Stopped in today for lunch with my boss and a coworker. It is pretty much just another in a long line of gastropub chain clones that all of us have seen renditions of ad nauseam. If you have visited enough of these types of places(TGI Fridays, Chili’s, Applebee’s, etc.) then you can probably guess what they serve without even having to open the menu. Not to say that the food here was bad, as I liked the potato soup and the burger, it is just that it’s so familiar and boring to me. Most of the time I get fairly detailed in the reviews I pen here on Unilocal, but in this instance, there is not much more to really say.

I am occasionally in the area and love to come here. Four of us went yesterday for a late lunch. Our server was a tall man with black hair. Our drinks took a bit longer than usual but he explained that the bartender was training so we understood. I ordered the cobb salad which is my favorite item on the menu! It was fantastic as usual. My husband ordered a burger and sweet frys. The server brought over what was his favorite dipping sauce for the frys without us asking. We loved it. The server went above and beyond expectations and provided phenomenal customer service!

Appears to be under new management? Whatever the cause they are raising prices and limiting selection. There was a drink special on the new«beer sheet» but when we ordered the $ 2 draft we were told it’s now $ 3(despite being on all ads as $ 2.) Also despite beers being crossed off the draught list, the one we ordered we were told had been replaced by… another beer already on the list?! Lastly despite there being steak tacos on the menu, I was told it would be «impossible» to make one single steak taco for my daughter. No discussion of price, sides, etc – just«impossible». After years of coming here, I’d say the recent changes are for the worse! To top it off the bathroom stall didn’t lock. Trying to save money?

Food service was slow. 30 min to get a meal and they were not busy. Bathrooms were awful. Smelled of swamp gas as soon as you went in.

Me and my boyfriend went on a Friday night and it started out great. Beers came right on time, waiter was always attentive and it seemed like everything was going just fine. I ordered a steak dish that came with mashed potatoes and some vegetables. I started to eat it and though it tasted a bit off but nonetheless I was having a good time so I thought it might just be me. I was full after eating about half the dish so my boyfriend finished off the rest for me. We came home and felt a bit sick to the stomach but we figured it was because we had drank a couple beers but when the middle of the night came, we both knew it wasn’t the beer. We started to throw up uncontrollably and diarrhea like mad. I still tried to go to work in the morning but I was throwing up too much to last my 8 hour work day. I went home after 2 hours of working while throwing up. My boyfriend and I both stayed home for two days after that because we could barely drink water without throwing up. This was food poisoning without a doubt. We looked online to see if they had a customer service number that we could call but shadily enough they had no number on their website. So we called the restaurant and asked to speak to a manager but we were put on hold and hung up on. So we called again and asked them to transfer us to their headquarters. They gave us a number that we tried calling but no answer yet again. A week later my boyfriend was talking to his coworker who apparently had a friend that went to Champps on the same day as us and oddly enough also suffered from food poisioning for a couple days. Apparently the mashed potatoes were the problem. I will never go back to that restaurant again. Although they have very reasonably priced food and wonderful servers, I would rather have a healthy stomach and not be throwing up my innards for two days. It’s just not worth it and its shady that they don’t have a customer service line on their website given that they are a chain restaurant corporation. Be wary of their food.

Just came to pick up a slice of cheesecake to go. The food the people were eating looked weird. Just wanted a dessert for the evening.

First visit, Robert made a feeble attempt at being a waiter. Rarely did we see him… reminded him that we ordered drinks…10 minutes ago. Ordered Chopped Salad, got Cobb Salad, and this was after hunting him down to ask why our food order was taking so long. He didn’t apologize but rather told me that«Cobb Salad is basically the same as Chopped Salad.»…NOT. Went back with husband a month later(guess I don’t learn from my mistakes). We were seated and who walks up to our table? Robert. Ordered two beers…10 minutes later we were still staring at two beers sitting on the bar counter and wondered what was keeping Robert so busy that he couldn’t bring our beers to us. Again, he was barely attentive and the place was empty. He overcharged us for the beer(which the manager adjusted). At least he didn’t mess up the food order this time. WEWON’T BEBACK. Way better choices in the immediate area.

