Wow… One of my favorite restaurants. Excellent food but the service was absolutely terrible tonight. I hope this changes QUICK! Only one server. I’m sitting here now still waiting for my two crab cakes for appetizers which I ordered on arrival. Been long finished with an excellent main course of lobster mac and cheese which arrived the same time with the Cesar salad for my girlfriend. Followed by my fish and chips but I asked for the second time for our crabcakes. Still waiting. With to go boxes and 3 empty plates. No one has cleared the salad and dinner plate have only been sitting here with my girlfriend for 45 min since finished our(supposed to be a romantic dinner) and it is almost 8:30pm… Still no crab cakes! I ordered them at 6:45 or 7pm. WTF. I brought her here for the crab cakes. I was just told he dropped them in to the fryer now! I told him was that the guy who put on the coat and went outside twice since I was here to smoking a cigarette. The server said«I can’t control the cook. what do you want they are free!» he said he was not charging me for the crabcakes about an hour ago. Hey what do you know they are here in a to go box after I ask them to be plated… Let me be clear. Food was 5 stars but service and speed are less than one. I’m shocked because I have been here 15 times and never seen it like this.

So I started this off as a review of Greenbush, but since I came next door on a number of occasions, I’ll leave my Greenbush feedback here too. Food and beer at greenbush are good, but the service has generally been poor for me. I have friends who love the place, but often it seems like nobody there really cares if a customer is there or not. They have plenty of other customers. For me it’s been the norm rather than the exception that I wait to be acknowledged at the door, almost always wait for a really long time for a table(a tribute to the popularity for the good food and beer), often a long wait before someone even comes to the table to ask if I want a drink, and being largely ignored at the bar while the bartenders talk to each other. I have often gone next door(at Fitzgerald’s), sometimes with others or even on my own, partly out of wanting to get a drink before an hour is up, but also out of principle. The food is not as good, but it’s a nice space with totally different feel, and the staff actually seems to appreciate the customer. They are super nice and provide great service.(I should note that the servers at Greenbush have usually been nice too, but it takes forever to get one, even when it’s not that busy). To me, good service is at least as important if not more so. Definitely worth going next door if you want to be treated well and have a drink, and some food has been solid too.

Wow, I just can not believe where all the negative reviews came from. It’s like 2 completely different restaurants. We had been here a couple years ago, had a nice lunch, was not on Unilocal at the time, went back yesterday, and had a fantastic experience. Sat outside, amidst the herb garden, great service, crab cakes the best we have EVER had, and we are very picky about our crab cakes: these were big hunks of crab, held together only by a little mayo, egg, and maybe a tiny bit of panko, lightly sauteed. Superb! I also had the artichoke/spinach rangoons with an awesome blue cheese dipping sauce. My husband cleaned up every bit of his bacon & poached egged salad with balsamic vinaigrette. Another couple there at the same time apparently hated their meals of hamburger/pulled pork. All I can say, is try it — we had a great experience, live too far away to go back frequently, but will again at the slightest opportunity!

STOP. For the love of all things delicious, AVOIDAVOIDAVOID. I really try hard to give a place the benefit of the doubt, but this is one of those instances where I see no option but to give 1 star. In fact I would have a hard time living with myself if I didn’t get this into the Unilocalsphere…(ok, perhaps a tad dramatic). I’m kicking myself for not looking at the reviews prior to opening the door, but it was almost 90 degrees and we were HANGRY. Fitz’s has 1 thing going for them — location, location, location. We, and likely most of their patrons, sauntered in after learning the wait for Green Bush was 1 hour. We’d been on the road for 5 hours, so we were starving, tired and wanted something faster than that. Boy, did we learn our lesson! We were at this place for 2 hours to get lunch for 4 of us — and we ordered pretty standard fare. The place was not busy when we arrived, but it was probably 75% full when we left. — Service: SO bad. I almost never blame the waitstaff for a very long wait for food, but it was clear the food had been waiting to be brought out. I think it was probably a combo of the kitchen and wait staff that led to a 75 min(maybe longer) wait for our food. Regardless, our server seemed only mildly concerned — at one point she offered a round of drinks on the house to make up for it, but of course that never appeared. There appeared to be enough wait staff that day, so I’ll blame it on incompetence. Not only was it slow, but she forgot several things and actually argued with me when I requested a dipping sauce for my crab cake. Ummm, I appreciate the chef’s opinion that it isn’t needed, but I shouldn’t have to debate it out. — Food quality: Below average. Medium burger came out well-done, the Whiskey cheese sauce for the fries was not good, the crab cake was OK. It did not have breading fillers, but it was binded with a TON of seasoned mayo. No wonder you don’t need a dipping sauce — it’s basically made with it. Fries would have been better if they were hot. Atmosphere is typical bar. There are 2 ways a bar/restaurant situated near a busy place can handle their business. 1) Take advantage of the overflow traffic and wow people 2) Offer a completely mediocre product because you know you’ll stay relatively busy regardless This place took the 2nd path based on all our experience and the vast majority of views. Do yourself a favor if you find a long wait at Green Bush — either wait it out, or find somewhere else to eat. This isn’t worth the time or money. We could have been in and out of Green Bush in the 2 hours we waited here.

