Hate this place LOL Thought I would just get it out there and not sugar coat it. Okay, here is my why. About six months ago, we ate at this location and the rice was cold and hard. Three weeks ago, my husband and I went to dinner even though we have a new favorite. This is close so we decided to stop in. My husband and I both ordered Miso Soup. UGHHHH the waitress, no personality at all… Anyway, my husband ordered 4 different types of Sushi, I ordered the basic, Salmon roll and tuna roll. My husbands food came, I told him to start eating thinking that my food would be right behind it… NOPE! The waitress comes over, asks how everything is — sees he is ½ done with his food, looks at my place and sees nothing is there and walks away. I had to get up, get him silverware, napkins and grab her to ask where my food was — the manager comes over, notices my husband is done and says«I will have the cook start yours» I said«no, he is done, just give us the check» She walks away and grabs the check. Has no care in the world that I am leaving without dinner. I wrote the email address on the website, no response. Out of desperation to stay close to the house, we thought we would try it again. This time, my sons two rolls came, he was just about done when mine showed up. He ordered another roll from the all you can eat menu, took 15 minutes for it to come This place is ridiculous.

This is a great place to go for a all you can eat. I love the fact that it is a table service and not a buffet. The food is delicious and well priced. They also have a menu to order from if you don’t want to do the all you can eat. The staff is super. They do their best to get you you food out as soon as the chef’s have it ready. We always request Yuki to be our server and she is wonderful.

One of my favorite sushi places! I highly recommend the sexy girl roll or the sweet potato hand roll!

We got here when the restaurant was just opening so it wasn’t that busy. We’ve been here for almost 2 hours. Things went pretty smoothly with the first order we put in. The second round not so much. We waited at least 45 minutes to get our second order and when we got our food we only got one roll! When we asked for the rest of our food our waitress realized that she hadn’t put in our whole order. We’re still waiting. Very disappointing. Not worth the the money we’re going to pay. Our waitress was kind and meant well, but I doubt I’ll ever come back.

Came here for a birthday dinner. Sashimi and Soup were ok but tempura & fried foods were over cooked and soaked in oil. When we showed them the food and tried to return it, the waitress and the manager refused to take it back and didn’t offer anything in exchange either. Horrible service. Most of the staff couldn’t speak English, and nodded their head in ‘yes’ to everything!

Great restaurant for a casual lunch! Been going to the Eagan location for years so we wanted to see if this was the same. It lived up to it!

A great deal on very decent sushi. Service can be mediocre and lunch is definitely a better deal than dinner, but AYCE freshly made sushi plus many other items make this place more than worth it. Patience is a virtue folks, be reasonable.

This is the first time we ever walked out due to extremely poor and rude service. We mentioned that it was our first visit and were excited to order from our friends recommendations. We arrived at open and were promptly seated in the empty restaurant. Immediately our server rushed over with both the al la carte menu and all you can eat menu. 30 seconds later, she returned to take our order and of course we were not yet ready. She grabbed the al la carte menu from us and said she would be back(this happened 3 times in total as we had to ask just to keep it). 60 seconds later, she returned to ask for our order(again we were in an empty restaurant), and warned us that if we did not finish our food, an additional charge would apply. Strange for an «all you can eat» place. We felt so rushed and turned off by the strict rules that we decided to walk out. 1. Rushed 2. Grabbed the menu from us and ran off 3. Kept rushing us 4. Warned about not finishing our food would«cost us». 5. Didn’t feel welcome at all 6. If you cant part with the menu, why would you be with the«all you can eat» food 7. Zero stars in our opinion If «all you can finish» as fast as you can with rude service is what you enjoy, by all means Kyoto is the place for you…

My absolute favorite sushi place! Such a wide selection of sushi and different food as well. Each roll is hand made so it does take a little longer to get your food, but definitely worth the wait! My family and I always go for the buffet, which I highly recommend. Always leave very satisfied and setting up the next get together to go back! We are regulars here at least twice a month!

Food is amazing and there’s a wide variety! It’s not just sushi, there’s ramen and plenty of fried dishes too! It’s a little steep for their dinner price, so make sure you go with a huge appetite! I have gone again and again because the freshness of the food is so surprising given the fact that we’re in Minnesota. I’m used to living a handful of hours from the coast, so getting the same/better quality sushi in the Midwest has been awesome.

I go here with my family for sushi. The sushi a OK, not great. But there is plenty of variety and we are not that well versed in the world of sushi so it works for us. If this rating were just for the food, I would give this a 4 star rating. The service is very inconsistent. Sometimes we get someone who is helpful and speedy, sometimes the staff treats you like you are frustrating them or worse. I have been tempted to ask for a different server on a few occasions. I can see, just a few tales down, a helpful wonderful server and we are stuck with one who reacts to us with such scorn, or is so slow, I just want it to end. Such inconsistent service is a serious problem. If the kids did not like coming here so much, I would definitely find another place with better customer service.

