If I could give no stars I would. This past summer our food was cold and tasteless. The service was horrible. Waiter wrote on check what we should give as a tip. Have gone here for close to 40 years and the food and service has continued to decline. The owner shows no interest in customers unlike his father did. The only good thing about this place now is the view. Don’t waste your money. Try another Harborside restaurant!

Nice atmosphere and outdoor seating. But service was very slow… prices are decent but food selection is limited. I did get a free beer for the slow service though

I took my family here for lunch on a beautiful summer day recently. We sat on the patio, which was full. We ordered our food and the food took OVERANHOUR! We asked the waitstaff why it was taking so long to get our food, their response was«when the patio gets full, orders get backed up in the kitchen and they can’t handle all the orders coming in.» If they can’t handle the extra customers on the patio, why open it then? There’s a lot better places to go in Saugatuck for lunch/dinner.

Really don’t understand some of the hate in the reviews below. I’ve been here dozens of times over the years and, granted, the servers are all college kids, but I’ve NEVER had anything but polite, friendly, accurate service. Manager Theresa trains them well. The view from the deck is the main reason I come(though c’mon, owner Mike Johnson, the deck really could use a good cleaning, sanding, and fresh coat of paint.) This isn’t a foodie place, but the food is fine if you accept it as summer-vacation(sandwich and fries, salad, cold beer) type of fare. Love the colors they’ve used in the dining room — lime green and deep orange — to embrace the mid century authenticity of the place.

We were worried when my wife rattled off the reviews on here, but everything was fine. It’s old and needs a reno, but what place in Michigan doesn’t… Wait staff was helpful and we had a gorgeous view. Recommend the Margarita Frozen :)

This is the best service I’ve had in Saugatuck. Sandal was very patient and attentive with our big party that included children. The food was pretty good. The drinks are fun and affordable. Thank you for a great experience, I will visit again next time I’m in town!

Upon entering a funky unpleasnt smell(carpet). Ordered pasta florentine and a caesar salad and asked not to bring my entre’ till i had finished my salad. She brought my salad and guess what? 20 seconds later here’s my entre’! Icommented that i wasn’t ready and she said«sorry, that’s just the way it comes». The pasta was very bland and needed seasoning badly! I won’t be back. Just another one of those places that’s seen better days and refuses to step into the 20th century. Kind of pricey for the quality.

Very rude to ask if the check has been filled out before the patrons are finished with their dinner HANNAH! You should grab the check after the patrons have left.

Great laughs at Coral Gables Comedy Club on Saturday, again. Thanks for fun Saturday nights!!! What a bargain price too! Love the deep fried green beans and chicken wings too!

Went here on a Thursday evening. It was a cool but beautiful day and we took advantage of sitting on the deck overlooking the chanel. It was not very busy considering it was dinner time and we were seated quickly. Our server arrived promptly and returned with our drinks shortly. The food was good, nothing spectacular. I ordered the Gable burger and it was tasty. My girlfriend had the veggies and rice and that was good. The entertainment provided was a gentleman playing guitar on the other deck. He covered Toby Keith songs and sounded okay. Not my thing but he provided an atmosphere. Service wasn’t bad but she seemed indifferent. I enjoyed the quiet atmosphere, but I can imagine it is not nearly as peaceful when busy. I would recommend if you get the chance to sit on the deck and watch the boats on the chanel.

My daughter’s chicken Caesar salad came with the anchovies that should have been on my Caesar salad. The waitress apologized and grabbed my daughters plate and fork and proceeded to pick the chicken off so she could wash it off and put it back on the grill. A piece fell on the table and she used her hands to pick it up. Our whole table was appalled. We always rely on Unilocal, not sure we ignored it this one time. Never again!