Have been here 3x before and was OK to better than OK. Never stellar or even very good, but nice spot, great mixed drinks and very good service. Now, almost a year since my last visit, it’s less than OK. Waitress very kind, attentive — and apologetic on behalf of the kitchen. We ordered two lunch entrees and two appetizers. Nothing was as at all as it should be. I know that’s not very helpful, but I’m just too saddened that what was once fair to good is now fair to poor. And yet prices are like downtown Chicago. No wonder Fitzgeralds is easy to get into when other spots in Sawyer are packed. Next time will just suck it up and wait for a table somewhere else.

Came in for the holiday weekend. Before hitting the wine trail we stopped in for something light and tasty. The crab cakes and salad was awesome. We stopped back again the next day and the chef was very accommodating to per our request. All was delicious. The brunch is perfect here. Updated review to 5 star. Fifth time we’ve been here and never disappointed. We will keep coming back, thanks.

Um… terrible. This restaurant could be great but it’s beyond disappointing. They do not have high chairs which is an interesting call In a beach town full of families on vacation. Food is barely edible and overpriced. Our daughter’s macaroni and cheese came with plastic shards inside. The side salad was only old lettuce with a sprinkle of dressing. My husband doesn’t want me to write this but this is the worst restaurant we have ever experienced.

The Bacon Bonanza was anything but. A strip and a half of bacon. I would hesitate to say that it was even a hullabaloo. Toast was good though. Two stars.

Food was good, if maybe a little cold. One entrée was delayed an additional 15 minutes. But what earned this rating was the lack of service. Granted we were a big party of 10. It took 1.5 hours for our food to arrive. A Bridal shower came in a half hour after us was seated and was eating long before we were served. So not a «kitchen problem.» Restaurant was not that busy. And because of the size of our party, automatic gratuity of 18% was applied. Stay away if you want to dine in a reasonable amount of time.

What went wrong with this place? We decided to visit on a not-so-busy looking Sunday(should have been our first clue) as Greenbush next door was packed, Fitzgeralds seated us immediately. Something was horribly wrong in the kitchen, we were warned our food might take awhile so pre-ordered kids meals, drinks, bread etc. I think a meal of burgers and sandwiches took over an hour to cook. Waitress was very polite and apologetic, but whoever was failing in the kitchen could not make up for her kindness. Kids mac and cheese had a «smoky» strange flavor, my kids refused to eat it. Sigh. Kids burger and fries $ 7.95, no drink included. Charred burger. I ordered the chicken rueben, I was surprised it was a tiny chicken breast(for some reason I had sliced chicken in my head). The stone ground mustard was overpowering, there was almost no sauerkraut on it(disappointing) and the swiss cheese was burned on the bottom. After all the wait, the fries were lukewarm. I couldn’t even finish the sandwich it was so disgusting and actually felt sick for the rest of the night. I cannot recommend this place, and that’s so sad, because there aren’t many options in this area. You’re better off waiting 2 hours next door or get on the highway and find something else. You’ve been warned!

Really disappointed. This place looked so promising from the ambiance to the menu it looks like it has it all. Hit this place with the family on a Sunday afternoon around 1:30. The place had a decent crowd so we were encouraged. When we ordered we were told the kitchen was backed up due to a big table and it would take about 40 minutes to get our food. There was no «large table» in sight. Anyway about an hour later we still had no food and the place was almost empty outside of a few drinkers at the bar and a table next to us. When the food did come out it wasn’t even really hot. It’s kind of baffling. This place could kill it if they stepped up their game as Sawyer it a tiny but booming little town with few options. Based on the other reviews my experience doesn’t seem all that uncommon. Skip it if you’re in Sawyer.

