Best taco in Sarasota so far. Portions are small but you get some interesting flavors like shrimp and chorizzo. I’d go again.

Was very disappointed with the waitress and the cook. They both left a LOT to be desired. The place was not clean. I paid extra for the works slaw, tomatoes, and sour cream. When the tacos came they were good but there was no sour cream. I went to the counter and the cook told me I would have to wait for the waitress to come back she had to go out to the bathroom. I waited 15 minutes still noone who could give me the sour cream. They I saw the waitress outside coming from another establishment. When she came in she said I would have to pay for sour cream when I already did with the works. Not very professional and the place leaves a lot to be desired. If you want a good taco go to Surf Shack at St. Armands great fish taco and very clean. I will not be back to San Diego Tacos again!!!

YES. Bookmark this taco joint. As a native San Diegan, I can say that they live up to their name. I’d skip the beans(too salty), but the tacos — regular and amped — were fantastic. A little taste of home.

LOVE this place! It’s my weekly Saturday lunch spot and I find myself getting excited on Friday nights just thinking about lunch the next day. The tacos are made to order and always delicious, and the closest thing I’ve found to what I used to eat in California. Aside from the tacos, the fresh watermelon water is heavenly as is the lime drink. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the inside tables usually being a bit dirty, but if you ask someone will wipe it off for you(but 4 stars because you shouldn’t have to ask to have a clean table).

It’s Cinco de Mayo so the perfect time to try a new Mexicali restaurant. I had the #1 fish taco… Delish! I ate it before I thought to take a photo. Sorry! Tacos are large so one would have been enough for me but I had no problem eating two!

Screwed up 3 of 3 parts of my order. Learn from my mistake — DONOTUSETHEONLINEORDERINGPORTAL. If you must pick up, call ahead and do NOT pay until you have inspected all items. I ordered 3 small pastor tacos, and chose the 50 cent option to add sour cream cheese and guac. I paid for it, none of this was added. The meat was very dry and inedible. Fail 1. Ahi Tuna taco — looked great on the website. Got home and opened my item to discover fried fish bits with chopped up onion and nothing else… seems like they swapped in fried grouper. Fail 2. Breakfast burrito — looks about the size of a rolled up newspaper. I thought this would be the saving grace… opened it to find that instead of black beans(as stated on the menu), they had instead used PINTO beans… EW! Fail 3. They didn’t even inform me of any of these changes. Just went ahead and changed the food and handed me the bag for pickup. Crazy! The repeat customers here and the people who left great reviews must be too stoned to notice they’re not eating what they ordered. If you love playing menu roulette and being surprised by what you end up taking home despite what you paid for, you’ll love it here!

I can say one thing I’m not really fond of this place I do not like meats that are pre-sautéed or mixed with some sort of tomato sauce it’s weird if I wanted that I go to Taco Bell

I love their food! I love their menu! The first two times we are here we LOVED it. The late 20’s guy at the counter was super friendly, funny, and very helpful. I have food allergies and he was patient in answering my questions. Fast forward to the last time we ate here a few months ago and hence the three star review. When we came a few months ago(January maybe) it was an older gentleman at the counter: not as helpful, not as patient(and no they weren’t slammed), and just not as nice. The food was still awesome but the restaurant was incredibly filthy. No clean tables and we had to ask someone to come wipe it down for us to sit. When she did she used a very dirty rag. I would have given this place four or five out of five had it been clean. So. Great food but if you’re a clean freak then ya might wanna just call your order in and send someone else in to pick it up for ya. :)

Everyone should have a place like this within shouting distance of their home. San Diego Tacos to Go is a fantastic little hole in the wall taco joint in Sarasota. Quick, no nonsense service is combined with genuine care and customer service to take care of all of your taco needs with a quickness. Lightly battered fish tacos with spicy slaw and shredded/cubed pork tacos really shine at this spot. Guacamole is fresh and when loaded with the«works» really makes a great taco. The establishment isn’t fancy, but there’s some outdoor seating and a wrap around counter outside to enjoy a nice day with. I think if I lived in the area, i’d make this taco joint a regular stop for take out.

The place to go when you don’t want franchise tacos. San Diego Tacos is just a small dining room bursting with a whole lot of flavor. They have a standard menu that is anything but, and their daily specials always please. Definitely something worth trying when you want an easy night out for dinner.

I was quite disappointed with visit Guacamole salsa was very bland and the tortilla chips were as well. My tacos were pretty good, the corn tortilla was very tasty. The amount of food I consider on the small serving side of things. The steak quesadilla filling was flavor free and sparse. We both got fresh made drinks, limeade and watermelon water, they were good, good and pricy. After paying over $ 27 for two we don’t think we would go back Pretty scruffy setting too, seemed less than clean. Hot sauce bottles were gross and empty. No napkins. Really? Empty the damn trash once. The kitchen reminded me of a MASH episode!

