Potato casserole is always a treat, came with my omlet which was cold and veggys folded in where not cooked. Disappointed.

Went there with a friend and the layout is very awkward. You reserve your own table and then get in line and place your order. The breakfasts we received were very, very poor. This potato side dish tasted like it was totally from a box. The turkey sausage were overcooked and tasted like pork and the eggs were cold. It was a simple breakfast we ordered and their coffee was definitely weak. For $ 30 for two people, I highly recommend going somewhere else.

Great sandwiches, great atmosphere and decent wine as well. The Sunday afternoon we were there, they had a solo performer on a guitar who made the experience very mellow! He had a great voice, took requests, and was just GOOD!!! Other food choices were also available. I’d go back in a heartbeat!!!

Mediocer at best. Plain food. Spanish omelet with barely any meat. Pricy for what you get. Staff is very friendly though, but my stomach doesn’t care about that. 2 adults and kid we racked up $ 40 in no time. Would give it 1 star if it weren’t for the staff.

Stopped in for breakfast. Slightly disappointed but the Cheesey potatoes made up for it.

Fantastic sandwiches and large portions. Had a tuna sandwich on light rye. THEBEST rye I have had in sixty years. Also, extremely friendly staff.

Fantastic lunch 7 years later. Everything is the same and the great memories I had before, I was able to repeat again. Looking great still!

Cute place! Nice atmosphere. It was fun sitting by the window watching the people on the street. They have some tables outside where you can bring your pet and many people did! It’s a little different because you order your meal and they call you, but there is some service at the table too. We had breakfast and there were more than enough offers of coffee refills! The chocolate cupcake was the BEST I ever had! Yummy!!!

I understand this is meant to be a causal spot for sandwiches and breakfast. I get it. And I’m from Chicago so I have absolutely no problem paying $ 8 – 10 for a sandwich. As a matter of fact I do it most days. However, the sandwich I ordered here was a joke. A really expensive joke. I mean, I asked the girl when I ordered what came on my turkey sandwich and she said lettuce and tomato. I said, ok-can I also get mayo. She said there are packets on the table. Really?!! You can’t even spread a little mayo on this plain sandwich that you are charging me more than $ 8? If they want to charge that much, not only should I expect some mayo or mustard but how bout a slice of avocado? Cucumber? Maybe even some sprouts? Sheesh! We also ordered a side of «fresh» fruit. I believe we were charged over $ 5 or more and we received the most nasty old fruit in a small cup-it was a joke. Really-I spit out my first bite and that was it. Jimmy johns makes a better sandwich. And honestly, if they would’ve charged appropriately, I wouldn’t be as outraged but we ordered two sandwiches and two sodas and the cost was $ 28-we ordered the fruit after we paid for our sandwiches so it was actually even more expensive than that. I will say from the photos, their breakfast looks like it might be ok. But quite frankly, we went to boardwalk for brunch the next day and wow! What a wonderful meal-fresh and delicious. It wasn’t as «charming» as pumpernickel’s appeared, but much better food! And I don’t even remember(or care) how much boardwalk charged because it was worth every penny. Also, pumpernickel’s could stand to have a nice deep cleaning on the porch area. We won’t be back here and I think it’s appalling they are still in business.

Excellent sandwich spot. My girlfriend and I each had a sandwich and beer for lunch, and got out under $ 40 tip included. Can’t lose at this place. Came in because people eating in the outdoor seating area encouraged us to try!

Our breakfast experience was ho-hum. The potato pie with egg and ham was so salty I wasn’t able to finish it. The bakery items were a bit better, with a decent carrot cake muffin. I’m not sure if it’s due to the summer tourist crowd or if the mediocre nature is seasonally adjusted. I may try again, but there are other equally awful choices that could be better but choose not to be.

VERY mediocre food. Lots of other places to eat. Choose somewhere else. Breakfast potatoes not very tasty, sausage and roll tasted nuked in a microwave. Chicken quesadillas were very bland. Cream of vegetable soup was unseasoned, reminded me of paste. The help was friendly and the food came out quickly.

Nice little place, ordered today’s special, tomato soup and grilled cheese. Not impressed. Cheese wasn’t melted all the way on the sandwich, not a fan of Texas toast. Tomato soup was garden chunky, I prefer a creamery soup.

This is a simple basic restaurant with a great deli component. We all ordered sandwiches and enjoyed them thoroughly. I had pastrami and turkey on rye, husband had the California Reuben, Mac and cheese was homemade with no frills and was super yummy! If you are Looking for fancy food this isn’t it, but it’s good quality ingredients and a simple town experience.

This was s bad lunch experience for us…2 sandwiches with 2 pink lemonade’s was $ 25…Bread falls apart… and the meat is just grocer deli meat. the menu said oven baked ham… it should say deli meat like at the grocery store that we buy and slice ourselves… It was laughable… won’t be back… also…they could stand to clean the side dining room!!!

Cute on the inside, with plenty of seating and an amicable staff. This is a great place to get either breakfast or lunch if you want something casual but not fast food. I had a pastrami rueben that was excellent. It came with chips and a pickle and it was served in a cast iron skillet rather than on a plate. My date got a tuna wrap which she enjoyed, and it had big chunks of white tuna. The quality was very good and the service was very fast.

Quick and friendly service, lots of seating options, and large breakfast menu for an unassuming place. The eggs and bacon were delicious and the potato casserole /cheesy grits were a clear differentiator. Provides for a great view of downtown and a nice way to spend a morning.

This place is just fine. Not a *bad* experience, but not something I’d recommend. I ordered the stuffed French toast and a side of sausage. When the French toast arrived, it looked like regular French toast(no filling, nothing to indicate it was the stuffed French toast). I asked the waitress if this was the«stuffed» version. She glanced at it and said, yep, looks like it. Confused I cut open each piece of toast, no stuffing or filling to be found. She came around when the meal was done and said with a grin, «So, did you find that filling?» Um no, I replied, because it was not stuffed French toast. «Huh, I’ll have to let so-and-so in the kitchen know. Have a good day.» Ok… guess you’re alright with that being the lasting impression I have of your establishment…

First of all, the staff was very friendly and sweet. We stopped in after a referral from one of the local magazines and I’m wishing we would have done more research. I ordered a tomato & feta omelet and the tomato was cut into think large wedges — pretty impossible to eat with a fork. The potatoes are clearly from a boxed cheesy potato mix. The orange juice is from a juice mix machine — think cafeteria. It’s simply not great. Saugatuck has so much charm and after an amazing dinner at Salt of the Earth last night, breakfast was a huge let down.
