Yee Tock Chee Park

Here’s a little raised, triangular parklet that offers cool grass and shade from established trees and the best view across the Bay of the San Francisco skyline, the bridges, Treasure Island and Tiburon.
A loving plaque dedicates this small patch of greenery to longtime resident Yee Tock Chee.
He seems like he was beloved.

Good. park with stunning view of the SF Golden Bay. A popular park and where everyone gathers after strolling and exploring Sausalito.

How the mother nature had created this place and how it is positioned in deserve a 5 star rating. However the people who come to this park left me with the very bitter taste in the mouth.
The entire scenery of Sausalito is just stunning. We have been here 2,5 years ago, fell in love with it and decided to stop by after our visit to Bay Discovery Museum and spend some time of the sunny afternoon by this gorgeous coast-​line.
After the walk we decided to stop by this park and and enjoy the view of the water and San Francisco. First instance happened when I went to fetch a coffee and my husband «reported» me upon my return that 2 local elderly ladies were upset with our 2 year old toddler attempts to chase after the birds. (they said that was «too much of the stress for the birds, because perhaps they may not feel like flying.?!)
The second instance occurred when another lady came with two small dogs. Even though mu son didn’t even approach the dogs (he did show the interest in them) the lady put on very unfriendly face «just in case» toward our son and even verbalized her unfriendliness with the words «he better doesn’t approach them and scare them» (?!)
I understand that people who don’t have to be around small kids can feel discomforted by their presence and both –my husband and i are very well aware of it and cautious as one possibly can be. However, never had I saw such an open unfriendliness, cold-​hearted and somewhat rude attitude toward the small kid– for just happily, giggly running around.
I know not everyone that comes to this park is the same. However the encounters we had same day at the same park quite successfully overshadowed most of the beauty we felt here before.
I am still giving it a 3 stars because of its beautiful layout and its exposure to the nature.

It blends with the coastline, and is a bit innocuous —
it’s one of the most popular photo spots, but it is just now I realized that this was a park. And how many days have I sat and eaten a quiet sandwich on good olé Yee Tock Chee’s special concrete?
If anyone knows the history about this place, that’s why I am here… educate me!

So you’re in Sausalito and not sure where to go to sit and relax? This is the place. It’s just in the perfect little nook next to the shops, and the best place to sit with your cup of coffee and watch the boat traffic pass by between your view of San Francisco. The waters are calm, and there is always some activity in the afternoons here. I stop by in the mornings when it’s empty except the commuter ferry passing by heading into the City.
