3rd Avenue Salon

You know this little salon is bigger than it appears. From the outside it looks like a little house — and it extends a pretty large way in the back. I love the homey feel this salon has — kind of right out of steel magnolias but much larger. The first thing you notice when you walk in is the vibe — without getting all woo woo I’ll just say the energy is great.
If Char’s there you can hear her unmistakable laugh which always puts a big smile on my face every time I hear it. The next thing you’ll notice is the very cool retro feel this shop has. The owner Char is a huge fan of Marilyn Monroe and you can find Marilyn everywhere in the shop– it’s pretty awesome and impressive.
This is a full service salon — they offer cuts, color, perms, waxing, massage, manicures, pedicures, as well as acrylics and shellac. Their nail tech is a hoot, high energy, full of song.
They also have a very cool boutique within the shop that offers all kinds of treasures to peruse that you should really check out.
They have three other stylists who are great and who I’d allow to do my hair with great confidence.
But let’s get back to Char. The skill she has with hair has got to be more than a skill — I find this for her it’s a vocation — she’s truly an artist. She’s very hands on, very committed to partner with her clients to find the right style, right color, and educates her clients on keeping a healthy head of hair.
Her vision as an artist is just mind blowing!
And if for any reason you aren’t satisfied they will do what it takes to make it right!

Went in to get my hair done as a bridesmaid. I have medium to short, easy to style hair. I had a simple picture of an updo on short hair that the bride wanted me to have. I’m not sure who was the stylist. But she couldn’t manage the hairstyle. It took half an hour to put in one braid and I had to have her change it multiple times because it looked terrible. So I left with a simple braid on one side (that fell out as soon as I got to the venue and re-​did it myself) and paid $ 45 for it. Will be calling back on Tuesday to get money back. The other bridesmaids hair was done there as well and looked very similar to the other bridal party’s hair that was there. Nothing like their picture.