The food was actually pretty good The wait staff was ok Some hard to understand They just drop the food off Not thank you no nothing Had a couple bites of rice left and asked for a small box They said you can’t take any«all you can eat«items home So I asked what they would do with it … Throw it away? And she said yes I get a some of the reason behind it but cmon ! There are people starving with no good to eat in certain places and you just throw the food away ?! Really crappy business practice if you ask me Won’t be back strictly due to principle

Skip the ramen. Tasteless and unappealing. But most everything else is worth sampling during the AYCE. This location beats the Roseville and Eagan sites hands down. While the sashimi is small it’s fresh and that’s what’s most important. Even though it’s a ways away from the city, I will drive to this place now as it’s the only Kyoto worth going to.

Excellent Sushi all-you can eat! The service here has always been on point and I feel as if the prices are competitive as long as you arrive hungry or wish to order raw fish, etc. Pay one price for everything on their menu which allows the budding sushi enthusiast to try foods outside their normal routine. Highly recommend the yellowtail pieces and #9 Sushi Roll! 4 Stars given due to great food; however, if not extra hungry, prices may be a little high compared to just ordering by the roll elsewhere.

What a joke! I am standing in the take & bake pizza shop two doors down from this ridiculous establishment. The reason is that even though I just paid $ 80 for«all we could eat» at Kyoto I am starving. They tried mightily to pawn off the fried food specialties which inexplicably«arrive much faster» than a slice of raw fish. The all you can eat at Kyoto is nothing but a scam. A place to avoid. I’ll never be back.

I’m now convinced that I’d probably eat Nemo if I ever find him. Something must be in the water since I’ve been craving for sashimi more than ever. And when I say craving, I meant the I’m-willing-to-drive-30 minutes-for-this-piece-of-fish type. Good thing my car still works in this horrid weather, otherwise I might even consider hitchhiking. I never thought Kyoto was going to be my go-to place for sushi, but the one in Savage just brought out the fish savage that’s in me(ba-dum-tssh). Even if it’s a franchise, Kyoto at this location is much superior to the ones in my neck of the wood. First, they prepared the rice with just the right flavor and temperature: slightly tangy and warm. And, surprisingly, fish here didn’t taste like it’s straight out from the freezer either. Compared to the other Kyoto’s I’ve been to, they also did a good job at not jibbing the customers by cutting up sashimi into fun snort-size. After all, I go to AYCE’s to eat, not to inhale food(despite popular belief), so I’m glad they got the memo. Can’t wait to go back there again!

I had a friend who worked here before, and told me all of the disgusting things you reviewers and review-seekers SHOULD be aware of. First off, the cooks in the back potentially drops something that is with your meal, and will pick it up from the bare ground and place it back in your meal. Though every restaurant could possibly be doing this, my co worker saw this firsthand here. She confronted the chef, but the chef did not view it was a big deal. For you sanitary freaks like me, this is a red flag. It was a whole cooked terriyaki salmon that fell on the ground. Stuff like spicy mayo — The owner is stingy and will get pissed at the servers for wasting just an itsy bit of the leftover spicy mayo that the previous customer didn’t finish, so servers are forced to refill the same small bowl up with spicy mayo and give it to the next customer who asks for it. Not just spicy mayo, but other stuff like a customer that took a couple bites of their meal and didn’t like it. My friend threw away the meal and she did. The owner saw it all and got mad her for throwing it away and made her pay for the meal that she threw away. He said, «You wasted my money! Now you have to pay for it. That could have been given to a different customer!» She talked back to him and said, «But the customer took bites out of this already» Yes, in the end she really did have to pay for it. There’s more, but that should do it. I didn’t know who to approach this to so I will let someone who will see this comment do something or spread the word. It is pretty bad behind the scenes. I only know of the Savage location doing this, but nonetheless, there should be an evaluation at all of the other ones for us as consumers. Thank you for taking the time to read.

I’m a fan of all the Kyoto’s in the Twin Cities if I am correct I believe they are all owned from one single family so everywhere will be fairly similar in décor and menus. My boyfriend and I normally go to the Eagan location but because we now live closer to Savage decided to check out this location. The furniture is in much better condition compared to Eagan where the seats are all torn up. It seems a tad big smaller in bar size and the amount of tables. We did the All you can eat sushi dinner option.(check for coupons in local coupon books because they usually offer $ 6 off for two people) The service was about the same compared to Eagan as well not the best but still friendly. The fish is still fresh and I love the fact they have Green tea, and red bean ice cream my favorites!

I’ve come to this location 3 times already. I had the seaweed salad, the fried shrimp tempara, nearly all the sasami, spicy tuna and salmon roll, the seafood fried rice, the ramen and the ice cream… i have nothing bad to say about this place! Service is fantastic. for all you can eat, its worth it! they even have cheap happy hour. their 16 ounce on tap is only 2 bucks! where else can you find asian beer on tap???
