Larry’s has been my barbershop for the past 10 – 15 years. It’s a rock solid traditional barbershop with no frills or 21st century metrosexual fluff. The shop has two chairs which have always had barbers cutting any time I’ve been there. Larry, the owner, is on duty most of the time. The shop has a steady business so you can expect a short wait at busy times but it’s never been too long. Both locals/regulars and out of towners seem to come through and everyone is treated respectfully with good attention and good natured barbershop banter. LIke most good barbers, Larry can chat fluidly about sports, especially golf or the Saratoga race track or about things in general. I read some of the neutral or critical reviews on this site and can say that I’ve never had a negative experience here in all the time I’ve been coming. There had been rare occasions where they were closed unexpectedly, but as I recall those were related to family matters. Those things happen with small family businesses everywhere. I highly recommend Larry’s to anyone who likes to get their hair cut in a relaxing and friendly neighborhood barbershop.

Sign on the door read as follows: Back in 30 minutes So I walked across the street, bought a drink and came back. I tried the door it was locked, since I was on foot I decided to wait on the front porch. Out of nowhere a man comes out and starts yelling at me, states hes on break and a diabetic… confusion set in on my part. I asked who he was yelling at and why he was yelling??? The reply was that I tried to open his door and he didnt appreciate it. So the lesson I learned about«Larry’s» is that if you want a haircut you must wait for the door to be opened, for the love of god do not try to open that sacred door without it first being ajar. Apparently I missed the sign on the front that stated by appointment only. Needless to say I laughed at his simplicity, asked him where a welcoming barber shop could be located and walked over to the shop on Washington street where I received a great cut by a guy named Hayden.

Good solid hair cut. I’m military so finding a place is important. Why not a five? No straight razor neck shave. No hot towel massage. And 13 $.

Where men cut mens’ hair. It’s small with only two chairs and room for 6 on deck. No TV, occasionally a radio, but usually just the sound of electric clippers doing their thing. It’s pleasant and unassuming and the clientele is typically much older– you get the feeling that small talk will suddenly startup and then move on to stories of the glory days but it rarely does. Of the four times I’ve been there it’s been a repeat plot: men patiently and quietly wait for their turn, after settling into the chair they nicely ask for their haircut, and then the barber obliges them with a slightly longer than requested hair cut. At $ 10 with tip it’s fair for the area and gets the job done. There aren’t any gimmicks: it’s just good guys cutting hair and passing some time with you.
