Dan is the best in Saratoga Springs and the Ballston Spa area! He is more than knowledgeable about cutting hair and always has some rad music playing while he cuts your hair. I really loved going to his shop; great conversation, great music, and always a good cut.
I personally don’t get my haircut their anymore but I would recommend it to anyone who lives in the area and wants a quality cut. The price is fair and you have to schedule an appointment to get setup with Dan.
I love the old vintage haircuts with a low 1 around the ears with a long comb over up top so I honestly went elsewhere for my style of cut. Don’t be mistaken Dan is great!

I live in Manhattan and had a wedding in Saratoga last weekend. Due to work conflicts I had to cancel my appointment with my Manhattan barber and try to figure something out on the fly…
Getting a haircut on the fly is a somewhat scary concept, especially as the best man for my brothers wedding… This could have gotten ugly real fast…
I found Swagger and gave them a ring. They couldn’t take me that day, but offered to get me a seat at 8am the following morning after I had explained my situation.
+ Points for being super accommodating given my circumstance.
I did check a few other spots in the area because I wasn’t sure (even based on the great reviews here) and wanted to make sure I got a cut, however half of the other shops never answered the phone and the rest laughed when I told them my situation and told me «good luck».
I did have good luck though, and I am glad I stuck with Swagger. I got there at 10 to 8, and due to some road construction in the area, Dan gave me detailed directions on the best way to get there since he knew I didn’t know the area.
More + points for actually giving a shit.
Once I got in the place I knew that I had made the right choice… from the laid back feel to the cool calm and collective mind set of Dan. I felt at ease that this wasn’t some backyard special cut, and that he would be helpful and not take liberties with the cut.
I ended up with a greatly cleaned up shape and a smile on my face. The music was a nice touch and the Artwork (all his own prints) was cool as well.
Dan is a good dude, and fair. I got a premium wash/​cut for a bargain price.
$ 24 later I felt like a million bucks.
Thanks Dan, and thanks Swagger, I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the area or just passing through.

DAMAGE CONTROL. Had a horrible haircut out of state, and went to Dan (for the first time) to see if he could fix it. Knows how to cut hair really well; cool guy; great haircut; what else do you need to know?

I have an admission to make… I got my haircut from Dan at Swagger and, at first, I didn’t think my haircut was at my expectation mark. In fact, I couldn’t have been more wrong! When I got home, a little more styling reavealed a definite 5 star haircut! My only regret in going to swagger was not giving Dan a big enough TIP! Sorry Dan, I’ll get you next time… and many thanks. P. S. The Job was offered to me and I had to turn it down. Just not the right one for me… got a great haircut out of it though… so all is not lost, thanks again Dan… Mike

Visited Swagger for the first time today! Jen gave me a wonderful cut that was exactly what I wanted– something edgy and unique, while still being flattering and chic. I wanted to try the «undercut» trend but was a bit nervous, Jen knew exactly what I was looking for (I brought pics, too) and executed beautifully along with the short bangs I wanted, and reshaping my layers. I’ll definitely be seeing Jen from now on. I’m so happy to have found my new salon.

Just moved to Saratoga Springs recently and was looking for a good barber. I stumbled upon the place with a friend and we were both very impressed. The atmosphere is great. Dan, the owner, has set up a very absorbing and charismatic location. The walls are spotted with some of his own Americana photographic art work giving the shop a nostalgic feel. And I haven’t even gotten to the hair cut! Knows more about hair than anyone I’ve ever met. Cuts to your preference, but tweaks the average Sue salons quick cut and go approach by taking his time with each client and working on making your head his focus. He also plays some really great music and will even give you a mixed CD free of charge. If you need a haircut, go see Dan!

Kelly Kendall has been cutting my hair for a number of yrs. She does a great job styling my hair & will always make sure I’m happy with it. I especially love the way she colors my hair. It’s never one dimensional. I’ve gotten so many compliments on the color, as well as, questions as to whether it’s my natural color or not. Plus she usually has a glass of wine for me upon arrival. That’s what I call a full service salon!

So glad to have Jenn Kim back in town! Great relationship with a stylist who just understands what her clients want/​need. I always leave there happy :)

I went here after a recommendation from a friend. Dan, the owner really knows his stuff. Best hair cut I’ve had in years. Knew exactly how it should be cut, explained the issue he saw with who ever had previously cut my hair.
Great vibe inside too. Had a cold beer, some nice artwork hanging and good music. Two thumbs up.

Jen is fantastic! I love my hair cut and I love the salon! It’s a welcoming and warm place to get a haircut. Jen updated my grown out short hair and made it look great! Completely affordable, especially for the area. I highly recommend this place! Can’t wait to go back and see what she does next time!

What a great place! I just moved to the area, thought I would try this place out because of the reviews. I highly recommend! I was walking out to my car and a gentleman stopping and made me go back inside so they can fix something that I did not notice. I believe they strive for perfection.

UPDATE: Heather doesn’t work here anymore.
I’m new to the Saratoga area, but I instantly became a regular of Heather’s at Swagger. She’s good with last minute appointments, which is good for my scattered self. Heather is very friendly and funny and always follows my directions perfectly, unlike some hairstylists that ignore you and do their own thing on your head. I’ve only seen her 3 times and she treats me like an old friend and gives me candy. The only complaint is that she goes really slowly but I don’t mind because her cuts are swell. Highly recommend.

I was passing through lovely Saratoga Springs on my way to spend some vacation time with friends in NYC and decided that I didn’t want to hit the big city without cleaning up my shaggy mop. I looked up local salons and barbers on Unilocal and Swagger caught my attention right away with some great reviews and a seemingly one-​of-​a-​kind atmosphere. What I found was all that and much more!
Swagger’s Dan is truly the man when it comes to cutting hair, conversation and crooning along to the toe tapping roots, alt-​country and rhythm and blues floating from the salon speakers. Meanwhile, you can sit back, sip a Pabst Blue Ribbon, take in the cool, retro rockabilly-​esque surroundings and let the suave new you with freshly shorn locks emerge.
It’s obvious that Dan thoroughly enjoys what he does, that he enjoys people and has confidently mastered the art of giving a great haircut. Swagger is also a full service salon for the ladies. The price is right too!
Dan sent me on my way to NYC feeling great with a homemade CD of excellent road tunes. Nice touch! I’ll certainly be back for a trim the next time I’m in town.

Dan the owner/​stylist who cut my hair did a great job. More importantly for the price and quality of service I honestly think you cannot do better. Not only does he walk you through why he is cutting your hair a certain way, but he gives you pointers on how to achieve a hair style you are into. In addition, he helped me understand how to articulate the manner in which I wanted my haircut just in case I decided to go to another salon.
A couple of freebies included the hair wash, PABST beers for me and my wife, a CD of the tunes we jammed out to while he snipped away, and a facial scrub! I can tell you guys out there after being in Gentleman salons in NY city and MIA, that Dan’s service is on par if not better due to the homey feel you get when you enter the place. The only reason I haven’t given Swagger a 5 star is because this is my first time, and I believe that consistency is what warrants 5 stars. I’ll be confirming this within the next month.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a affordable & stylish place for a mens haircut, coming from San Francisco, Ca we came to the perfect spot! The name «Swagger» is a bit funny but we were the 4^th in line for Dan and every dude that came out of there looked awesome. Love the Austin, Tx vibe with great tunes at his salon! He truly loves what he does and is great at it with passion. He Seems to have a large client list too!
