Cut and Color

Waaaay too overpriced, tried to suck out as much money as they can in one appointment– under experienced and underemployed staff. Would not recommend, save your money & time for somewhere better and logical.

Booked an appt for an updo at this salon, can’t remember what the stylist name was but she had pink hair. I showed her a picture of an updo that I was going for and she seemed confident she could deliver. The main thing I asked for was that the bun be pulled to the side and the bangs drape to one side of my face. Nothing difficult in my opinion. I knew for a fact that my bangs were long enough to do the draping style that I wanted because I had an outgrown bob, which was longer in the front, shorter in the back and prior to my visit, i had my friend play around with my hair to see if that style was do-​able. she who is not a professional stylist was able to give me that look. All she had to do was split my hair closer to one side (NOT in the middle) to give the drape side more length. That was exactly how the model had her hair parted in the picture that I brought in as well. I have no idea what the stylist was thinking, She split my hair in the middle and gave me a bun that wasn’t even to the side. So I asked her to redo it so she can reposition the bun more towards my right side. She did that but she still couldn’t manage to give me the drape look with my bangs because she kept my hair parted in the middle. Did this girl even know what she was doing? She asked if I was happy with it multiple times and from the look on my face, she knew I was disappointed. I kept telling her the main thing I wanted was to have my bangs draped and my bun pulled to the side, I didn’t care how she did my bun, as long as it was pulled to the side. She then went on to tell me I didn’t have enough hair to drape it the way I wanted… and then she got frustrated and told me «you need a new picture» and went to the back to grab the ipad. Umm, no. I don’t need a new picture. You need to open your ears and LISTEN. If you feel like the style I chosed wasn’t going to work, why didn’t you mention that from the get go instead of wasting 2 hours ??! To make things worse, she disappeared on me for 10 mins «trying to put the music back on» like, really? I know you were talking shit about me to the other stylist because when I came up to pay, the front desk girl gave me the ugliest look, took my card and didn’t say a word. She’s lucky I wasn’t in a b**** mood and still tipped her even with her unprofessional attitude and lack of listening skills.

Thank God for cut and color most especially to Carlos (and Valerie for introducing this place to me)! I’ve used your regular hair dye (box) that you typically find at walgreens and recently I applied jet black on my hair. Now I wanted to go blonde/​balayage style and probably other salons wont be able to pull off what I desired after what I’ve applied in my hair, but Carlos worked his magic and I couldn’t be happier! He makes sure you leave not just a happy customer but an ecstatic one! The prices are very reasonable as well. Great ambience (loved the music playing in the background), the place is so clean and the other staff (esp Ana and Maria) were very professional and enjoyed each other’s company and what they are doing– very well managed.
Highly recommend this place to everyone!

Found this gem of a place in Woodfield Mall, and what made it even better is Ana! She listened to what I liked/​wanted, and executed it perfectly. I have very long hair and I hate it when stylists just want to keep cutting the length. I didn’t have to worry about that with Ana. She gave me the perfect edgy trim that I envisioned.
And she can mix a mean color too!
The prices for the services are actually reasonable too. Win win situation.

I’ve been getting my hair done by Tracy for 8 years now and have followed her everywhere shes gone. And with every appointment, I have left the salon feeling gorgeous & pampered each time. Tracy is not only a very skilled and talented stylist, she has a heart of gold. She’s so sweet and will listen to me vent and talk like a licensed therapist lol I highly recommend a visit to Cut & Color to get your hair transformed by the one & only Tracy!

I’m from San Francisco where there are many stylists to choose from. Visiting Illinois to look for a stylist scared me. Luckily I found J. Carlos. He knew exactly how to fix my hair from a mess it was when I got it done in a little town in NC. My hair feels healthier and looks much better. J. Carlos is very knowledgeable and I enjoyed speaking to him about the chemistry of hair. This salon makes sure to preserve the hair’s healthiness while still giving you the style you desire. Thanks!
