Smell The Bread

Found this place online! Passing thru to Punta Gorda from Tampa! The food was excellent! The service was superb! I had the meatball sandwich it was awesome! Even if you are not vegan, stop in and try the food, you will not be disappointed! Also for a vegan restaurant the prices are very good!

Came here on New Year’s Eve at 2pm with my family. Food was good quality, fresh, and tasty.
I ordered the salad with the black bean burger. The burger was delicious– tasty flavor and good texture. The salad greens were fresh. I chose the orange chia salad dressing, which was decent but not exceptional.
The chocolate chip cookie had lots of chocolate chips and an addictive background flavor.

We took our party of nine here yesterday, and if it weren’t closed for Christmas we would be back for breakfast and lunch again today! Jennifer’s menu is exactly what food should be… satisfying, healthy, flavorful, and delicious. Portion sizes were huge, and between nine of us, everything we ordered was exceptional. Vegetarians and carnivores alike will find the food and pastries exactly what the doctor ordered. Thank you, Jennifer, and see you again tomorrow!

I don’t get to Sarasota much but when I do I always try to stop by for a bite to eat here. I have never been disappointed. I love their food and their service is always good.

Homemade, fresh, flavorful vegetarian food. A wide variety of choices on the menu. I absolutely love the ginger lemonade and have stopped in before just to get one to go.

My fiancé and I have just recently decided to make a permanent lifestyle change of the plant based variety. We both were very apprehensive about attempting to eat out, as we want to avoid as much scrutiny from more «elitist» type vegans as possible, but this place really showed us that we were worried about absolutely nothing! For starters, we spoke with one of the owners (who does all the cooking) and she was really polite and outgoing. Our server went out of her way to make our experience really comfortable — She even split our order without us having to ask: Eating here makes you feel like you’re sitting down at a family table! The man and I split the quinoa spinach burger and the meatball sandwich with lentil & black bean salad on the side — SWEET MOTHER OF PEARL! My fiancé actually had to clarify whether the «ricotta» was actually the real thing or not, it was that legit! I actually have dreams about it sometimes. Aside from the amazing dairy free magicery, the bread… My lanta, the bread they use is really something else. Best part? Made in house, like everything else, by the owner’s husband. Everything was fresh, filling and as we were told while enjoying our meal, «made with love». I live down in south Venice, but you bet your sweet a** I will be coming back up soon!
If you are local and haven’t been here, even if you do choose to consume animal products, I highly recommend stopping by!

Amazing baked goods, friendly people, easy parking in a good location.
I also recommend Veg, although they did away with my favorite vegan brisket sammich. Phở Saigon for amazing Vegan Phở and Gigi’s Cupcakes for some vegan super fudge birthday goodness.

Black bean burger was so fresh and delicious, cooked to perfection. The green citrus tea was refreshing. The owners were very nice and take pride in what they do. Will be back!

This is one of the few havens for vegetarians and vegans in meat-​loving Sarasota, and what a fantastic place it is.
The sandwiches are all crafted with organic ingredients, and the chicken is sourced from local, certified humane farms. The flavors, well, in a place called «Smell the Bread», they don’t joke around.
My personal favorites are the Curried Chicken Salad sandwich, and the Tempeh Banh Mi. They also have gluten-​free options for the bread. Even if you’re not a veggie, I highly recommend this place as a way to expand your horizons and try something new.

I had the lemon pepper chicken sandwich and it was really good! Order came up quickly, staff was nice. Very cute place I have already recommended it to friends.

Really good stuff! I had the mint amaranth salad and my bf had the black bean burger we also ordered the white bean hummus. Everything tasted fresh homemade and with lots of flavor. Looking forward to going back and trying some more items on the menu.

I cannot say enough good things about this place! Each time I’ve been in (which is an embarrassing amount of times in the last month) there were two ladies behind the counter. I apologize I don’t know Their names but they are so kind and helpful.
The coffee here is delicious! I will literally go out of my way to get coffee from here as opposed to the major chain store that’s across the street from my house.
I’ve also tried a few of their bakery items (lemon scone, blueberry muffin) and they are so delicious! I took a bag home of assorted goodies on my first visit and refrigerated them so my S.O. and I could take them as snacks.
Their meatball sub — yum!!! I recommend eating in store as opposed to taking it to go. I took it to go the first time around and the steam made the bread a little soggy.
Just a tip: they don’t offer their chips up front for your meal but they have them and they are better than any store bought brand. I’m pretty sure they’re made in house every morning (just like all their bakery items).
I’ve also tried the tuna salad sandwich which had a really great texture to it!
Run, don’t walk to this gem of a restaurant.

Great (rare) find in Sarasota for those looking for tasty vegetarian (vegan) eats. Note, serves meat, but vegetables are the focus. Friendly counter service. Clean restaurant. Has a high-​chair for the little one. Tucked into a shopping center.
The vegan meatball is a must try. Everything taste clean and delicious.
Will be back next time I’m in the area.

This place is great! I was driving down the road and realized it was past lunch time and wanted lunch! I pulled up Unilocal for whatever was closest and this place sounded good. I thought I wanted a salad, something light. I wound up having a chicken avocado sandwich that was TO DIE for! Light, but hearty, filling but not heavy. Some kind of bright aoli instead of mayo. Fantastic! Highly recommend!

The Roasted Chicken Flatbread is terrific.
Gluten free muffins for dessert.
Great iced teas as well.

Exquisite little vegetarian restaurant in central Sarasota. The sandwich ingredients are fresh, and the meals are quite affordable. I absolutely adore the ginger tea. However, the quality of some of their drinks varies based on when you go (think strong vs weak)… Based on this inconsistency I give 3 stars.

Good eats! Located on Clark Road next to GNC, in the same plaza as Publix abd Ahi Sushi. The ladies behind the counter are ultra sweethearts. Their menu is affordable and conveniently healthy to treat yourself. My mother and I love coming here. They have a small seating area outside (only two tables, non smoking & pet friendly) and accommodate a bowl of water for your pet, if you brought Fido. They have a good selection of foods but their wraps are chicken only. Hope they expand their menu choices. Need help deciding on what to order? See my pictures for this place! :)

We were very impressed with this little café! Every single item on their menu is made from scratch, right down to the ketchup. Plus, the menu is almost entirely vegan, which is why we went!
We ordered the vegan Meatball sandwich and Italian flatbread sandwich. Both were good. The quinoa side was very flavorful! The only thing we didn’t like was the green monster drink — it was overly sweet and had an odd texture. Like a juice with bits of stuff in it.
Otherwise, we were happy. And the service was fantastic!
