This place was a treat. I felt very fancy in the refurbished apothecary while on a date with my sister. I had some tea with scones and jam and my sister had the cucumber and cream cheese tea sandwiches. I would rate the food as just okay. The service was good and the atmosphere interesting. If you are in the mood for something different, this is the place to go.

Had an incredible experience here from the décor, to the service and most notably the food. We were a party of 6 and had to wait about 15 minutes for a table at lunch. The wait was well worth it. I had the cobb salad with pulled pork and it was phenominal. Everyone at the table thoroughly enjoyed their meals and the finale toffee cookie was very welcome. Our server was awesome and it seems all the servers are students at SCAD which fits in wonderfully with the design, look and feel of the restaurant. Great job!

This is a great brunch place slightly on the fancier side. I came here with a group of 13 people and there was seated immediately. We came here after a weekend of partying for St. Patrick’s day and felt a bit out of place as many of the diners looked like they had just come from church. The staff however made us feel welcome anyway and were helpful and efficient. The food was delicious and we were given free zucchini muffins as an appetizer and free cookies as dessert.

The restaurant was adorably designed to look like an antique library with wood furnishing and antique couches and arm chairs. The servers are dressed as butlers and were very hospitable. I went in a group of 13, and were quickly serviced, which was very surprising. Also, while we were waiting for our food they gave us the most amazing zucchini muffins to munch on while we waited. I had the eggs benedict. The plate was lovely and the salad it came with was nicely dressed, but my poached eggs were over cooked. Also, they use apple wood bacon instead of the usual Canadian Bacon, which didn’t seem to work too well. My partner had their chicken crêpe and it was fucking awesome! Of course every place has its hit and miss. At the end of the meal they gave us delicious cookies for free.

I am so glad we stumbled upon this tea room! This was the highlight of an already perfect day! My cousin and I chose to sit outside to view the piazza, while we sipped our afternoon tea and enjoyed the delicious finger foods. If you like tea at all, you will fall in love with the Gryphon Tea Room!

I came here once on vacation and loved the inside of the place. It was so cute. I was exited about their afternoon tea. Now I consider myself an expect about afternoon tea and been to many all over London and on the east coast. But their after tea at least when I was there in 2014 was just average. everything was just okay. The sweets weren’t bad, but the sandwiches were bland.

This little gem is a must visit when you are in Savannah. I highly recommend the afternoon tea service, which includes a tower of sandwiches, fruit, scones and petit fours. The atmosphere can’t be beat as it was once an ornate apothecary.

A very fancy and unique spot for a light meal or afternoon tea. I had the fig and prosciutto sandwich with a side French potato salad. The sandwich was good, the salad was okay. I had the sparkling blackberry lemonade instead of tea and was very happy! The downfall of this place was the service and cramped sitting space. Too bad.

We had lovely afternoon tea here on NYE Day. I enjoyed my tea and my boyfriend who is not a tea drinker really liked his tea. I was expecting more from the tea sandwich selection, we were only offered cucumber and chicken salad. I would have liked more variety. The scones were lovely with the clotted cream and jam. The petit fours were good, but nothing wildly spectacular. A good solid choice for afternoon tea in a beautiful atmosphere.

This place is great — truly unique. It’s a fancy old pharmacy that has high tea and good lunch items served by students from SCAD. The food was very good, creative and vegetarian friendly. The tea was excellent also. You can do $ 20 afternoon tea with chef’s selection of tea, sandwiches and pastries or choose it all a la carte. I recommend a reservation as it’s not a very large place.

Just lovely! The décor, the tea, and the sandwiches. The chicken and tarragon tea sandwich was a great hit… as was the winter — spice scones w streusel topping. I would imagine the scones will change with the seasons. What I didn’t like, is the server asking us if we KNEW that afternoon tea was $ 20 per person. I politely smiled and said yes. But, in my head I was wondering if she was mental as she had given us a menu which clearly listed the prices. I played nice though… as not to spoil the afternoon tea experience.

Cute little tea room. I came by myself while on a trip to Savannah! I sat by the books and ordered tea and small snacks. Very quaint and lovely!