Looking for a quick bite to eat on our way to Siesta Key and this was a good call. Easy to find off Bee Ridge Road. There is plenty of parking as well. It is a small restaurant that has about 8 to 10 tables. You order and pay at the counter and they call your name when your order is ready. The young lady behind the counter was helpful in her explanation of what they offer and how to order it. We appreciated the advice, it made ordering easier. I ended with two tacos, one fish and one pork barbacoa. They were large and definitely filled me up. The pork was flavorful and the fish was crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside. Brad had the Gidget burrito. It is the smaller of the two burritos offered and still quite a generous serving. My only complaint is the horchata. It was way too watery. It stood out as wrong when everything else is so on point. I would definitely stop here again if I was in the area. Give this place a try.

Very good tacos! I came because the taco truck that we normally go to wasn’t there due to the holiday. We ordered several different types of tacos and were pleased with them all. It is a bit more greasy than the taco truck and not quite as good but it is a good substitute. I would definitely go again!

Strike 2, dirty looking kitchen staff holding cell phone while flipping tacos with his bare hands, coughing and who knows what. Food may taste good people but keep in mind all phones are covered in fecal bacteria put gloves on. Pretty gross will not come back.

Delicious, freshly made and you can taste it! No meats in steam trays here. The food is cooked to order and the flavor proves it! This is dining on a budget and you would never believe it. The place is small with 2 high tops outside and the inside has about 6 tables with some 2s plus a small counter for single diners. The phone doesn’t stop with take out orders plus there’s a line for pickups and dine in. Now, I know why. The chorizo and shrimp were the best. Fresh, fresh, absolutely. No chain stuff here. The corn tortillas are doubled up, the meats are generous, plus cabbage. For $.50, you get guacamole, cheese, and sour cream. Their fresh grouper tacos are their claim to fame and my husband agrees. Easy on the budget, excellent for your stomach.

It’s too bad I have to put two stars because the food was okay, but that was all. For the 5 minutes I waited in line, all the owner at the cash register did was complain about owning a restaurant! When it was my turn, I needed to ask a 2 questions, because it was my first time there(which I told him). He was impatient and cut me off about 3 times. I decided to just order side dishes(beans, guacamole and tortillas) which he couldn’t seem to comprehend, and he kept trying to talk me into burritos or tacos! I could see the kitchen staff chuckling about it! What a hassle! Not going back!

I haven’t had fish tacos like these since my last trip to SoCal! Tasty and exactly what I was hoping to get. The owner is super friendly and checked in a couple times to make sure in we as happy with the food. I was offered some kind of pickled veggie mix while waiting for my order(I need to figure out how to make this at home). Bacon wrapped stuffed jalapenos started the happy feels, followed by those delish fish tacos. Some fresh Horchata rounded out the visit. So good. I’ll be back.

My go to dish with any Mexican influenced restaurant is Cheese Enchiladas. I REALLY wanted the shrimp tacos but not with chorizo and LOVESD fish tacos they aren’t fried(tempura). One EC(5 of us) in front of me ordered steak tacos and took the upcharge for rice and black beans and guacamole and sour cream. One chose the shrimp chorizo taco; one opted for beef tostada and another attempted to order something vegan and was asked if chicken broth was OK?! She opted for JUST veggies in a soft corn taco and had some sour cream on the taco, which she was able to remove. LONG time ago, I found Baja Fish Tacos in San Diego which even in the«chain» restaurants were super, so it was no small surprise that all of the tacos we ordered were soft corn. None of us experienced grilled tacos, just raw out of the ??? Even the tostada was«wet» and mushy. I saw it dripping off of the fork. I asked for my enchiladas mild, with just guacamole. The first was mild with very little heat. The second was REALLY hot. I could see the red flakes of pepper. Still have no idea what was the cheese IN the enchilada. It was white and ran out. Some shredded yellow cheese was sprinkled across both enchiladas. There were two«stripes» of green across both enchiladas that I guess were supposed to be guacamole.(I am sorry I didn’t take a picture). The pico de gallo consisted of a mix of unripe tomatoes and raw, red onion. No cilantro in evidence. I could barely eat this combination as the onions had way too much«bite». They say a picture is worth a thousand words and I think mine says it all for me. Two last comments. 1). Since when does an eating place that has seating NOT have restrooms? 2). A place that claims CA would seem to me to be eco-conscious when it comes to packaging their menu, ESPECIALLY if it is made CLEAR we are eating on premisis!
