This company, and home owner Mathew Kenton, will retaliate against you if you complain or request repairs be made to your rental. Did you know that retaliation by a landlord is ILLEGAL in the state of Georgia? Ga. Code § 44-7-24 states that a landlord guilty of retaliation will pay attorney fees, court fees, one months rent plus $500 to the tenant. We lived in the same rental home as Ambie Fowler in The Buckhead subdivision in Richmond Hill. Not only did they fail to address the air conditioning unit leakage, they allowed the issue to escalate until ceiling was falling down throughout the home, a closet collapsed, musty damp walls and cheap improperly installed plank floors with water damage fell apart. One wall was so damp in my sons’ room it crumbled behind the wall paper. Even after requesting tree service multiple times the trees were so overgrown that huge dangerous branches would spontaneously fall. Luckily our children were not hurt. At one point we had a toilet full of fecal matter, and, tub continuously running tub, for over a month’s time. The carpets were so old they basically fell apart-we personally replaced them incurring a $2000 dollar cost. If they did address an issue with the home, Star Contractor, South Coasts’ personal contracting company, would attempt to purport tenet fault for the problem despite the unit being furnished with old, broken-down, pre-used appliances, cheap unusable toilets, cheap improperly installed flooring, and a septic system that would back-up into the home leaving 1/2 inch of sewage water, which they did not assist in cleaning up. During a housing shortage and immediately after renewing the lease, I addressed these issues with Jessica. Her response was to give us notice to vacate. She stated she was very upset that we were saying negative things about her. We just wanted the issues in the home addressed. We were left with nowhere to go. It took ever penny we had to find a place and move. We didn’t even get to take all our belongings, some that were very meaningful to us. My children had to change school districts; my mother on hospice had to be relocated. It was a nightmare. I thank God that we are blessed to have a powerful legal group in our corner.
