Sausalito Dog Park

Love this place, a great fenced in acre with trees benches, water and dog washing stations. Me they also have s shelter for the humans that love them. Check out their Facebook page

4.5 stars in my opinion based on some additions I think the park could use. I recommend this park to dog lovers.
Pros:
1. Lots of space for pups to play fetch and for you to see how far you can throw a ball.
2. Been here twice and has never been crowded for our 2 large and 1 small pups.
3. Lots of balls and throwing tools (chuck it’s and tennis raquets)
4. Lots of trees for shade.
5. Mulch to prevent muddy areas.
6. A little gazebo for shady picnics.
7. Lots of grass in case your pup needs a salad.
8. Multiple entryways.
9. Doggie bags provided.
10. Lit for night time.
Cons:
Can get pretty hot and aside from hosing them down and shade I’m sure the dogs would benefit from a little wading pool for the ultimate cool down.

Friendly people, plenty of space for my pup to run and benches to relax on. The only negative? No grass, just woodchips and dirt. Because of the «no grass» we only head here once in a while.

The Park is great for letting your dog enjoy an hour or so of freedom.
But there are dog owners that do not monitor their dog’s behavior; by that I mean, their dog (s) become overly playful and or aggressive and that dog owner is not monitoring their dog’s behavior.
This is the most unfortunate aspect of this wonderful park; but too many dog owners engage in conversation and forget their responsibility to make sure their dog is not harming other dogs or being harmed by other dogs. Really!!!
This is the only negative aspect of this wonderful Park. No dog owner wants to take their dog out to run and play and end up in the vet’s because an inattentive dog owner does not monitor their dog’s behavior and now there’s a legal dispute!

Great people and great dogs make this place special.
If you have a wanderer (dog owners probably know what I mean) this is the place for you: Large enclosed place for dogs to run around.
When it is hot out plenty of trees in the front for shade. Chuckits and tennis balls are there for the using. Water bowls and water there as well.
They provide poop scoops and garbage cans specifically designed for the purpose.
Lots of redwood bark on the ground. Plenty of places for human escorts to sit and chat amongst themselves.
I always run into very nice and eclectic people at this place… very enjoyable… and it is close to Davey Jones Deli @ the bait shop… probably 3 minutes by car away.
Great place check it out with your four legged friend!

Great Dog park. But, unfortunately no kids under 7 years allowed. That is kind of annoying.

Ok, I don’t work too far from here and I actually don’t know of any other dog park in the Sausalito area… so whether I like it or not, I’m kind of stuck coming here when I bring the pup to work with me (yeah, I know, I’m lucky to have that ability to bring him to work with me).
Anyhow, although I’m «stuck» with this park, I have to say that I really really like this place. While it’s no Fort Funston in size, it’s definitely big enough to give the dogs the ability to roam and do their thing. My favorite thing though is that it doesn’t get supper muddy like other dog parks. Sure, after it rains there’s going to be some mud on the pup’s paws, but it’s not like I“m sloshing around in mud. It’s do-​able and I don’t dread having deal with a dirty pup after coming here. Additionally, it’s great that they have so many scoopers. I don’t have to worry about remembering to bring a bag and I don’t have to worry about all the plastic bags hurting the environment either.
The pup and I come in the mornings and at lunchtime, and I have to say that for the most part the pups and their owners are all great. The pups are well-​behaved and play well together, and the owners are usually pretty interactive with their dogs and aware of what’s going on and willing to chat up with other owners. You don’t have a lot of the distracted owners talking on their cellphone/​playing games on their cells like you do at other dog parks (not that there aren’t a few who do that, but it’s not as much). It’s refreshing, because knowing that the other owners are conscious and responsible I feel that the chances of an incident happening is going to be a lot slimmer than when the owners let their dogs do whatever.
I really love this dog park and I’m appreciative of the community in doing a great job in keeping this place great.

