The best sushi I’ve ever had and that’s saying something. I had the sweet potato roll and the veggie roll. Both very well made. Great flavors. Only complaint is the roll could have been wrapped a little tighter because it breaks apart a bit when picking it up. But that’s just me being picky. Picked ginger is more peppery and the wasabi and spicy Mayo are very good. Service was very slow because it was PACKED, there are only four sets of tables, constant call ins for pick up/ordering, and there are only two employees. All to be expected with a successful locally owned restaurant. Be patient. It’s worth the wait.

Goichi’s has been a local favorite of mine for many years now. The food, service and atmosphere are all 5 star. The pricing is beyond fair. I would expect to pay double or triple the price for similar quality food elsewhere. The seating is limited however ive never gone and not gotten a table within 10 minutes of arrival. Highly recommended.

Something different for us We seldom eat sushi, I don’t really know why. Sushi is very good. We had visited and really liked Goich’s once before so tonight we did their cash & carry takeout. It was easy and delicious. Easy once we worked our way through their extensive menu to decide what to order, and their cash & carry menu is smaller than their regular menu. After finally deciding we gave them a call, placed our order, and picked it up in 30 minutes. It was quite inexpensive for as much food as we received. Goichi’s is a small place with very limited seating. The food is prepared in the back, just in case you are looking for more of a show. My part of our order was a Chilean and a Sunflower, a tempura shrimp and cucumber and a spicy salmon with cucumber and cream cheese. I asked for a recommendation for a third roll, which ended up being tuna but I missed the name. All were excellent. With the rolls laid out in a Styrofoam container, presentation was not fancy, but we both said wow when I popped it open and saw all those pieces. Novice sushi consumers.

Wonderful little place in a shopping plaza off Bee ridge. My husband and I were so impressed with the Ramen they make there own noodles and the sushi was fresh and yummy. We will be back very soon. If you pay cash and carry out there is a discount. If you like sushi, Ramen, or rice dishes this place is wroth a try. Not many tables but there take out service seemed very efficient.

4 stars for the quality– This little sushi restaurant is in a strip mall and is very popular. Unfortunately it’s incredibly small — seats about 15 people total. They do offer a huge selection of rolls and the three that I selected were very tasty. I had the Miami, Leaf, and the Shinjuku. The Shinjuku roll was unique because it was tuna, salmon, and avocado wrapped in super thin cucumber! Also the Shinjuku doesn’t have rice so I could really taste the flavors of the cucumber and fresh fish. The restaurant does offer a lot of teas and other dishes which I would like to try next time. Can’t wait to try the ramen as well!

Since my last review I have moved back to Sarasota and have been looking for good spots for my asian food cravings. This place has definitely taken it up a notch! — They have RAMEN — Their takeout specials have only gotten better($ 8.95 for specialty lava rolls on Thursday night!) — Everything is still very fresh(not fishy) tasting. I honestly would give this place 5 stars if they had a few staples that I’ve missed on their menu. This place is definitely worth looking into though!

I’ve been here a few times and I almost don’t wanna review my experiences here because I’d like to keep this little hidden gem to myself! With only 5 tables and the amazing array of sushi and fresh made ramen noodles on Mondays this place would always be full! But they’ve got you covered with some great cash only takeout deals! Definitely give them a try!

My favorite sushi place in Sarasota. The sushi is always so fresh and never ruined by thick layers of rice. My wife and I love Miranda, the waitress there and her personality adds a lot to the experience. Beside the sushi, the ramen is amazing.

Hands down best sushi in Sarasota. The rice is perfectly flavored, a task hard to achieve. I think it’s the best rice I’ve had that wasn’t made in someone home. Their gastronomic sushi salad is incredible. I’ve heard the ramen is great too. There is a different special every day and their cash and carry special is outrageously generous.

Of course there are many Japanese restaurants in Sarasota but as I said in all of my reviews of Japanese restaurants that I only go to the one that sashimi prepared by a Japanese master chef or at least trained by Japanese master chefs. It’s our preference so respect that. Restaurateur, please expand the seating area or at least speed-up the service *:) My sashimi was beautiful. The cut was on the bigger side, so I got a better deal after waiting for the table. It was 4 of us, my husband and I and our friends, another couple from NY. The sushi plate was not bad either. There are 2 good Japanese restaurants in Sarasota. Look for my other review to see what’s the other one(from last year). We went back to the other place this visit too. Loved the setting at top behind the counter, the set of katana, sword, etc. They can do better with expanding the seating area by reducing the kitchen area. There were 4 of us dining here, we had a fun time with our friends who happen to love sushi/sashimi just like us. Saw a group of customer left because they could’t wait for the table that long. Miranda was our server. We just need her to master the sitting plan a bit. Don’t assign alternate table, you’ll be in trouble when the restaurant is busy and small. If you sit them side by side, you can always merge the third table with whoever is going to exit soon. Then you can have a group. She’s very sweet and delicate, so don’t give her hard time! *:) Wait if you can, try at least once. OK price, don’t worry much. We may go back again next year.

