When I found out my co-teacher had lice, I took Monday morning off and called Nit Picky right away, just to be sure I didn’t have them too. While their SJ location closed last week, they still do home visits, and I was able to set up an appointment within the hour! The phone rep was incredibly helpful, informative, and made the process stress-free. She explained how everything would work: the screening, the 1-hour treatment, and all of the pricing. Angela came to our apartment, cleared us quickly(we were lice-free, but it never hurts to double check), and sold us the perfect comb so that we could keep an eye on things. She also shared tons of tips and advice for what to do to prevent and treat lice at home! For a service like this, the price is super reasonable.(Also: they do free school screenings!)

Why don’t you have any information on your website about the prices you charge? Your prices must be exorbitant, why else would you purposely keep people in the dark? Very unprofessional!

The child came in the living room about 8:30 pm on a Sunday night and announced that she had lice. He exact words were more like, «I have lice and I just cut one of their heads off with my nail and flicked it on the carpet.» Mind you, I’m a squeamish person and I am happy that my boyfriend’s child is not. She had been on our bed at the time and after a quick run to the store for over the counter lice shampoo and mad cleaning of everything in the house we settled into our night. The next morning after Nit Picky opened they called me back after my message left in a panic the night before and set up an appointment within the hour to make sure the problem was solved. Our technician was a delight and made everyone comfortable while she removed the bugs/eggs from the child’s head. She dry checked me quickly to make sure we didn’t share the same ailment. All in all, this was a good experience even though the precious one had lice. Worth the money and worth the peace of mind.

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLEEXPERIENCE. This company is so unprofessional and dishonest. I called this company to have my kids checked for lice. They charged a $ 25 driving fee which was NEVER explained to me or emailed to me The girl who came was in a big rush and had no knowledge on the subject(gave me wrong info) She checked my daughters’ head and found lice, I asked her to check my head and my son’s head, which she did and found eggs but«no lice». When i checked my daughter and sons hair the next day my daughter still had a lot of lice and I found some on my sons’ head. I had to take them to their pediatrician and spend another $ 75 on treatments. Nit Picky is such a waste of money. The girl who came to do the treatment explained to me that they DONOT use any products that kill the lice or eggs. They use oils to «break down the lice» I called SEVERAL times to talk to a supervisor and was told someone would call me back NOONEEVERDID! !!! This is definitely the worst experience I have ever had with a company and feel totally taken advantage of. I am only writing this so other people do not waste their money and have very unhappy kids like I did. would not even give 1 star

Figured out we had lice(for the second time in 12 months) at 1 am. Left message first thing in the morning. Was called back within 30 minutes of their regular business hours. Had appointment at my home for 3:30 pm that day including an e-mail with how to prepare for the appointment and tips on getting our house cleaned up. No waiting in salon with other lice infested folks, and I was able to keep doing the many loads of laundry and vacuuming while my child was having her hair checked(as she watched one of her favorite videos) and then it was my turn. At $ 100/hour(only $ 10 more than local de-lousing salon), I could not complain about the service. Only negatives — hearing that the person who was helping us had exactly 1 day of training and did not appear to know much beyond what the owner of the service has told her. Having said that, she was very thorough and personable and took the time to try to answer the many, many questions that we had. My husband would give 3 stars because he was concerned that she was unable to answer some of his questions to his satisfaction … So our actual rating is more like a 3.5 stars. Products are expensive — we bought their comb the last time we had to use their services — and it was a godsend this morning when I went crazy working on my own hair. I managed to get most of what was in my own hair even without their enzyme(non-toxic) product. Way better than the combs from the drug stores. Did not utilize their follow-up service the first time(and don’t plan to this time around), but just followed their directions for nitpicking and didn’t have another problem until lice showed up at school 8 months later. After hearing what friends have gone through trying to do this on their own, I would recommend this service to anyone who wants to keep their sanity. The cost probably ends up being the same since most folks I know that did this on their own ending up having to do it multiple times because they never really did get rid of the lice the first(or second or third) time around.
