I love this YMCA! I usually go at 5AM and the staff is OUTSTANDING! I love the instructors in the early morning. The group exercise classes in the early morning hours are very friendly and inviting.

This place does not have a good variety of classes. They change class schedules all the time without notice. They take classes off the schedule and replace with something that is not well attended. Membership is not cheap either. Went to Golds lot more variety classes are fun.

Nice place to workout. Definitely family friendly. Would have given it 5 stars but they seem to have several machines down at any given moment. With that said, I Would recommend.

This YMCA is extremely clean and family friendly. There are enormous rooms for child care and a coffee shop sitting area in the lobby for people to chat at after their workouts. The service was fast and reliable. If I weren’t already a member, I would join today.

I never, ever, EVER thought I would be writing a positive review for a YMCA. In past lives, any Y I ever went to was dingy, smelly and staffed by super-creepy dudes who usually lived on-site. So, when looking for a gym in Schertz, the YMCA was the last place I checked out. You see, I need a gym that is no more than 2 miles from my house. I despise working out and can make up an excuse not to go out of anything. After trying another place in Schertz, I realized I hated going there do much due to a lot of judgmental, rude teens that it was time to try my only other option: the Y. Walking in, it was bright and cheery, with no funky smells immediately noticeable. The staff was very friendly, offering tours and explanations of all classes. Plus, they offer tons of corporate/military discounts, so check those out! I signed up on the spot, and haven’t regretted it once. This Y is definitely geared towards families. I usually take the weekends off, just because there are lots of kiddos running around, which really isn’t my scene(especially at the gym.) It gets packed on weekday mornings before 9 am and the evenings after 5. If you can, weekdays between 10am-2 pm is the best, no waits for equipment and everyone there is fairly serious about working out, and they mind their own business. The machines are usually all in working order, and everything here is wicked clean. They offer a child watch service, which seems to be very popular. I have no children, though I’ve been tempted to walk in with the dogs just to see what they’d say. The peeps who work there are so nice, they’d probably actually be cool with it!
