Great breakfast, cute little diner type restaurant. The food is very good but the coffee leaves a little to be desired. One of my favorite dishes that they make is almond French toast, very yummy.

Great little diner! Must try this place! You will not be disappointed! They are very consistent and quick, cheap prices, friendly staff! I’ve been coming here for years and I have never had a problem. If you are in the mood for a great quick breakfast this is the place to go! 5 stars for Sunnyside! :)

Great little neighborhood diner! I recommend the Greek Omelet or Eggs Benedict! I’ve never had anything besides breakfast here, but it’s close to home; cozy; and good!

This little hole in the wall used to be much better last time I was here.(Over 10 years ago). Waitress wasn’t friendly or social at all. I asked her what she recommends and she gave me a bad attitude — as if I was supposed to already be familiar with the menu. Then– She didn’t check up on me once while I was eating. The food was not all that great. The pancakes were bla, the bacon was very little and had no taste as if it was microwaved, and the tomato juice had no ice in it so it was warm when she brought it out. Ekh! Pancake syrup wasn’t even in a bottle or serving cup, it was in a plastic sealed to go packages. Yuck! Big turn off. The bill /price was not bad. 10 bucks… Won’t complain but they apparently don’t take credit cards. Come on now. We are approaching the 21st century. Get with the program. It’s a local diner that succeeds off of old towns people who walk there, and hang out just to gossip about other towns people. I overheard several conversations of ppl talking about other people’s divorces and family issues. I felt I was sitting in a negative cloud. Had to honestly run out of there… was too much for me…

The food here is tasty and won’t likely disappoint. However the owner is just plain stupid. I once asked her for pancakes with strawberries and choc chips on top. She stopped, staring into space for almost an entire minute– finally snapped back with it, giggled and said«I’m just trying to figure out how to do that… I guess we’ll just mix everything in the batter» I stopped her and said no– just put it all on top like I ordered. When she brought it out, choc chips were on one plate, strawberries on another. Today– I got ice in my orange juice. Who does that?! Every time she is my waitress, something comes out wrong. I stopped going there for a while because I couldn’t deal with her stupidity first thing in the morning. OTHERTHANTHAT… food is good, the rest of the wait staff is on their toes. Service is very fast. Cash only– ATM on site.

This is the best breakfast spot I’ve found in the area. The food is standard, but very well done. Great all and all from the eggs, to potatoes, to pancakes, no disappointments and very reasonably priced. I’m likely to return any time I want a sit down breakfast and I’m nearby.

Great mom-and-pop style restaurant. I work locally, so I decided to get take-out on the way to work one day after reading a few reviews. I stopped in midday on a weekend, and it wasn’t too busy. I sat at the small bar by their register towards the back of the restaurant, and was quickly greeted with a menu. Basic diner-style menu with some good specials. Got an mixed omelet that came with home fries & toast. My waitress put my order in and it was out within minutes. Off to work I went, and it was worth the wait. Very basic order but I must say it was delicious. I’ve been back many times since. My only complaint is that the food can be a little greasy, but it’s diner food. The staff is very friendly and if you’ve never been, you will probably notice some interaction with regulars, as there’s bound to be some there. The price is right as well. A well-portioned breakfast will run you well under $ 10. The décor is basic, but definitely has the feel of a hometown staple. Haven’t had the lunch menu, but totally worth a stop if you’re looking for a good breakfast joint in the area.

ordered takeout. $ 10 for french toast and sausage with a side of oj(a «special») is… no, just, no. I may give it another shot and order from their non-breakfast items, but I’d have to get the bad taste(of oj-from-concentrate) out of my mouth first…

Decided to check this place out based on the good reviews. The prices aren’t bad at all and the breakfast was good, but what diner doesn’t serve good eggs and home fries? No credit cards accepted and service was lackluster(no refill offer on the coffee) despite not being very busy. It’s the little things that make or break a diner.

Like with other 5-star reviewers, this place is a hidden gem. We try to go whenever our diet allows it after Sunday mass. Best pancakes/french toast I ever tasted! Beats other Diners in the area that we’ve been to, including E. Brunswick’s. Tried to replicate these moist delicious pancakes and just cant. Recipe please! No, don’t! Just keep it so we can keep salivating and coming back!

Was out here for a day trip and stumbled over this little gem. Small hole in the wall, but great bang for your buck. We had breakfast here and the specials were all inclusive and good price. Food was good, not too much and not too little. I’m not from here so I was a little surprised that the juices were so small(5 oz) but apparently that’s a NJ thing.

Grew up in Sayreville, and heard about this place for years. Never really had an urge to try it before… but lately the fiancé and I have been big on breakfast/brunch places. The 2 of us have been pretty spoiled though, eating at great brunch places in Philly and south Jersey, so yeah we have a pretty high standard level right now. Compared to some of these other places, Sunny Side Up doesn’t exactly impress right away based on looks. However, getting past that, the food is actually pretty good! I went with the Eggs Benedict meal, which included a Coffee, Orange Juice, and side of home fries for like $ 9! Great deal, and everything was on point. Definitely gonna make my way to Sunny Side more often now that I know it’s so good and so close to home.

Decided to go here for breakfast to try a new place with my Fiancé & Mom — we were very happy we did! We all loved our food & the service was great! The prices are also very affordable! Read a few reviews saying the French toast was good, I am not a French toast person but decided to try it — it was amazing! I will deffinetly be going back here & would recommend it to others!

One of those hidden gems in a small town. Friendly staff, good food, good service. French toast is always perfect. You could drive right past it and never know it was there.
