Most of the clothes at Heritage 1981 look cool. That’s about all they are good for. Don’t be fooled by their cheap prices. The quality is awful. Customer service at this store is about par for a mall, but the layout(especially in men’s) is ridiculous. I get it; they’re trying to be artsy and different by having coats spread around. However, I haven’t been on a scavenger hunt in many years and I’d rather not have a whole store become one as well. I finally found a lightweight jacket for $ 35. Same stuff as H&M, J Crew, Gap, even Urban Outfitters, etc, but for much less $$. TWO buttons came loose and fell off after wearing the jacket once — to work at my office and back home. That’s just stupid.

wow buying online and in their stores are a pain; no refund, only store credit… how in the world do you have online shopping and no refund! Beware, you have to know before you buy if you really want it or there are no defects. But that’s no problem as it is still affordable. But it lost a star for that.

What happens when you throw together Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters? In theory, it’s like mixing hippies and hipsters — a terrible mental image. In practice… you get Heritage 1981. Now, honestly, I avoid Forever 21 like the plague, so upon finding out this was owned by the same company, I wanted to run for the hills. When I did my 180 though, my hand brushed against a couple of the shirts and I realized how soft the material was… I had to try a really cute and REALLY soft blue tee with a pic of a whale that said«give water, give life» with an equally endearing denim vest. On closer examination, I found out a fraction of profits from the shirt went to ! How cool is that? What you get from Heritage 1981 is some decent duds for a fraction of the price. The clothes are all made of natural fibers and comfy, perfect for the weekend wardrobe. Heritage doesn’t focus at all on workplace attire or clubbing clothes, so if you’re shopping around for those, head elsewhere. But if you’re at Woodfield looking for a cute tee, vest or sweater and aren’t looking to drop a ton at J Crew or Abercrombie, this place is worth investigating. Plus, certain purchases support different green causes, which is one of the trendiest things of all nowadays!
