My 2 sons(age 7) and daughter(age 5) spent one week at A4A in Saratoga and loved it! They were hiking, biking, rock-climbing, had talent shows, and made friends. My kids loved the instructors and have been begging to go back! I would highly recommend this camp.

My daughter is usually quite shy, but she felt very comfortable at AVID4 camps. The camp has many activities that kept her occupied(so she forgot to be shy). The camp leaders were very caring and gave her the personal attention she needs. She likes it so much she asked to go back a second week. I like it too because it is a great way for her to enjoy the outdoors with kids her age. I highly recommend it to other parents!

We came to California from Italy for our summer holidays. My daughter(12 years old) and my son(10 years old) spent one week at A4A in Saratoga and they really loved the camp! They had a great time hiking, riding, paddling, mountain climbing… They met new friends, visited different locations in the area and had lot of fun. The camp counselors were supportive and enthusiastic. Even if my kids could speak a basic English they felt at ease at the camp and they were actively involved in all activities. I highly recommend this camp for kids that want to spend an exciting week outdoor. And for international kids, this is a great opportunity to improve their English having great fun!

This is the worst camp experience ever. I wish there was a 0 star for me to choose. The staff let three kids(including my son) who still don’t know how to ride a bike stay at the center parking lot, and other kids go to the park. And what they told you before you pay is that they will teach all levels including those don’t know how to do it, no problem. I didn’t know it means at the small parking lot in front of this center ?! We didn’t intentionally teach him riding a bike before otherwise he already learned, and we certainly won’t choose a dirty dusty parking lot to teach! The center is super small. If not going out to any park I don’t see any meaning staying there. BUT, they do have one whole day(besides my son’s parking lot bicycling day) staying in the center, on the small meadow in front of the center, next to the road and parking lot, to make a tent and do some games. This is what they called Outdoor IQ. Well, I guess I can organize a summer camp too at my backyard or frontyard then and charge $ 400+/week. The kayak day was super hot. Two kids got«dehydrated» and didn’t have enough water. My kid kindly gave his bottle water to one of them. That kid drank all the water and was thankful to my son. But why didn’t the teachers bring some extra water in case this situation happens? What if my son need water later? He is very proud that he helped others but why no teacher help and organize? Do they think drinking directly from other’s water bottle is normal? Is this camp so hardcore? My son still doesn’t know how to paddle and kept turning right. All the instructor did was shouting«Paddle, paddle! «Well, if you ever teach a kid you know it won’t work many times. If that works we only need show them some videos and let them do themselves. My son does like sports, he goes to other camps and take classes as well and come back happily. But he told me he doesn’t like this one. I only hope he had some fun with others in the camp as usual. But it disappointed me very much. We cancelled the second week and didn’t even finish the first. This camp is totally a joke! The company does not respond anymore. I learned my lesson from trying a new camp without many reviews and without good reputation around only because their webpage look pretty fancy and they alway say good words that they will do this will do that but it turned out actually nothing!

This camp exceeded our expectations. The kids had a chance to hike, climb, kayak, paddle board and mountain bike. The camp counselors are extremely energetic and positive, helping the kids to learn the skills for the different activities and also encouraging them to try things on their own. The camp meets at the community center in Saratoga, but then they take the kids in nice vans out to different locations such as Castle Rock and the Calero Reservoir. The equipment they use all seems to be brand new. One day of the week the kids stay at home base and learn outdoor skills like using a compass, setting up a tent, some first aid and the like. My kids came home every evening so excited to tell us about the new things they got to do and were excited to go back every day. This is one of the few camps we’ve been to where they say they want to go back next year. Thank you to the whole A4A staff for a great week.
