Their sushi is great! Fresh and melts in your mouth. But their Chinese food is horrible.
The service is strange. A young girl works there. She really isn’t a good waitress. She didnt check on my water. I had to ask her for more water.
The sushi is delicious and inexpensive. Reason why I go. Try the Double Tuna roll!

I hate to do this to them, but this place went downhill quickly. The owner must be having trouble with the business. First the last 2 years have had his 12 yr old daughter taking orders over the phone and waiting tables. A kid should not be doing this. No professionalism, not her fault she’s a kid. Can bearly understand her. Not odering from here or going here ever again. Used to be a loyal customer. Food is ok.

Excellent take out. Dining room gorgeous. Must be new owners deal. Egg roll perfect. Got general combo like $ 8 out the door. 2 meals easy. Will try sushi next. Took sideways glance at diners sushi. Looked great. Broccoli in my dish fresh ample and perfect.

Was walking in and noticed they were not busy in the heart of Sarasota that kind of scares me. I told my buddy’s that I should check Unilocal but they told me let’s try and not to worry now I wished I did.
Was greeted by a 12 yr old girl we went to the table and another flag hit me the table was not fully cleaned.
But we stayed. The drinks came water is what we ordered but her English was limited so I got no ice in mine not happy but made do. We ordered.
The food came. The egg roll was really good but the rest of the food was ok. (Sesame Chicken & White Rice.)
She never came back to even check on us we went with out drinks the whole meal that is a killing point for me. She seemed like she didn’t want to be there and the cell phone or electronic device was more important than the customers. There really needs to be an adult dealing with customers. All in all not a good image for the 3 of us.

The food was delicious! Great price on the lunch special and a hearty portion size. Can’t wait to go back for dinner and there happy hour sushi from 3 – 7. It could use a sweep but otherwise two thumbs up.

Absolutely disgusting. Our chicken was floppy, mushy and like another guy said baloney-​ish. The service was terrible. Someone mentioned awkward — that is accurate if awkward means horrendous. When my wife and I got there on a Friday night, there were three vehicles in the parking lot. I said maybe this is an indication that we should not eat here, but I shrugged and went in anyway. There was one other couple and the employees. The girl who served us was probably no older than 13 or 14 years old. If they serve liquor, that is a recipe for disaster. Also, her serving skills were equivalent to that of a mumbling mute. She flipped us out our dishes like a card dealer. I watched her clean up some spill on the floor, not clean her hands and then hand me my to go container. When we went to pay, she was playing with her iPad and essentially ignoring us. Lastly, the place should be called China Outhouse not China Palace. The fried rice was akin to opening up a bag of frozen fried rice, adding butter and salt and calling it a day. The fried wontons were super doughy and very greasy. The eggrolls were standard issue frozen then fried egg rolls.

I would give this place 4 stars since I do enjoy the food, but service can be really bad if the owner doesn’t pick up the phone. They kept having their younger daughter take orders and she could never understand the order or would double charge me, If I call and she is on the phones I just go in and order :/​other than that really like it.

If you’re looking for cheap great sushi this is your spot!

Consistently the best oriental delivery. Sushi, Chinese, Japanese — it’s all great. These guys are experts all around!

I have eaten here quite a few times!!! I would totally recommend this place!!! I have NEVER had a bad meal here!!! One of the better places in Sarasota and I have eaten in a lot Chinese places here in Sarasota!!! Plus you can eat there also. Not many places let you do that any more!!!

Chinese food always sounds like a great idea but rarely pans out for me. It wasn’t terrible… But the chicken had the consistency of bologna. Bleah!

Have only gone for sushi a few times but it has been really great for the money! Service is average and décor/​atmosphere is average, but if I wanted better I’d pay more! We go for great cheap sushi (those two words don’t usually go well together) and that’s what we get

This place is under new ownership. Very friendly, clean restaurant. You get tons of food with any dinner. Sushi is very fresh. I bring the family here a lot. I also order sushi for delivery about once a month.
About time we have a restaurant like this in Sarasota.

Do you want some delicious and fresh Sushi, Chinese, and Japanese food? This is the place for you! The name doesn’t do it justice. They are under new management since January 2013 and have changed the quality of food, as well as the décor. Inside, you will find a very pleasant and cozy atmosphere. Great place for lunch and dinner with friends, as well as for a date. The food is always fresh. They have take out and delivery. Monday-​Friday, 3−8pm they have Sushi Happy Hour, for dine-​only. $ 1-​$ 2 Sushi and $ 3 rolls. And they are SO good! They are located on the corner of Clark and Beneva, behind Taco Bell. You must give them a chance and I promise you will come back for more.

I was in town for a conference and sick of eating at St Armands circle. So I Unilocal this place, what a mistake. The people are nice but the actual location was run down inside. Not a good look. I took my food to go without checking it cause i wanted to get the heck out of there ASAP. The food was scary folks, down right scary! The egg roll was barely cooked, pale and soggy. Yuck! The pan fried dumplings disgusting! Even the rice! How the heck do you mess up rice?! I tasted everything and threw it away. Had to go get something else instead.

I used to avoid this place like the plague then I was told that it was under new management! Let me tell you this guy knows what he is doing I have been back several times and I have brought clients there as well and they all same thing, the food quality is amazing and crazy consistent. The new owner came over (John Bova) and really took the time to ask me how my food and my overall experience was doing. I would go out of your way to eat here because it is worth it! oh and by the way BEST EGG ROLES EVER.

Average food; convenient internet ordering, delivery.
Coming from Chicago, my wife and I were disappointed with the Chinese food in Sarasota; we never did find a restaurant we really liked.
China Palace Express was convenient to our house, so we ate there a handful of times. The food was average. Sorry to disagree with the other reviews. Not much of a dining room & no ambiance. The «express» in the title is there for a reason. Mostly take-​out. Service was pretty efficient. Sometimes the staff was friendly; other times it seemed like they had something better to do. Not very personable.
That said, the online ordering and delivery option is very convenient. Order fast. Get your food fast. Works for me. I just can’t justify any more than 2 stars.

New owners and cooks. Nothing special anymore.
