Why is this marathon allowed to charge over 50 cents a gallon more than anyone else in the area? The place is unkept to say the least and it looks like a horror movie set from the 80’s… Avoid at all cost pls!

AVOID this Marathon Station at all cost! This owner is terrible, the price is always 40 cents higher a gallon than anyone else in the area. The pumps are broken, it will take two hands to turn it off forcing you to over fill. The air machine is broken, the vacuum is broken. The interior hasn’t been changed since 1989. I once had a friend that worked here in 1989 and literally it has not changed. It is dirty and the convenience food is old and nasty. This owner has no respect for the Marathon name… HORRIBLEEXPERIENCE.

Us ladies, we gotta look out for each other. So while I’d normally be gassed about pumps that run at light speed(seriously, they’re super sonic here, like 0 to 8 gallons in less than 60 seconds), I can’t say that I’d stop here again unless it was an absolute dire emergency(like it was on my initial visit). This Marathon is dimly lit with not-appropriate-for-a-service-station mood lighting. It’s great if you’ve got a migraine, but not when it’s winter in Illinois and dark out at 4:30pm and you’re just a lonely gal looking to gas up and stay safe. I, personally, would prefer not to be abducted or to willingly put myself in a position where that might be a possibility. I’m not a fan of this gas station’s dusk-lighting mixed with a service station whose windows are almost entirely blocked out by advertisements, leaving me virtually invisible to anyone who might be able to see and save me from hypothesized Candice-natcher. Better safe than sorry, and I’d rather not risk it. Unless it’s broad daylight, I’ll probably keep on driving up the road to better lit gas station with more visibility to the service station and road.
