My Father was in Manorcare in June for a month. The care he received toward the end of life was the most compassionate we saw in his journey. Anything that was wrong during his stay was quickly corrected.

My mom was in Manorcare in 2006 and again this year in 2013. This time she was in the memory care unit, which I have to say, is not as good as the other unit where she was in 2006. The staff didn’t seem to be quite as caring. There were many occasions where I came in and she was ice cold, despite the fact that I gave them throw blankets and extra sweaters etc. She went in there in September and passed away there on December 8th. The night she passed away, I was talked out of sending her to the hospital. She was not doing well. The nursing home seemed under-staffed. They kept wanting me to come in and feed her, which I didn’t mind to do, however it was hard to get in there twice a day, every day. All in all, it’s not a bad place as far as nursing homes go. Kind of the best of the worst I guess. The regular nursing section was pretty good, but the Thalia unit did leave much to be desired.
