I smell a troll! But only four stars because NO one would buy a five! Luke P. You forgot to mention the rancid bacon… but yep, tired ass cranky waitresses. It’s true the place should be a goldmine, but I guess in a town needing more breakfast places they manage…

Nothing to special about this small breakfast place. It has breakfast. Which is scarce in Scituate. When I went, my food was good. Not outstanding, but it was good and I would go again. Coffee was pretty good. Service was good as well. All in all, it’s a nice once in awhile breakfast place for a morning outing with friends.

Just finished a delicious breakfast at this scenic restaurant. I had the ham steak with 2 over easy eggs. The breakfast ham was juicy and tasty and my eggs were perfectly prepared. The prices are more than reasonable, the service is friendly and prompt, and it is all further complimented by a terrific view of Scituate Harbor. Great experience.

Someone needs a lesson in customer service. This place should be a gold mine. We walked in with a coffee cup, you would have thought it was an open beer. We’ll never go back. Too bad because there’s not a lot of breakfast choices in Scituate.

Incredibly rude wait staff, checked hours online, looked at giant sign outside that reads«breakfast all day» walked in a little after 1:00 and was told they had just closed. As dozens of other diners enjoyed food. The food is nothing special. The location is great and it has potential to be a great spot in Scituate harbor but a little more professionalism and politeness from the wait staff, as well as higher quality food(even if that means more expensive…) would go along way!

I finally quit giving Sam’s more second chances. The hostess the last time I went was awful. She had us stand over at the bar area until a table opened up. There was a completely vacant table right behind her set up for six. 15 minutes later she toddles over and tells us to follow her. We take about eight steps and get seated at the empty table we’ve been staring at. She tells me that«I know you’re mad, but it’s the way we do it.» Never, never, never going back

Not bad. I usually go simple for breakfast. Eggs, sausage, home fries, toast. Food was average. If they got a better quality sausage that would help. They were like the frozen sausage anybody can buy at Stop n Shop. Step it up kids. If you’re a breakfast place splurge for some good sausage. Not rocket science. Staff was ok. Not like in these other reviews. Will I go back? I doubt it. But it aint as bad as these other reviews. Maybe I got lucky.

If you find yourself in Scituate Harbor and cannot go another moment without eating breakfast, go to Sam’s. If you think you can survive, drive in the other direction immediately and find somewhere else to go. Waitstaff — Rude. Didn’t mean to trouble you for coffee at breakfast! Food — Meh. Location — Great! If only they could get waitstaff and food to match the view.

I’ve been here several times and it’s always terrible. The food is gross, waitresses are grumpy and everything from the carpet to the tables to the condiments to the silverware is dirty. I once saw the chef through the window pinching spit or something out off of his lips, it was disgusting. I kept watching to see if he’d step away but go wash his hands, my guess is that he didn’t. Another time I had lipstick on my coffee cup. Another time the waitress brought my coffee with the creamer plate sitting on top of the coffee mug. I wish this place was better because it’s in a great spot. Who knows, maybe Oro will take it over to continue its domination of the harbor!

One morning I wandered in. I ordered crab cakes Benedict. It was made with imitation crab meat. Pollock, the kind used for seafood salad. Grosser than gross. And insulting, we live on the coast-the Atlantic ocean, there’s no excuse. And the price read real crab. A w f u l. Anyone I’ve asked about this place says the same. «I’ve been there once.» Exactly.

Great location, seagulls in the parking lot. Food just OK. I appreciate good pancakes and asked if they were«really good» before ordering and was told they were, they were NOT. Need to cut with a knife. Waitress was very friendly and had some good shopping advice for the harbor.

Decent coffee and the eggs bene florentine was tasty. They use red bliss potatoes chopped small size for the homefries, tasty. Everything was served piping hot. I thought the prices were just a skosh high, I guess it’s the price for the waterfront?

Three strikes for this place. Location is great so it is a shame the food is so awful. Last time I was there the food was inedible, the waitress(who seemed nice enough) offered to not charge me because I hadn’t touched it other than one bite and then she came back and said that the manager told her that I had to pay. Are you kidding me? Banned for life as far as I am concerned.