So this placed looked to have great potential. Not so much. Service was OK. Soon after being seated for lunch they told us it would be 40 minutes for our food. It came much quicker but that was annoying. The soup and chili were fantastic. Very very good. But they have no crackers. Who serves soup without crackers? Waitress said many people ask for them too. So get them. Fail! Sandwiches were OK. Not great. Nothing really special. First burger that came was well done when I requested medium rare. It was better the second time but still a smallish burger for the price. Meat was somewhat dry too. The side salad is just lettuce. No carrots nothing. Lettuce. Bleh. So we were under impressed. Won’t be coming back here again. The brewery next door had a 45 minute wait. This place was no wait. I see why.

Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon hoping this place could accommodate a large 16 person party. After all, the brewery next door had a two and a half hour wait. To be fair, there is a sign that read that reservations for a party of six or more were required. We walked into a nearly empty restaurant and asked the hostess if they could accommodate us. She mentioned she would need to check. Minutes later, presumably the manager came out and told us that we did indeed require a reservation. If the place had been a third full, I’d understand their reasoning…(sarcasm). Needless to say, there is s reason why the restaurant/brewery next door had a two plus hour wait and Fitzgerald’s was basically empty.

Ugh. Our waitress must’ve been new. She literally left us outside. Our kids were melting down. The food was blah. I guess there are kid options for food but our waitress never told us. I could write a lot more about the blahness but just don’t go. Wait in line for the brewery next door.

Yuck yuck and yuck. Driving thru town and looked like a cute place it should have read other reviews first dang it! Waitress started off very nice but after our food wasn’t out after 40 minutes of waiting it was impossible to even make eye contact with her. She didn’t even apologize for the wait or asked to refill our drinks There were only 5 other tables with guests so there was noooo excuse for 40 minutes for a burger and pulled pork sandwich! When the food finally came instead of pulled pork it was a grilled cheese! Omg! 5 min later my pulled pork sandwich came and was dry as heck. The sauce on the side was more of a honey mustard. One bright note. The fries were pretty good! Think twice before entering!

If I could give zero stars I would. The food was disgusting and way over priced. The burger is smaller than McDonald’s burger and had absolutely no taste. The service was so incredibly slow. I would avoid this place at all cost.

Can do so much better, anywhere I think. Omg service horrendous, place seems pretty dirty and unkempt. Food is worse. Heavy and tasteless. Calling it bar food would be generous. They seem to rely on heavy cream and frying but the food has no discernible taste, certainly not pleasant. Not inexpensive they might do better just making it a burger joint than pretending to be a more upscale place and serving such horrible food. Off season visit and their chalkboard outside listed a salad Nicoise but when trying to order were told they don’t make it… ok it’s a chalkboard erase if you don’t intend to serve it. Go anywhere else it will be a better choice.

Don’t bother even walking into this place. I ordered a salad that I personally would have been ashamed to serve. It consisted of a small bowl of lettuce barley enough dressing to say there was any and 4 very small pieces of bread with a small amount of goat cheese. $ 12 price tag.

Over priced mediocre food, poor service, but friendly wait staff and good ambiance. I was not at all impressed by Fitzgerald’s. Our waitress was very friendly, but she was not very attentive to our table. It took a long time for our drinks to even show up at the table. The food was generally bar food, but with some fancier options. However the food was very over priced for the quality of what you got. They were also missing the mark in several little things, like no yellow mustard for the burgers, running out of some menu items, not being willing to customize the burgers. I will not be returning to Fitzgerald’s anytime soon and I would advise you to find somewhere else as well.

Ehhhhh… Disappointing to say the least. My family and I get in at 7:00 on a Friday night and it was dead. The outside ambiance was nice with a beautiful garden behind us. The food was overpriced and the service was poor. Our server Nikki was definitely new to her job, she was sweet but she lacked enough visits to us. In addition she was unfamiliar with the menu. She didn’t know the ingredients and the specials. The table next to us had fish and chips and we asked if they had that on the special and she answered negatively. I ordered a medium rare steak frites and the steak was overcooked and hard to cut. My sister had lentils with a supposedly lemon sauce but it for sure had horseradish traits. It for sure was a kitchen error. They took it off our bill but overall a disappointing experience and we will not return.