I was very impressed when i came here. Pretty packed but only waited 10 minutes for a booth. The food was so delicious. And the drinks had me tipsy. The waitress was very kind and welcoming. I’d definetly come back to this place.

Most of my reviews are 1 star or 5 star reviews. Either I had a horrible experience, or I had an experience that was above and beyond amazing. I am giving champs 4 stars because as it says when I clicked on 4 stars, 4 stars means ‘Yay! I’m a fan’. I guess I am a fan, because I visit this restaurant usually at least a few times a year. I frequent lots of restaurnts in my area, so a few times a year means I like it enough to keep going back! I am not a big fan of their mixed bar drinks; the margharitta I had there was just horrible. But, their other drinks are fine, and their food is good, and the price isn’t bad at all. I usually go here when I am in the mood for chicken quesadillas. They give a nice huge portion for a good price. I usually eat half, and bring half home. They are delicious! I have tried many of their other food items in the past as well, and as far as I can remember, all of it was good, I don’t remember ever having a bad meal. But, over time, this place just became the place I go when I want those chicken quesadillas :) Stop in and try them out… you don’t have to order the quesadillas lol, try anything, their bergers are pretty good too!

I visited Champps on a weekend for an early dinner with my daughter and the place was packed. There were tons of people standing around waiting for a table, but luckily for us a spot at the bar just opened up so we were able to grab it and sit right away. The chair was uncomfortable, but at least I didn’t have to wait too long to eat. The bartender was very attentive and took care of us right away. I had eaten like a pig all week so I was looking for something on the lighter side. Champps has a few items on their menu that are less than 650 calories so I ordered the fish tacos. My daughter had the burger that came with a basket of fries. Both entrees tasted good but were nothing special. Champps is a typical sports bar with lots of seating, but gets really packed on the weekends(as do most places in Schaumburg). Try to grab a seat at the bar if you can to avoid the long wait times.

Just finished lunch… I feel sick. The presentation and service was good. I had a bun less double burger with grilled veggies. Why I didn’t return the burger is beyond me. I was hungry! But the burger was room temp and bloody. So bloody and rare it left a puddle. They didn’t ask what temp I wanted the burger but I figured since their menu has a raw food warning, that it would be at least medium well. Nope! Not sure I feel sick from the food or from over thinking it. Now mind you, I take all my meat cuts medium rare except for burgers since the chance of food poisoning is higher in ground beef. I’ll be praying my stomach is stronger than any food bugs! I do come here regularly… but this one will keep me away for a while!

I used to frequent the Champps in skokie before they shut it down.(Still upset about that) I had no idea there was one in Schaumburg till I happened to pass it awhile back. Last time my server was a guy with glasses who was a rockstar so when the girlfriend and I went back we asked for him. Unfortunately the host told us he no longer worked there so we sat at the bar. Service was great our bartender Skyler was super attentive. I’ve always really liked the food they serve but the last time I went in the menu was a fraction of what it was when I would go into the skokie location. So you can imagine how happy I was when they added back the chipotle burger. Unfortunately the rumors are this one won’t be here much longer either so I’m gonna have to make that trip out before its gone.

Can’t review this place low enough in my opinion. The food here is totally unimaginative. The service is ok, but this is not a redeeming quality by any means. I don’t appreciate frozen food in any form and your food is unfortunately not an exception to this rule. This place sounds good in concept, but it really just ends up being Applebee’s under the guise of a sports bar. Not coming back any time soon.

It’s great to come here with friends and watch the games because there are TVs everywhere! I feel like the food doesn’t taste as good as they charge you. Fries are definitely not that great. None of the veggies in our group liked their food, so I guess it’s not a veggie place. We got the Nachos for appetizers and those actually tasted better than my food(good for veggies). If you order the huge nacho dish, you can share it with a group of 7 – 8 people easily. We came in as a group of 12 and they had to combine a circle table with a small square table, which wasn’t that big of a deal but just know that it could happen if you come in with a big group.

first time I went here was to watch a UFC fight. Didn’t take long to get a table. As we sat and watch the fights, I ordered my food. Practically a burger with fries. Unbeknownst to me, my fries were waffle fries, covered in cheese. All I can say is that night, I fell in love with waffle fries. I never knew they were that good. Especially with the melted cheese. The next time went back, I thought I had ordered the same thing. Turns out I didn’t. Oops. Place can get a little crowded considering its location. But I think it’s worth going to. I recommend it for those who want to try something new.