Gryphon’s mysterious black awnings are a beacon for a unique tea room experience. Once inside you are taken back in time; Greeted by the enchanting elegance provided by an antique atmosphere of stained glass ceilings, mohagony book cases filled with antique books, and an apothecary chest just to name a few of the intricate details maintained from the 1920’s original pharmacy and Scottish Rite building. The service here is wonderful, as with almost all of the establishments we visited in Savannah. The menu is as attentive to details as the architecture. We were seated at a grand long table– which reminded me a bit of living on NY(sitting with stragers) but here was a much more laid back cozy feeling. Like being invited to tea at the home of an important government official. There are several private tables available as well. The party next to is ordered the afternoon tea. It was quite an extravagant spread of petit foures, scones and tea sandwiches. I would definitely order it in the future. Feeling nostalgic, I chose the peanut butter sandwich. If a peanut butter sanwich can be called magical, this one certainly was. The local honey and hand made granola were the perfect additions to this time-old favorite. We also orderded the Darjeeling tea, and a strawberrry lemonade. The tea is served with a jar of honey equipped with a honey dipper. While perhaps never necessary at home, the honey dipper was quite poignant for this meal as well as a fun discussion piece. The restaurant is staffed by and supports students from Savannah’s art college.

I visited the establishment with friends for a birthday celebration. The ambience was inviting and the food was delicious. I ordered the pork tenderloin and was not disappointed. The Atlanta peach lemonade was deliciously refreshing. Piano music played in the background while we ate surrounded by a sea of books. The bill was presented tucked away in a book at the end of our meal. The waiter gave a short history lesson of the Tea Room. A truly awesome dining experience.

I absolutely love this tea room! We had such a lovely experience here, and because we made reservations in advance we were seated right away. The atmosphere is beautiful and really does add to the tea room experience. I love the bathroom decorations too! I ordered the Cobb salad and my husband ordered a chicken sandwich. Both were good but the real stars were the mint tea and apricot scones with Devonshire cream. Yummmm! When we returned home to Boston, I went to a bunch of cafes trying to satisfy my scone craving… just wasn’t the same!

Cute little joint! Apparently reservations are recommended on weekends, so beware. Mostly a SCAD-operated place, so service is hot and cold. Interesting ambiance walking in, good mix of well dressed people and off-the-street. On to the food: «Drink specials» consisting of fruits, teas and lemonades are refreshing. They brought a few small muffins out, as the wait was fairly long. The wait got longer, so the manager comped us a dessert before we even received the main meal, which was depressing. This lunch turned from 45 minutes to an hour and a half quickly. My wife had done kind of a play on eggs Benedict, which was clean and well presented. Home fries were tasty but the bacon and sauce were average. The eggs saved the dish. I had the shrimp and tomato grits. Very average. Underseasoned and completely forgettable. Should have gone with my gut and done the quiche. Everything was incredibly slow, which gets another negative star.

What a fantastic space! They have really nailed the ambience with the old books and dark wood theme. You feel classy by just being there. The food and tea were also quite good. Service is friendly and efficient. My only hang up is that it is a little pricey for what it is. $ 9 for«tea sandwiches» which are basically small chicken salad/cucumber and cream cheese triangles is a bit much. That being said, I’m definitely coming back!

Really love anything with SCAD, so do keep in mind my bias. The beautiful interior really feels like you’ve stepped into a time portal… In a best way one can imagine. Take the peanut butter roulade alone with your tea or coffee and opt for a seat outside to watch the funny looking tourists go by on the tour buses. If that’s not your idea of fun, then sit inside by the little book beside the piano, as that’s really the best seat of the house.

Went for a lunch meeting and I was so impressed by this establishment. I’ve heard about it and have passed it on the Trolley Tour stop. The pictures do this place no justice. Eating here is like eating in a library. The interior is beautiful and the atmosphere is classy but not uncomfortable. I came with every intention on doing the tea but after looking at the menu, I knew I wanted to order a meal. I chose the Turkey Sandwich with Walnuts, Cream cheese & Cranberry sauce on Toasted Bread. It was like«Thanksgiving» and«Breakfast» got together and made a baby! It was DELICIOUS! The 2 ladies with me ordered the Goat Cheese Medallion Salad and the Spicy Noodle and Shrimp Salad. They both raved over their selection. It was truly an amazing dining experience. At the end of the meal, we got a short history lesson on the Tea Room and learned that it used to be an Apothecary long ago before SCAD owned it. Our bill was tucked in a cute little book and brought out with a small tray of delicious butter cookies. I meant to remember the name of the book, dangit! :o(Anyway, this place is perfect for lunch! We really enjoyed everything!
