My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here in May. It was our 2nd visit, and we absolutely loved it both times. I’ve been remiss in posting, so sadly, I can’t be specific at this point about what we ordered. The first time, we were a party of 8 and they were able to accommodate our vegan and vegetarian needs as well. The service was excellent, with a very knowledgeable staff, in a very welcoming atmosphere. It’s a bit pricey, but we will certainly be back.

Dined at Mosaic last night with my husband and son and will never return. Something is very wrong. Enjoyed a wonderful meal there in February but last night’s experience was horrific. I don’t know what has changed, perhaps new chef, new ownership? Our waitress was terrible and knew nothing about the menu. The food was also very mediocre, soup was cold and tasteless. I’m saddened as I was so looking forward to treating our son to a fabulous meal. What a let down

Recently placed on a very restrictive diet that not all restaurants can or want to accommodate. MoZaic get five stars for making me feel welcome(from front to back of house) and execution of the meal — Chef even came out to check on me and see how I liked the preparation(I did indeed). BTW my wife’s meals was great as well. We’ll be coming back!

Nice somewhat upscale restaurant downtown. Several good vegetarian options, from which I chose the Black Truffle Sacchetti and Parsnip Mushrooms, which was yummy. Others at my table said that the meat options were delicious, too. Decent service and fair prices. Parking is not so easy. But we will return.

My wife and I arrived early for our reservation. The hostess was delightful(she also happens to be one of the owners), showed us to the bar. We enjoyed a glass of champagne and conversation with the staff. The hostess checked in with us frequently and them escorted us to our table a few minutes early. Some friends had heard we were headed to Mozaic for dinner and had arranged to have a bottle of champagne at our table. Mozaic had arranged the bottle and a lovely card prepared by the restaurant. We sat on the second floor overlooking the first floor tables and the windows to the street. It was a lovely setting. I started out with an organic greens salad with beets that was lightly dressed and very refreshing. The combination of beets, walnuts and radishes was perfectly proportioned. We moved on to the scallops appetizer which were cooked to perfection — caramelized on both sides and white in the middle, just amazing. For the entrées, my wife enjoyed the shrimp risotto. The shrimp was very lightly seasoned allowing the actual shrimp flavor to drive the plate. The risotto was smooth and creamy, absolutely delightful. I enjoyed a corning game hen with jasmine rice off the specials menu. Assorted vegetable completed the ensemble. The game hen was very juicy. The jasmine rice, which is served as a stuffing in the game hen, was cooked perfectly, not clumpy or dry, and seasoned just right. We finished off the evening with the Napoli dessert, molten chocolate cake with mango and raspberry sauce and chocolate ice cream and raspberry sorbet. The wine list is impressive and offers something for every palate. We enjoyed a bottle of Educated Guess cabarnet at the owner’s recommendation. That’s a winner! Finally, a 20 Year Porto to close out the evening. A very special evening demands a very special place. Mozaic hit a home run.

Attitude from the host last time we went, thought something changed because she said, ‘No, we don’t have Happy Hour!’ which they posted in restroom for a while. Food were not as good, especially my favorite soup. Overall slightly overpriced but not same quality.

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants. Service was good but the food quality has definitely decreased. I ordered scallops which had absolutely no sear or flavor. The sauces served with the scallops were bland and tasted processed. I voiced my concerns to the waiter who came back with absolutely no feedback at all. Will be hesitant to return or recommend to anyone in the future.

Had the chef special — Zinfandel braised boneless beef short ribs and Italian butter bean purée. Finished it off with tarifa for dessert. Overall a really great restaraunt, food was good service was good and atmosphere was nice. Would recommend to anyone in the area.

We enjoyed a varied meal with friends, superb service, All dishes were very good, wine list is extensive. Restaurant is very nice decorated, only drawback is limited parking as it is located on main St Sarasota.

Pretty average/good but probably won’t be back. Seems popular with the older crowd. Had the diver scallops and sea bass — was ok. One if my scallops was funky — pink and possibly undercooked, ate most of it. Crème brûlée and flourless cake with coconut ice cream on top — also average Grand total was $ 117 — not bad not great — I’m just not sure. Service was below average but I’m round up to three stars overall

A disappointment: Atmosphere — mediocre — nothing special Food — all four meals were bland. The rack of lamb(3 ribs do not make a rack) was tough. The vegan couscous was mostly couscous very few vegetables. The rib-eye was«Golden Corral» quality. The sides were non-existent unless you consider 1 small carrot and 1 sprig of asparagus a side. Wine — mediocre for the price It took an hour to receive our meal. The only positive of this restaurant was the waiter. He was helpful, friendly and apologetic for the slowness of the meal and was quick to replace the tough lamb. This is not an inexpensive restaurant you should receive a much better meal. Though the menu looks enticing, the actual food does not come close to meeting expectation in quality or what is described. We will not be going back.

Excellent. 2nd time here. First time in June during Restaurant Week. Crazy busy. Slow traffic tonight for all the downtown restaurants. Sea bass and scallops were awesome. And order the French onion soup if it’s on the menu. Will definitely be back next time I’m in town.