I’ve been staying in a hotel behind Champps for two weeks and I finally paid it a visit last night! I’m so angry that I waited so long! $ 5 apps until 6pm(its starts back up later, not sure what time) and they had $ 4.50 margaritas. It was a Wednesday night so I’m sure their drink specials change. Anyway, I ordered the wings and spinach dip and I was very pleased, shocked actually. I wasnt expecting the food to be that good! The sauce on the wings was delicious(I ordered half hot honey/garlic parmesan). Adam at the bar was GREAT! He really did a great job. The drink was delicious, but not strong at all. One star taken for the weak drink and a scrawny, meatless wing that was put on my plate. The music was also really loud. For no reason. Minor ish, but important! Actually headed back there again for some wings now.

This is a typical Sports Bar” with a few better ideas for the today’s customer. If you actually eat here, they will let you choose from 9 different sides for the average sandwich or entrée — not just«fries or chips». No extra charge for a salad or Onion Rings here. Beer drinkers get a break on Tuesdays and Thursdays with deep discounts on Draft pints. The food items we had were quite good, the service at Lunch was just fine. As a benefit, the good wifi has no stupid sign in!

I’m a fan of this place but it’s not screaming 5 stars, so 4 does it. I never go here by choice. It’s always a meetup spot for a few friends since Schaumburg is a pretty central location. A few of us stopped in on a Thursday night and lucky for us, all pints were $ 2. That’s a great deal, especially since it included any domestic or import, as long as it was on draft. After a few drinks at the bar, we headed over to our table. Our waitress was pretty attentive, we drank for a while then finally ordered. Our food came out in a timely manner. I ordered the Grown-Up Grilled Cheese with Sweet Potato Waffle Fries. The grilled cheese was awesome; it’s everything you could want on cheese. Bacon, an egg… I can’t really think of what else but isn’t that good enough? Waffle fries are hands down my fav type of fry and the only way to make them better is out of sweet potatoes. They were unbelievable. It was one of those things where I wanted everyone to taste them, but I didn’t want to share, but they were so good that I had to share. It was one of those moments. We stayed for a while longer and the waitress did a good job of keeping the drinks filled. It’ll definitely continue to be our go-to when meeting up in the area.

Came here on a Sunday for lunch. We came just around noon to catch the 1st half of the Bears game. This place was pretty busy and they had all of the games on. They made sure to seat us in a spot where we would be able to see the game we wanted. The wife and I picked out probably the five most random things to have this day. Together we had the Chicken Caesar Salad, Seared Ahi Tuna, a Bud Light, Bloody Mary, and a Mile High Pie. Talk about confused. Everything above was pretty much standard and I would say we had no complaints. The bloody Mary bar had finger food and all the extras that you would want to add to your drink. Overall, it was decent and I would consider coming back to watch another game and have a bite to eat.

I really enjoyed Champps late night appetizer menu. BTW Champps, change the spelling, I had a bitch of a time finding you on Unilocal. Our flight touched down around 9:30 pm and it was about a 45 minute drive to our hotel. I was amazed at all of the places that closed down by 10 pm. My daughter mentioned Champps since our hotel didn’t know of anything. So we called Champps for their awesome directions. The bar manager was expecting us and took care of us with a nice table in the bar. My wife and I feasted on the chicken flatbread, these gigantic Mongolian Egg Rolls and Kobe Sliders. All the food was outstanding. My favorite had to be the Kobe Sliders. I washed down the eggs rolls with their spicy sauce, yum. The flatbread was excellent as well. We had left overs and only paid $ 5 an app. The bartender serving us has some people skills and I’m sure he rakes in the tips. The tunes they played were awesome, Talking Heads, Springsteen, etc. We were basically the last people out of there that night. I found out that Schaumburg doesn’t party on Wednesdays. I would definitely return to Champps for some late nite eats and drinks.
