Bring earplugs. AC noise, paperthin walls, slamming doors. Left early, before 6 am free breakfast… Only highlight was updated and clean bathroom.

This is pretty much a 2 star hotel so ill rate it as so. Front desk is pretty nice. Hallway near the lobby is pretty goofy. In the room you get a fridge, iron/board, newer flatscreen tv and a coffee maker. Not world-class amenities but better than nothing. The room seemed clean and smelled nice at first but upon further inspection I found some stuff that needed to be cleaned better. The headboard and picture above it were super dusty and probably havent been wiped down in weeks. There was a stain on one of the pillow cases. Ceiling had water stains. Wallpaper was coming apart at the seams and bubbling. Toilet is super low to the ground and the bathroom door didnt fit correctly which didnt allow me to lock it. Bathroom was clean. The caulk around the sink was breaking apart and should be replaced. Bed was clean but was not super comfortable. Heater started making an awful screeching noise at night so i turned it off. The fridge also made weird distracting noises.

Cleaner than the place down the street. Save your judgement until you get to the room since the hallways smell funky and the carpets a mess. Inside the room is spotless. No amenities to speak of inside the room. This is my second stay here. If you want a room in the area for under a hundred come here, otherwise go into schenectady proper.

I don’t think anyone is going to mistake this place for a world-famous four-star hotel, but I was glad we stayed here. It served as a fine home base for our trip to the Albany/Schenectady/Saratoga area. When we first got in, I thought we had trouble; my reservation clearly said check-in time was 1PM, and I chose this place for that reason, but when I went to check in around 1:15, they told me check-in time was at 3. I responded by saying I had come from far away, that I had two kids in the car, and that those kids needed to take their naps. And to this place’s credit, they responded. They found a ready room and put us in it. So points there. Also, something happened to the toilet while we were there — the handle came off and stopped it from working — and when I gave a call down to the front desk and said, «Look, we’re about to go out for dinner, fix this while we’re out,» they once again fulfilled my request. So they get points for that as well. There were areas of the hotel that were clearly under construction while we were there(the primary example being the lobby, which was half-untiled, with a tile cutter set up behind the building). I don’t take points off for that. It’s inconvenient, but I can’t fault a business for improving itself. Many of the hallway carpets seemed in dire need of replacing, but I got the feeling that those were next on the list. And while our room was a-ok and seemed recently rehabbed(and for the money was actually really nice), we peeked into some other rooms and saw they looked sort of old and drab. So the sense I was getting was that this hotel was recently purchased by new owners, who were trying to do some upgrades on the disrepair left behind by the old owners. I was personally okay with that, especially since our room was one of the nice ones, so for me this place was fine to stay in. If you’re going there soon and aren’t looking to deal with that kind of thing, perhaps you’ll want to look elsewhere. Giving stars on Unilocal is always tough. Like I said at the top, I don’t think this is a four-star hotel. But I feel like anything under four stars indicates a general dislike for a place, and I didn’t dislike this hotel. So I am giving it four stars to help its rating, but I hope people will base their decision to stay there more off my review than the number of stars I gave. This is not a palace, and no one who enters it would confuse it for one, but for a weekend getway for a family of four, it did the trick just fine for us, and I would recommend it.
