… and we should know, are from Sarasota! Ps we also had our wedding rehearsal dinner here and couldn’t have been treated better. Good people, great food!

Had dinner there Saturday night with a total of 6 people. Food was good. Service was terrible. Could not believe how the kitchen can take so long to deliver. Waitress was apologetic but did not follow-up on our order or service, such as water, bread, wine, etc. We will not be back.

Just got home from a great dinner! I wanted a special experience for my boyfriend and I, I noticed their rooftop dining patio and automatically fell in love! I felt a little bad since the tables weren’t set for dinner there however the staff insisted they would set a table for us which was kind of them! It was a little chilly and right away a gentleman got the heater working for us! Dawn was our server and made our experience complete, she was very knowledgable of the menu and specials and was very patient. I wanted a special night and that’s what we had. Better than expected and very quaint and romantic! We will be back and will recommend CasAntica to our friends!!!

We were a party of 4 on a rainy(but busy) Saturday night. After searching for an Italian Restaurant in Longboat Key and Sarasota we settled on CasAntica based on highly positive reviews from 3 different websites and an add we found in a local magazine. We were not disappointed. Apps: 1 — Grilled Squid Special: brother said(10⁄10) 2 — Mozzarella Special: brother said(10⁄10) 3 — Cozze Al Guazzetto: sister said(8⁄10) 4 — Antipasto Rustico(for 1): I thought it was great(a lot for sure) and I shared it. I was very pleased with selection and quality(8⁄10) Meals: 1 — Spaghetti Carbonara: sister loved it(9⁄10); I thought it was the best I ever tasted and I may return to Sarasota some day just to eat this(10⁄10) 2 — Scalloppine alla Sorrentina: I loved it … so, so good — I didn’t want to share. but I did(a little)(10⁄10) 3 — Parmigiana di Vitello: seems strange to get, but my brother loved it and shared it and as much as I loved mine, I loved his more. We both agreed it was a(10⁄10) 4 — Steak Special: my brother loved it and claimed top 10 steak of his life(10⁄10) Dessert: 1 — tiramisu: we shared it and all said it was solid, if ordinary(6.5÷10) A couple of side notes and I would not expect this again(or ever). I was reviewing the bill and they forgot to charge for the dessert, an iced tea, a soda and a hot tea. I mentioned it to them and they were so surprised that I would do such a thing. The waiter said not to worry about it after checking with the owner. In addition, my brother admired the tea pot and inquired if he could buy one, the owner disappeared into the kitchen and came back with one on the house. He knew we were tourists and when pressed by us to accept payment of some kind, he said, «We’ll see you again some time, OK?» Really a great place. Will remember this meal with family for years to come.

Wow. Absolutely wow. Yes, pricey italian but WELL worth it. Was in town for work and wandered in here for a low key dinner for one. From the moment I walked into the door(quaint old house and décor), the service was amazing and it only got better. The gentleman greeting me opened the door when I arrived and was so friendly. The bread was good — not amazing, but good — and the olive oil plate with pesto was impressive. Server was helpful in recommending a good wine. Spinach salad — I wasn’t expecting what i received; was expecting standard bag-type spinach and a basic salad(description says olive oil + spices). What I received was fresh spinach leaves + EVOO and fantastic spices. The flavor and freshness of this was fantastic. Pasta — ordered the linguine bascaiola… linguine with mushrooms in a simple sauce is basically the description. I was expecting nothing extraordinary, and frankly didn’t care since it’s so hard to mess up italian food. OMG. Order this. What I received was a plate of fantastic pasta + a mix of mushrooms in an extremely flavorful brown-butter + spices /seasonings sauce with a fresh cut rosemary sprig on top. My description of this dish does it zero justice. If you like mushrooms and want a hearty meal… but not too heavy… get this. It was simply fantastic. I’m pretty sure that everything on this menu is pretty darn good and you can’t go wrong. Wine was great. Service was great. Food was spectacular. I am making this a staple every time I’m in town for work now, which thankfully is somewhat frequent.
