Tire Barn

Had 4 tires mounted and ballanced. I had to go back 4 x because of a shimmy at 65mph. The 4^th time I went back they put the car on the lift and never checked it. Then they claim it was a bent rim. Took it to Discount Tires right after. They rebalanced them and said there’s no bent rim the tires were 1 to 3 oz to heavy and now it’s smooth as silk. There’s 0 reasons to go to tire barn they have no clue how to balance a tire.

After buying my tires here for years my recent experience has changed that.
Went to buy 2 new tires there last Saturday and almost spent 5 hours there. They had to order a new Stud because they had to break off the old stud. The manager said the bolt was not previously put on right that was why they had to break it off. Just so happens they originally put the old tire on and did not put the bolt on right. They still charged me anyway.
Finally when they brought my car out they had apparently drained my battery which was only one year old. When the technician came out to give me a jump he said the battery was weak. I just came in to buy 2 new tires, why would they check the battery.
Then some stupid customer came out and was checking out the battery while the technician was charging it. He was trying to tell me that I had to put water in the Battery that was why it was dead. Well sir, just so happens it is a MAINTENANCE FREE Battery. So just goes to show people should mind there own business.
I can see this place is under new management. And not very good.

If I could give no stars, I would. Took my car in Saturday, waited all day only to be told to drive home on a faulty wheel and come back Monday. Came in Monday morning, was promised to be taken care of only to be told that they will not get to it till next day. How do they expect me to get to work?
Aside from that, staff was rude and in attentive. Will never return here!

Instead of rehashing my nightmare experience, here is a copy of a letter I submitted to Mr. Tire’s corporate office (Monro Muffler Brake) in June. I received a partial refund in response to my letter to corporate. I would avoid this place at all costs.
«I am writing this letter to request a refund in the amount of $ — – for replacement of a left wheel bearing that I paid to Mr. Tire Store #949 in Schererville. This part, originally serviced on — — -, has not been fixed properly after dropping off my vehicle six different times for service over the course of the past 15 months. I was also most recently misinformed about the service that was needed, and due to this I continued to drive on a bad wheel bearing which could have resulted in a dangerous outcome.
«The last time I brought in my car for service on — — –, I was told that the left wheel bearing did not need service and that in fact it was more than likely my right wheel bearing. I learned after bringing my car to another auto repair shop after this that the left wheel bearing was in fact in need of being replaced. After being left to drive on a faulty wheel bearing and feeling it was in the best interest of my safety to have this part fixed immediately, I paid for this different auto shop to repair the left wheel bearing which Mr. Tire had failed to do repeatedly.
«Below is a timeline of events that took place. Enclosed you will find the appropriate documentation:
* February —- — Car is taken to Mr. Tire to replace left wheel bearing and left overnight. When car is picked up, I discover that the ABS light is broken from the service performed and need to return it at another time to have it fixed.
* March —— — Return vehicle on two separate occasions to have broken ABS light fixed. After first attempt, the light was still broken after leaving the car overnight. Had to return the following weekend and once again leave vehicle overnight.
* June — — — - — Wheel bearing becomes faulty and needs to be replaced. I am told that it was a faulty part and it will be fixed at no cost, but it needs to be left overnight.
* October — — — — — Once again, wheel bearing needs to be replaced. I drop off the vehicle overnight to be serviced.
* May — — — — Car begins to make the same noise as the previous three times that the wheel bearing needed to be serviced. I drop off my car for service of the wheel bearing and an oil change, and upon picking up my car the next day I am told by J.D. at Mr. Tire that it is not my left wheel bearing, but rather my right wheel bearing. They suggested waiting to repair the right wheel bearing because they could not be «100% sure» what the issue was.
* June —– — After continuing to drive my vehicle, I felt that something was definitely in fact wrong and brought it in to another auto service shop to be looked at. They informed me that my left wheel bearing was definitely the part in need of repair contrary to what I was told by —- at Mr. Tire. I had it fixed at this shop since I did not feel it was safe to continue driving on it, and after an unreasonable number of failed attempts by Mr. Tire I was not going to risk bringing it back there.
* June —— — Since replacing the left wheel bearing with the other auto shop, I have not had any issues and the noise I originally reported to Mr. Tire has gone away completely.
«As you can see, I have brought in my vehicle to Mr. Tire an incredible number of times over the past year and have not had it serviced properly. To make things worse, I was told that the part which they continuously failed to repair was fine, which clearly was not the case and in hindsight was extremely dangerous to drive on due to their oversight. Because of the inconvenience of leaving my car overnight on 6 different occasions, and the risk I was put under, I feel my request for a full refund is more than reasonable.»
