I would give the Covered Bridge Café another half point if I could. The food was all house made, beautifully presented, and very flavorful. Our server, Gail was helpful and charming. I look forward to going back and sampling more. .. Maybe breakfast next time.

Love this place! Such high quality food for a small town establishment. The staff is friendly too. I return a couple times a month and it is consistently good.

I’m not sure what chuck was talking about. Enamored with the quaint and welcoming small town feel I expected to be greeted kindly with local flavor and charm when I entered the covered bridge coffee house, but I would be sorely let down. The enchantment I experienced as we pulled in to scio was squashed under the non slip sole of our rude server who treated us like second class inconveniences to her apparently higher priorities. When I attempted to order my coffee she was curt and quick to point out that she was in the middle of her dinner rush, two tables in an other wise empty restaurant, and that things would take some time. As one that works in the industry I can relate to the stress and weight of a busy day, but her attitude was unbridled and uncalled for. There was no overwhelming rush that beckoned her need and even if there had been its unprofessional to take that stress out on the customer. When I finally got my coffee I’m certain that cowboys have washed their socks in better tasting liquids. I hope to never stop here again, but seeing that this is a one horse town if I ever pass through I may find myself enduring abuse from my barista in order to get a subpar coffee.

When I think of good restaurants I don’t think I’d find one in a small town like Scio. Scio is small, it’s like Lebanon’s forgotten wood shed. It’s about a block long and offers… well, not much. Walking into The Covered Bridge Coffee house can be a bit confusing. The layout gives three different rooms, only one of which seems to see much use. The main dining room is rustic with a plethora of different tables and chairs, some of which can be tough to access if the table next to it is occupied. We were greeted by a young server who promptly brought water in «Ball» mason jars(Are you paying attention Mama’s in Lebanon and Morning Glory in Eugene?). She took our drink order without much flair but not a hint of apathy. This is a small town and service certainly reflected that. When I cracked the menu I was treated to a mid-size offering of traditional American grub. Soup that day was Veggie Bisque or Clam Chowder. I noticed the prices seemed high, up to $ 10 for a burger. Considering I was just served water in a mason jar the restaurant seemed to have a bit of identity crisis. I ordered a classic cheese burger which seemed like the right thing to do. It was. I was treated to a no frills burger(Lettuce, Tomato, Pickles, and just a smidgen of Mayonaise) which arrived hot and juicy with plenty of flavor on the meat. The veggies were extremely fresh, not some pre-cut refrigerated garbage from a food vendor. The burger wasn’t too big or too small and fit the sandwich nicely. The whole thing was absolutely fantastic. One of the best burgers I’ve had in a long, long while. There’s a lot of restaurants that could be taught how to make a burger by whoever the chef is here. The fries, though, took the cake. Big, square cut fries I assume made in house. They were fantastic as well. A second visit a couple of days later proved that the first wasn’t a fluke. There’s good stuff happening here. I wish the atmosphere was a little better(though it’s not bad), or that the service wasn’t so… subdued(I think that’s the right word here). Otherwise this is a teriffic little restaurant for a casual and comfy lunch. Highly recommended and worth a drive out of your way.
