I was very disappointed with this company. We hired them to load furniture from our house in Freeport, store it for a few months in their storage facility in Scarborough, and then deliver it to our new house in Freeport. When it was delivered, they had badly damaged an antique desk and side table, damaged a Queen Ann high boy and lost brass fittings from the high boy and another desk. In addition, they had completely lost two shipping boxes. We had not purchased additional insurance from them as our homeowners insurance covered theft, fire and flood while in storage. However, we had never anticipated that the movers would be careless and negligent in handling our things. They were unapologetic about the damage, did not even offer to search for the lost boxes, and payed us 10 cents per pound to settle the claim. This was a total of $ 32. I would not recommend using them to move your things if you care about the condition of those things when they arrive. Our move was not complicated and did not require transfer over long distances. 20 miles each way to their storage facility. While it is reasonable to think that something might be damaged during a move, who would think that this much damage would be caused with such an easy move? I can only conclude that they were negligent and careless. I can only imagine the damage that would be done with a long distance move and I can’t figure out how they managed to lose boxes on our job unless through carelessness or theft. Both unacceptable. If you do need to use them, I strongly recommend that you purchase additional insurance so that you will at least be fairly compensated for your losses.
