This location is now CLOSED. I posted what I felt was a review filled with good feedback for ownership in an effort to help out but it appears it fell upon def ears as the last time I drove by all of the signs at this location where taken down.

Essentially Zippy’s opened as a rival to Portillo’s. While they are ok, they are not nearly as good as Portillos. The fries here are not as good and neither are the hamburgers. The best things on the menu are the hot dogs and pizza slices. They are both horribly bad for your health but very, very delicious.

Fast, hot delivery. Pizza was tasty and plenty of toppings. One of the few places you can get gyro meat on a Pizza!

I’m usually a salad girl when it comes to places like Zippy’s. Not trying to be healthy(because we all know most salads aren’t really that healthy) but because sometimes I can find a good salad at a beef/gyro/burger joint. And Zippy’s advertises their salads in the window with a neon sign. They need to take that down –now-. The grilled chicken salad I had was not good. The greens weren’t fresh and the dressing they gave was a strange pink color and completely unidentifiable in taste. But I do like other things about Zippy’s, such as the drink selection– Green Mountain– what, what! And who can resist waffle fries? Not I… on occasion, which is as often as I would choose to go here.

Pretty good beef by Chicago standards. They deviate a little from the typical french bread and offer more of a torpedo, sub-style bread. But the meat is good and the bread holds the juices so it’s a good match. I’m a fan of the waffle fries(holds more ketchup) although my gf wasn’t impressed. Service is quick and prices are comparable to other chain hot dog /beef restaurants in the area. I’m not a cheese-on-my-beef kind of guy so I can’t offer any review of their cheezy beefs.

Mediocre food in what could be the biggest abomination of an interior of any business serving the public. Fake graffiti? Walls painted in nauseating shades of brownish yellow, which look more like smeared vomited mustard than an actual paint finish? Booths upholstered in a fabric only a pre-teen in 1983 could love? It’s honestly hard to have any sort of appetite after being in here for any significant amount of time. The«chicken gyros» sandwich had a nice warm wrap, good, crispy lettuce and flavourful tomatoes. The chicken was slightly over salted but could have been salvaged had the sauce given with the sandwich had not been a thick honey mustard. It had a fake, chemical taste that is probably from the same place that makes salad dressing packets for McDonald’s. Andy had some waffle fries that were decent, but came with this terrifying orange goo sauce. It looked, and tasted, like someone melted a traffic cone in the microwave. Not surprisingly, it was listed on the menu as «cheez». Ah, well, lesson learned. Tip: when traveling to this area, eat beforehand or grab something at the grocery store across the street. Zippy’s? er, no.

I should have known better. When traveling to the unknown abyss of the Western Suburbs, eat something in Chicago(civilization) before you start your trip. I will give Zippy’s credit for being one step above your local White Castle. The interior is tacky. There was graffiti painted on the cheesy Wallpaper. It looked like Punky Brewster’s Bedroom. The food wasn’t much better. The Italian Beef is an abomination of the traditional Chicago version. It was served on a Philly Cheese Steak Roll as opposed to the traditional Italian Bread. And man, did the ever skimp on the beef. I needed a search party to find the meat on the sandwich. The one saving grace(or so I thought) is that they had Green River on Tap. Green River was my favorite drink when I was a kid. But the to my disappointment, the Green River was flat. It tasted like a Soda that was left open for a couple of days in the Fridge. Needless to say, we won’t be going back to Zippy’s anytime soon. The food was mediocre at best, and the hideous décor is enough to make your eyes bleed. The next time you are driving down Barrington road with a hankering for some comfort food, take my advice and keep on driving. I’m sure there is something better down the road.

I love their Cheese Pizza & for a $ 1.49 you can’t beat it. Their waffle fries are awesome. Ok, so these are the only item’s I eat while I’m here, but they are sooooo good. The service is always zippy fast & polite.

Gyros are ok, nothing special. Fries are cross-cut and thick, which I like. Don’t get the chili dog with everything — you’ll get a mess of relish, tomatoes, pickles, mustard, and everything else that goes on a Chicago dog, with chili. Nastiest combination ever. But they deliver. Good for lazies like me. _____________________________________________________ Updated: Received an email from the Owner, Spiro D(who Unilocaled on the Hoffman Estates location), offering me a gift certificate. Perhaps to sway my opinion of his establishment? While I was always less than impressed with Zippy’s, but now I’m totally turned off. (However — I must give credit where it’s due. a) he did try and make me try them again, and b) he didn’t just pay Unilocal to have them post the positive reviews, like some other companies do. It still leaves a bad taste in my mouth — and it’s not the food this time — regardless.)

A Fantastic Fast food restaurant. Went there for my first time a couple weeks ago and havent been dissapointed one bit, its now me and my co –workers weekly places and we all just love it. A great Variety of food from burgers to dogs to gyros to pizza. My favorite is the Chicago style hot dog. Also a very clean restaurant bathrooms especially. Prices are good, most of the time they have a cheep item on the menu as a special like $ 1.25 cheese slices. I would recommend it to any fast food lover for a great meal

The waffle fries are the best thing here. The Cheesy Beef is also good. I will be back to try their gyros to see how that stacks up. I like this place for Italian beef because it is not as messy as Portillo’s but Portillo’s is just so damn good. I think the prices are a little high compared to Portillo’s so Portillo’s will always be on top over this place. Not that it’s bad but I just like Portillo’s better.

Ok food at a little more than ok prices. Zippy’s, apparently, is a staple of the Schaumburg/Hoffman Estates area. As far as I can tell, it’s just an alternate venue to Portillos for the general Italian-American food options out there. Sure their waffle fries are decent, as is the cheese that goes on the side. Their burgers taste like burgers, their Italian beef like Italian beef. Nothing seems amiss at Zippy’s but nothing stands out either. For pretty much the same amount of cash head over to Portillos, you’ll thank me later.

Gotta love Zippy’s. I can’t believe no one mentioned the waffle fries. So good! And the chicken gyros can’t be beat. Zippy’s has been around for a long time, there is a reason for that. Decent prices, a lot of food, and a clean atmosphere. Never had a bad experience.

For a char-broiled burger place, the prices aren’t bad, if you consider the big portions of food you receive. Its a nice place to stop and have some food with friends or family. No combo’s, so you are left to ordering fries and a drink, which becomes costly. But, they have a self-serve drink area, so you can save some money by ordering a small drink and getting your own refills. They really pack on the toppings on burgers, etc, if you have small hands you may need utensils, which is readily available. The service was quick, the place is very clean. Restrooms seem to be cleaned very often. Plenty of parking, Pizza also sold by the slice and drive-thru service!

Mediocre food at Mediocre prices. The delivery time was just average, too. Head here if you’re looking for a slice of pizza or maybe their famous«cheezy beef». Don’t expect very much, though