Great spot for your dog and yourself with a good book!
Big Dogs, Small Dogs, and a majority of the dogs are there to be social and play.
Get enough big dogs in the park and you’ll see some serious wrestling and running action spark up in no time!
Benches and tables both in shaded and open areas for some nice relaxation while the dogs run themselves ragged.
Some of the people are a bit «unique» and «cliquey» but for the most part people are friendly and happy to chat.

I love this place. I can take a book, homework, whatever and not worry about my pup running away because it’s all fenced in! I keep reading on here that there are «weird» people here, but I haven’t encountered that. I’ve just chatted with a few really friendly people who love their dogs and like to talk about it!

I used to go to this dog park quite often, as I live between it and the Mill Valley Dog Park. Having a water-​crazed Labrador, there’s no way I can go to Mill Valley at low tide, so Sausalito would have to do on some days.
It’s hard to describe why, but I really dislike this park. Someone mentioned that the folks who frequent this park seem a bit «off» and they were right. Just a lot of odd, eccentric people. Besides that, it’s really just a fenced-​in dirt patch. My dog tends to get bored there pretty quickly. Last time I was there, some crazy woman (one of the several), brought her ancient disabled dog to the park and freaked out when other dogs would get near it, going so far at to kick a some kind of little terrier away. This is the caliber of the clientele. Do yourself a favor, and go to the Mill Valley Dog Park instead.

Love this park! My five month puppy thinks we should live there, and I like the security of knowing he can’t run out of the park when chasing another dog. There always seems to be a group of dogs who are there to play with each other and who have good social skills. There seems to be a group of volunteers who help keep the park in good shape. I think comments here about weird people or undesirable dogs are ridiculous. A public park has no control over who patronizes the park. Occasionally, someone will come to this park with an unfriendly dog. Once there was a woman in the park who was trying to train two dogs to fetch and objected to other dogs that wanted to join in the fun. But there are always far more friendly dogs and friendly people than otherwise.

So this by far is my favorite of all the «fenced» in dog parks!
There seems to always be a great variety of dogs here, and i haven’t run into any aggressive out of control dogs!
And when I show up and my dogs are the only ones we still have alot of fun, as there are always tennis rackets and an overload of very bouncy tennis balls!!!
It is also a fun ride for the puppies to stick there heads out the window over the golden gate bridge!!!

I find most the local dog-​owners here are a bit off — (odd) but generally harmless. there’s a lot of dog landmines everywhere, so don’t wear good shoes. I’d prefer to take my canine friends to the beach or a fine trail then running them around in this crap with wierdo’s for the most part.

This place is great!
Wide open spaces for romping.
Good turf — wood chips and grass (apparently more grass during winter/​spring).
Lots of tennis balls and other «community» toys around in case you forget yours.
Nice benches placed strategically under trees make for nice shade for the peoples.
Ample supply of water spigots, hoses, and bowls.
And plenty of trash cans for, well, you know.

I have honest-​to-​god often thought about moving to Sausalito just to be near this dog park. While I adore San Francisco, there really is no fenced-​in park of this size and quality in the city — the Castro’s Eureka Valley Rec. Center has impressive fencing but is on the small side and the fenced dog run in Golden Gate Park is, to put it kindly, a mud pit with rickety planks for a fence. Just… sad. Come on, «dog-​friendly» San Francisco.
The Sausalito Dog Park (better known as Remington Park) is large, covered in sawdust and grassy areas with benches beneath large trees for pup owners to lounge on as their mutts and fancy frou frou breeds go wild.
I have never seen my pet smile the content doggie smile he does after half an hour of chasing other dogs around this park. And he promptly falls asleep in the backseat of the car in exhaustion and joy on the ride home.

What’s not to like, it’s huge, got lots of tennis balls, nice people, bunch of babes: p

Holy Moly. My dog will be furious that I came here without him! Tons of dogs in heaven! A super large caged field for dogs of all sizes to run and chase balls until dusk. We stumbled upon this place while looking for a place to fly our kite. The moment I saw the big green, I U-​turned and made it there only to see my favorite animals frolicking in the tanbark and grass. Tons of dogs, but I am sad, we could not get our kites to fly. –Matt