Against my better judgement and against what the reviews on here would suggest we took our family to breakfast at Sam’s last week. We we so pleasantly surprised! Maybe the bad reviews lowered our expectations. We have literally never heard anyone say anything good about this place until recently someone said«it’s eggs and coffee, what can you mess up?» so we decided to give it a try. We were there early on a Sunday morning, probably by 8am. The place was almost empty and we got our pick of tables. The server was crazy nice and helpful. We had all 4 kids with us and the server was very accomodating to them and me. In fact, one of my biggest peaves is when a server places a hot dish of food in front of a small child and this server was the first one I have ever encountered who had intellgence enough not to do this. The food was fine. I can’t say it was exceptional, but it was eggs and pancakes and it was pretty good. It was honestly just as good as any other place I’ve been(except Arthur and Pats) and the service was great. Maybe they’ve learned a few lessons from the bad Unilocal reviews? Add to all of this the phenomenal location in Scituate Harbor which provides easy parking and a gorgeous view and we are hooked.

I am still a customer of Sams. It is now what I consider Boring. As a breakfast place it could definitely step up and be much more creative. They should go to Weymouth and steal a menu from Niko’s. Sam’s food is still acceptable, the restaurant is clean, the waitstaff is OK. The menu is BORING.

I’m a fan of breakfast. Scrambled eggs, french toast, coffee, pancakes, bacon, waffles, omeletes, hash browns — you name it, I’m there. Give me a Denny’s or IHOP with salty waitresses and a heat lamp-warmed buffet where the tubs of syrup and grits each have a sketchy film on top and I am a happy man. I’m even happier at gourmet joints where the waitresses are tattooed & pierced, the french toast is made with day-old challah bread, the eggs are farm-fresh, cage free and perfectly poached, and the bacon is heirloom pork lovingly cured in-house. Sam’s is the former, not the latter. To all the other reviewers, I repeat, Sam’s is a basic breakfast joint, not a gourmet place. This is Scituate, after all. 5 South Main is just a few minutes away in Cohassett if you want a delicious but fancy-pants breakfast. I’ve eaten at Sam’s for breakfast 3 – 4 times a month for about a year, always on the weekends, and only once have had slow service(the kitchen was short handed.) The coffee is good and bottomless, the raisin toast(that you CAN order w/o butter… but why would you???) is fantastic, and the eggs/hash browns/bacon combo superb. I’ve had better pancakes, of course, but not at Denny’s or IHOP, so I’m not complaining. The waitresses are awesome — some hyper-friendly, some a bit cranky — but that’s part of the experience. Breakfast joint waitresses working the weekend are the hardest working women in show business. Think about it – they’re up really early, usually leaving family behind, working when most people are playing, and then they have to put up with breakfast snobs who probably leave a 15% tip on a $ 8 breakfast. We should all feel lucky not to have a pot of hot coffee dumped in our lap as soon as we sit down. Use my breakfast tip rule — 50%, rounded up. Why only a four star review? No wifi… or heirloom pork. ;-)

Slow, slow and even slower service. Sat at the table for over 20 minutes before the waitress came over and another 30 minutes before the order arrived. It was a Thursday and not even crowded. I wonder how slow it is on the weekend. Over easy eggs were almost hard it the middle… eggs, how can they screw them up is beyond me. Did not leave a tip and will not return.

What they did right: –Location, Location, Location –creativity-Buffalo chicken omelet,(good in theory) –prices What they did wrong: –seating, Whats up with this partition? You can’t see the specials board –Execution-Buffalo Chicken Omelet-not very tasty, and not served in a wrap, that would have been better –Toast– why oh why do you feel the need to melt butter on every piece? Not everyone likes butter, and some people want the jam sitting at the table –portions– not enough hash browns! –waitress– WAY too cheery.

I went here for breakfast a few days ago, was meeting two friends & was seated before they arrived. They arrived 10 minutes after I did, during that 10 minute wait the hostess checked in with me twice to check to see if my friends«were ever gonna be there» cause they«couldn’t spare the table to wait forever» — there were at least 5 other open tables at this point. The waitress was rude, never re-filled coffee, one of the party had no silverware for half the meal. The hostess continued to complain to the host relieving her about my «taking up a table» while there was never a wait for a table during my stay. The food was okay at best, but the overall experience was awful.
