Scarborough Public Library

Beautiful little library however crazy noisy. Librarians yacking amongst themselves, laughing, kids run around. Little kids, bug kids. A couple of the librarians respectfully work on keeping voices low and redirecting kids– others, no regard. Barnes and Noble is less loud. It’s disappointing.

I love this library! It isn’t large like the Portland one. It has a great layout. The employees are extremely helpful and knowledgable about the topic you’re searching for. There Are also lots of movies and tv shows on DVD & VHS. They have a bunch of books on tapes, too. It’s a great selection! It’s so peaceful.

Scarborough Library is a very pleasant and functionally library that is amazing large considering how small the town of Scarborough really is.
Plenty of room to move around and find a comfy place to sit. It was designed so lots of natural light comes in and gives a soft background inside. Colorful gardens and flowers give color to both the inside and out.
The library has some interesting art, maps and old photos scattered around and has a huge children’s department with cool things for the kids to look at and play with. There is lots of local history inside and the librarians were very friendly and helpful.
When we were there they were having a huge book sale event with several tents assembled outside of the main library. It was well attended and we could see people carrying out armful of books.
A nice library for the people of Scarborough and a pleasant place to stop for a while visiting the town. You just might leave with a lot more books than you walked in with.
