Kroaky’s closed yesterday for good. The owners are hoping to be able to re-open ina new location within 6 – 9 months, but it will be sorely missed until then. Just helpin’ out the Unilocalers. sad.

I went to Kroaky’s with a group of 20 people. We have called the week before and reserved a PRIVATE room. The room was NOT private, they put us into the main room with an open counter/window where everyone who wanted to, could watch us. We were uncomfortable due to an unwanted audience, not to mention that they were older, and we were singing songs that could be somewhat inappropriate for the older generation. The place itself looked nice and had a decent stage with decent equipment. The song selections were ok, they dont have a lot of the newer songs which was very disappointing. Kroaky’s knew we had a large party, but we were stuck with only ONE server. One for a room of 20, who complained the whole time that we were moving around. I ordered some chicken fingers, and the server said she cannot get my order because she already had an order of 5 in. She did say she will be back and wont forget about me. But how is it my problem if you have a lot of orders in and cant take mine? Maybe you need to bring in another server?! The service here definitely needs work, from the way they handle the reservations to their servers. To top it all off, they kicked us out because they said our reservation was over. Instead of letting us sing, they let in TWO people and kicked us out! What business is going to kick out a group of 20, for a group of 2?! I would find a different place if you really want to karaōke. We were very disappointed, and we wont be back.

Although it has been a while since I went to Kroaky’s, I have had a blast the few times I have gone. I am really not the type that likes to do karaōke in front of anybody but I just love the fact that I can get a few of my good friends together and we can all sing together. It makes it so much easier for me. The service has always been awesome and the place is always nice and clean. Their song choices are growing over time as well, which I think is amazing. I also love the variety of song choices that they have. The don’t just have popular American pop songs like most DJ’s but they have stuff in other languages too(spanish, and Asian languages). The food leaves something to be desired but I don’t really come for the food, I come to sing and have fun!

My friend Coty recommended this place to me long ago, but I haven’t made out to the Sarasota area for some time. After my beach trip to Siesta Keys last weekend we decided to go to Kroaky’s Karaōke. The professional look of the place threw us off a little because most karaōke room spots in Tampa are hole in the wall places. We found out they have a $ 3/hour student rate(with your id) talk about a deal! They also bill per person, which is good because people sometimes try to leave the karaōke spot without paying. They had a pretty extensive song list, but the machine was a little frustrating at first. It takes some getting used to, even when they explain it you don’t really get it right away. Tampa Karaōke(TK)‘s system is easier to use and if you’re going to sing in English maybe TK is the better choice because their background songs are better. However, for Japanese and Korean songs Kroaky’s seems to be much better. They have the actual Japanese music videos(AWESOME) with hiragana(more awesome!) so even a Japanese novice like me can sing along. I didn’t figure out if they had the Korean ones(since I can’t read hangul), but it would be awesome if they did that too. They also have this special it’s $ 15/all you can drink for you party people. Certainly would help people who are shy sing more. The rooms are air-conditioned well(a must if you’re with many people), anyone who goes to TK knows that those rooms at TK can get painfully hot. They were very attentive with a phone for you can use to phone a receptionist if you need help. Overall, I really like this place and will probably visit when I’m in the area. The machine could be a little easier to use, but still for the price it’s well worth it. Give it a shot! =)

It is so weird that no one else has written a review about Kroaky’s because this place is so awesome and it always crowded on the weekends. I guess that young folks in Sarasota do not use Unilocal or a computer for that matter. Oh well… Anyways, we come here almost every two weeks and have a blast. Whether you are with two people or 8 people it is a great place to have a good time, and a great alternative to going to a club or bar. The rooms are immaculate and the staff is so friendly. I am trying to get my friends from Tampa to come down and try this place, because it is definitely worth the drive for three hours of singing fun. They just recently added some more songs to their lists and are willing and open to any suggestions. They still do not serve mixed drinks, but they have beer and wine. Liquor license are expensive, so that might be the reason for that. I have been to New York City and Atlanta, even in large Asian communities, and have never experienced a Karaōke club this nice before. You are really missing out if you don’t give this place a try.
