When I say to my family, lets go to the park, this is where I mean. It’s fairly close to my house with a beautiful spot on the river.
Over the years they’ve made some pretty good improvements. The parking for the kayak launch has been improved with a much shorter carry to the water and more parking spots. They’ve got a beautiful new pavilion with its own parking lot and now they’re working on putting in a campground. Down the trail from the main parking lot they are working on clearing a trail to the chimney from one of the old icehouses on the island.
My only issue is the lack of trails along the water but hopefully that will be one of the next improvements.

West Sand Lake, NY
Lovely, local, state park. Has roofed area for group picnic. Mowed field for activites. Boat landing. A couple miles of forest walking trail. 6 dollars to park on the weekend. Free other times. Worth a ride out. Beautiful area, close to the river.
