Oceanside Inn

This was our first time at Oceanside Inn, which is right on the ocean. For those not used to this type of home it is elevated to prevent it from flooding in very bad weather and it is not landscaped because the salt water will kill any landscaping. This house is on a street of similar houses so if you are not used to this, don’t be turned off by your first impression.
Once you get inside it is immaculate and very well maintained. Keep in mind that this type of home is also difficult to keep perfect due to being right on the water so there may be a water stain here or there, the windows may not be perfectly clean, etc. Nevertheless, the location on the ocean is a huge plus and outweighs any minor blemishes that one might find as a result. We had a lovely room with a couch, a porch, and a king size bed. The view was of the ocean and was quite lovely. The room was clean and very well maintained. We like to read and the room had plenty of lamps providing ample lighting. We would have liked a working clock in the room; not a big deal. Everything else was in perfect working order.
Our host was Heather who was delightful; she is the niece of the owner who is a veteran but does not usually live in the house. We really enjoyed talking with Heather and she was a great cook. She made us a full breakfast both days we were there, including a fruit cup, muffins, and other pastries. I am lactose intolerant and she happily accommodated this; there was almond milk and the pancakes she made were also lactose free and gluten free not to mention delicious. The dining area overlooks the ocean and in the summer time there is a large patio where you can eat outside.
The room rate was extremely reasonable; it was off season. One strange thing is that they did add a service charge rather than include it in the room rate. Even with the service charge the room was a bargain. We are not sure what the cost is in the summer.
I would highly recommend the Oceanside Inn to anyone looking for a great place on the ocean and not for a magnificently landscaped property. – the ocean is the landscape!!! You won’t be disappointed. We are very glad we chose Oceanside Inn and will definitely return.