I have to say, the lamb shank I had was cooked to perfection, and the presentation of dishes was excellent. The yellow tomato potage had been recommended and was good. But I was unimpressed with the rest. The two table-spoons worth of yukon-gold mashed potatoes, and the minuscule amount of the featured eggplant that accompanied the lamb shank were disappointing in quantity as well as overly seasoned(not subtle at all), the gravy which covered the meat overly salty. Generally the dish didn’t live up to the pretense of it’s sophisticated menu description(including the prominently displayed Zagat Rated and Wine Spectator Award of Excellence stickers). And with such a huge portion of meat, a little more vegetable would have brought some needed balance. Similarly, the black truffle sacchetti and parsnip mushrooms didn’t live up to it’s billing either, being both bland and pretentious(when you have to ask the waiter what something is, you expect it to be unusual and good and different, but it wasn’t). They don’t serve mixed drinks or other hard alcohol(you’d expect that of this kind of establishment), and the Malbec I ordered was disappointing — perhaps I should have stuck with one of their more popular wines. Maybe we just hit an off night, but with this hype and these prices, it should be better. It’s all the little things I expect that were missing — the subtle of the sauces, the balance of the flavors, the counterpoint of main dish and accompanying vegetables — none of that was at the level I would have expected given the sophisticated menu descriptions.

First of all, I will disclose that I do not eat seafood, which drastically reduced my options at MoZaic. I ordered the Tomato soup, the bone-in Ribeye and 2 glasses of Malbec. Tomato soup was excellent, best part of my meal. Appetizers for the other 3 people were very good from what I recall. We waited from 45mins-1hr from Appetizer to main course. Bone-in ribeye was incredibly«meh», after such a long wait my steak arrived cold-warm. It looked absolutely average and had a random chunk of burnt Broccoli sitting on top. The meat was dry and with very little flavor(for a Ribeye). It wasn’t entirely bad(I ate it), but for $ 36 I felt I would have gotten a better cut of meat at Applebees. The sides were interesting but nothing to rave about. Service was good, though we were seated on the top floor and it was incredibly hot. We talked to our server about«cranking» the A/C but nothing changed(we know it was not her fault), so if you happen to visit this place during the FL summer, be sure to find a cool spot, we were sweating non stop for nearly Two hours. Bottom line: I’ve been meaning to try this place, I’ve heard great things about it so needless to say, I had high expectations, sadly my experience was gastronomically mediocre, thermogenically unbearable, economically disappointing and recurrently null. Wine was good, lol.

THEYARENOTCLOSED. I JUSTCALLEDANDTHEYAREOPEN. The food was quite delicious, as was the wine. All four of us enjoyed our meals. Very attentive, friendly service. PS. The place is small and not well ventilated. We’d asked when reserving for first floor seating, having heard about the a/c issue, but were seated on the balcony. It was warm and humid enough there to be noticeably uncomfortable. We’d go again, but would specify we’d leave if we could’t get a table on the first floor.

Tripadvisor, Unilocal & facebook all have rave reviews, so I’m perplexed. Was the staff pissed off working on Thanksgiving? Did they run out of food? I ordered the warm sauteed apples & baby arugula salad w/gorgonzola vinaigrette & oyster mushrooms as appetizer from the Thanksgiving dinner menu. Received a small plate consisting of 95% arugula(not exaggerating) with 4 – 5 bites of ¼″ cubes of Granny apple(raw, not sauteed), 3 – 4 slivers of radish, and 2 dried mushrooms. No vinaigrette. Literally. I mentioned this to the waiter, expecting some kind of apology at least. «can I get you something else?». His response«oh, it depends on who is preparing the salads». Oh ok. After the uneventful 1st course, I was excited for the entrée. Also from the Thanksgiving dinner menu: Maple glazed slow roasted turkey with pheasant sausage apple cranberry stuffing & wild mushroom whipped potatoes. Plate had an abundance of both white and dark turkey meat. The white meat was incredibly dry, stuffing was also dry & the whipped potatoes were replaced with a small mound of sweet potato purée which was good, but not on the menu. At this point, we didn’t bother looking at the dessert menu. Asked the waiter to cork the bottle of wine I ordered, and bring the check. I was done. Although our reservation was 6:30pm, the waiter mentioned that they were«winding down», which was evident. Staff were clearing tables for the night while we were still eating. 1 star for the beautiful bar area where we waited until they got our reservation straightened out & for kudos for being open on Thanksgiving. Although they may want to think twice about that next year.

My wife and I were walking by when the waiter stopped us and asked us to come in and try a bite. I told him that we were only interested in dessert and coffee and he said come on in. The restaurant was small and personable, the staff were very warm and friendly. The owner was a sweet woman herself. We had two delicious desserts and great wine and coffee. If you come in and eat before 6:30 p.m. They have early bird prices. Either way the menu isn’t overpriced. We will definitely go back to try the dinners.