Walked in to a friendly and helpful staff — even the manager was smiling and gracious! We came in with a group of 8 and they were more than accommodating when we needed to add more space to be comfortable with our beautiful river view. too bad it was a little too chilly to sit outside(we went in early June on a Friday night). I wish they had heaters out there. There was a nice selection of entrees, sandwiches and salads to choose from. They even had some domestic brews and good drink specialties to choose from. The wine list could be a little more expanded. We mostly had the pasta dishes which were all delicious! The server was wonderful and patient with our many requests and as a server myself — no complaints here! Two thumbs up and we WILL return next year — and hopefully get to sit on the deck(weather permitting).

Customer service was horrible! I went with 5 other people and at the time we went it was not busy. Upon entering our waitress gave us a smug look and waited before even acknowledging that we were there. She was rude when taking our order and had no sense of urgency as far as serving us. My boyfriend ordered a pop, which she never brought until we asked for it, twice. When my food came, Buffalo sauce came with it, which I did not order and when I told her I didn’t order it, she rudely took it off my plate. She was friendly and talkative to other tables near us so I am going to guess she doesn’t like serving to big groups? Either way, I am very turned off by their service BUT my dish I ordered was delicious which is the ONLY reason why they get 2 stars. My tip to anyone going there, keep your expectations low and order the coconut shrimp dish.

With all the good places in Saugutauck to go there is no reason to go here. The food is not good, the atmosphere is not good, and the staff is not very nice. They have an outside area next to the river. That is all they have that is not horrible.

Visiting the area, beautiful day. Sat on the patio, great service. Our waitress was Jada. She was wonderful, very professional. We ate the buffalo shrimp, is the delicious! Just enough buffalo sauce to give it flavor, not was spicy to choke you up. We also had the fried mac and cheese, super yummy. If you’re visiting a nice place to wind down.

One of the most comical, yet insane dining experiences I have ever participated in. The restaurant sat our party of 12 about 30 minutes before the kitchen was supposed to close. The server had clearly had a long day, but the way she treated our group of 12 was completely surreal. When asked if they had anything local on the menu, she said, «there’s nothing local about this place.» Ok? We rush to make our food/beverage choices while she continues to have an attitude throughout every interaction, but that wasn’t even the worst part. She went on to say, «you guys suck… your whole group is a mess.» Huh? We were sitting, talking and sipping our drinks while waiting for our meal… I don’t know how that makes people a mess. I’m sure a party of 12 can be a little loud, but we were one of three groups on a large outdoor patio with a band playing close by. After those statements, I was worried to even eat my food for fear that she had done something to it. Yuck. My food was the last to arrive. Chicken fingers and a side salad. I ate one chicken finger and couldn’t bring myself to finish the rest. I have worked in the service industry. I completely understand being exhausted and irritable at the end of a long day during a holiday weekend, but this server was another level. I really think she may have reached her tipping point… And clearly went over the edge… Won’t be coming back here. Plenty of LOCAL Saugatuck businesses that I would rather support. The manager did apologize.

If you’re someone who thinks wearing, or simply owning a baseball hat, qualifies you as «ghetto», then you will love this place. Upon trying to enter the bar area on an early Saturday evening in a collard shirt and khaki shorts, we were informed by the«bouncer» that I would not be allowed to enter because I had a baseball hat. Being the gentleman that I am, I planned on immediately removing it once we got in, but even that was not allowed. We were told we would have to go walk back to our hotel and drop the hat off before we could enter. Dear Coral Gables, two things… 1) If you’re worried about giving off a «ghetto atmosphere» vibe, then you should probably start with the door guy/bouncer. Torn shorts, worn gym shoes and a L shirt for a guy that probably needs a 3XL is not classy. The missing teeth were also a nice touch. 2) If you’re not going to allow customers to even have hats on their person, then you could do what every other respectable business does, have a coat-check room. You know that tourists staying at hotels make up at least half of your customer base, so at least try to accommodate them if you plan on offending them. We’ve eaten here before with the food being nothing close to remarkable. The only reason we stopped in was to check out the live piano music. Which we quickly found out took place at another bar next door owned by Coral Gables… A bar in which at least half a dozen people were wearing hats indoors. Apparently they’re not worried about this bar being«ghetto». Avoid this place.