So there are many sushi places to choose from in Sarasota but my husband and I decided to come here after reading several reviews. The restaurant is located in a shopping plaza that maybe a little sketchy but we entered anyway. Not knowing what to expect, we were greeted by a friendly server named Summer. Let me start off by saying Summer has to be one of the most knowledgeable and sweetest servers we have ever come in contact with. The menu is overwhelming to say the least but it is broken into different types of seafood which makes it easier to read and subsequently choose from. I honestly can’t even tell you what we got. They all are pretty similar but the Hawaiian was my favorite by far. Overall, the pick three combo meals for $ 10 is a steal. Their pricing is fair and their food does it’s justice for filling up a hungry belly. Just a note, it is takeout and cash only to get the deals. If you’re ever in the area, and don’t want to deal with the fancy smansy overpriced sushi restaurants in the area this is the place to go.

Amazing sushi for the price. They have a 3 rolls for $ 10 deal. The rolls are a little smaller and pretty simple, nothing fancy here. But it’s delicious every time and the chef is very quick. They have ramen night once a week and it is phenomenal. This place is TINY but I love it and it never feels crowded because a lot of people do take-out.

Tiny seating area! But great food and good prices. Every weekday has a special. Monday is ramen. Varied sake available. Most people call in and take out. Worth a visit

The sushi here is definitely reasonably priced, but I felt like it was lacking. The lava rolls didn’t measure up to other sushi restaurants and the topping seemed to be really greasy and didn’t taste too great. Seating was also extremely limited. I would recommend checking out a different sushi restaurant.

A friend asked me to meet here last week, the place is small but the food is fabulous! I’ve been back a couple of more items since! This little gem has a huge selection of sushi rolls, and I mean huge!!! There is a constant stream of to go orders being taken and picked up. The phone rings often with orders, but there is no delay in service. The food comes out quickly, is super fresh, and the various salads are wonderful! No plain old romain cut and dressing gobbed on, no no no! Try one of the Duo combos and enjoy the marvelous salad that comes with it! This is my new favorite sushi bar!

There sushi is amazing, their earth roll is my fav! All their sushi Is Delicately prepared and presented in a gorgeous way! The only complInt Is time. The first time my bf and I went we waited over an hour on a late Friday night but once we got the sushi it was very well worth the wait. However sometimes u don’t want to wait that long :) we have since home back and our wait has never been that long as the first but honestly it’s worth it, amazing sushi and great staff!

This is my go to sushi restaurant in Sarasota and I happen to crave pretty often. Dont judge this place by the outside! They have so many sushi rolls and their fish always is fresh! I haven’t had anything other then the sushi but everything always looks delicious. Here’s a tip though you can do take out and get 3 rolls for $ 10! Ask for the to go menu with the specials only problem is that deal is only good for cash no credit or debit cards. but who cares go to the ATM and get cash!

I vacation in Sarasota about 2 – 3 times a year and every time I visit I make it a point to eat at Goichi Sushi Café. The freshness of the sushi at the prices you pay are unheard of where I am from just outside of DC. The number of sushi rolls on the menu is so extensive that anyone should be able to find exactly the kind of roll they’re looking for. My favorites are the Earth and Fire Rolls. Sure the place is small, but that’s what makes it unique. Call ahead for reservations or just get take-out.

On my way home from work last week, I was at that stage of hunger where I couldn’t seem to decide what I was in the mood for. I called my honey and had him do a quick search for what was a good in-between spot for us to meet at. With a sushi craving(well, that’s pretty much every day for me) and not a ton of money to burn, we were lucky to find Goichi Sushi Café. The website advertised a ‘3 roll combo for $ 10.95, and had reviews that were good enough to warrant giving it a shot. I was lucky that he had called ahead because when I arrived, there were people waiting outside because the restaurant is tiny, and all the tables were taken. The little one on the end had a ‘reserved’ sign on it, which I came to find out was actually for us. Yay! The waitress clearly had her hands full waiting on all of the hungry patrons, and we patiently waited along with them. She arrived with menus and water within a few minutes and we ordered a seaweed salad to share to start with. After looking over our options for the 3 roll combos, we each ordered 3 different ones so we could share them all. We also ordered a bottle of sake to share– and were impressed by the very fair price. I would be lying if I said the food came out quickly. We came to find out that there is only one chef, and he had been extremely busy trying to keep up with the orders that kept rolling in. It probably took at least a half hour to get our food. That said, it really was all quite good and fresh, with the seaweed on the outside as we requested. The waitress was very personable and apologetic about the long wait. Overall, I happen to really like the minuscule size of this café. It feels intimate and personal, and I got the feeling that most of the people in there were regulars. It’s pretty much on my way home from work, so it’s very convenient for me. With incredibly reasonable prices and an awesome selection, I think it’s safe to say that I will most likely become a regular too. I just may choose to call ahead and pick up my orders in the future to avoid the long waiting time.
