I lived near Napa Ca over a dozen years. This little vineyard’s craft can hold its own with Napa. In fact the ambiance is better, because it is friendly, relaxing, in its own Eden. Don’t let the strange roads get to you! The dog is a gentle giant, the gentlemen owners are the best. Note the Tues. — Sat. tasting room change, much more than earlier reviews. They are a «secret» which deserves to be famous.

We love wine! We love good wine! California has spoiled us in that realm! We stopped here yesterday to try some Virginia wine. We were very pleased with the variety and the quality!!! We will be back and will bring friends and family when they visit us!!!

My favorite winery in Virginia. Who ever thought you could grow grapes in Saxe? These guys are a little more expensive compared to other Virginia wines, but it is worth every penny. Part of the reason it is so good and slightly expensive is the fact that they use Michael Shaps’ custom crush facility near Charlottesville. Michael is my favorite wine maker but I think the Annefield wines are better than his own label. Awesome house and some cool dogs. Call ahead or inbox them on FB if you are making a special trip to see them. They are only open on weekends and they aren’t there every weekend.

The hospitality here was nice and the restored house was pretty amazing. It’s on a pretty piece of property and the tasting was free. It was nice and is definitely worth going to see and taste if you’re on the southern Virginia wine trail. I got a bottle of the Cabernet Franc which was delicious and had an earthy spicy taste to it.
