I love this place for its elevated sense of design and product. If you want cheap crap go to Wal-Mart, if you want gorgeous items that make you gasp go to Experience. Having lived in much larger cities this is the only store I know of anywhere in the area to carry the kind of merchandise that no one else has. They also did the linens for our wedding and they were gorgeous.

I went here a couple of weeks ago at my aunt’s suggestion. I am looking for overlays to rent for my wedding and she thought we should check at Experience. Here’s how it’s gone so far: I called on a Monday looking to make an appointment to discuss linens with someone on Friday afternoon. After a few minutes holding on the phone, someone came back and told me that they had to make sure that someone would be around to meet with me as most of the staff leaves early in the summer. We agreed on 2pm. When I arrived with my aunt and mom on Friday at 2pm, they had to grab the linen lady who ONHERWAYOUT. Really? She was nice enough and didn’t show any signs of being miffed that we’d shown up as she was leaving. Walked us through the overlay options and told me she’d call me with the pricing for two options I liked on Monday since she didn’t have those. Ok. On Tuesday I received a voice mail message from her with the two prices and nothing else. No «if you want to place an order, call this person at this number» or anything. Honestly, I’m not impressed with the customer service so far, but I’m gonna go with them because I liked the options and my aunt is generously covering the cost of the rental and she likes Experience. I’ll update this skeptical review after the wedding. Overall, the store itself is pretty cool. There’s really neat stuff unlike anything I’ve seen in the Capitol District. A real gem in downtown Schenectady. I know they do arrangements and centerpieces for events– I’d love to see some. Apparently the store is amazing at the holidays.
