Saw a sign in the window” William Costigan owner of Costigan guitars appearing 12÷13÷15 at 1:00 pm”. Showed up at noon. Gerry said no such an event. He had removed the sign. He did try to sell me a $ 2,000 Costigan acoustic guitar. After explaining I saw the same guitar on ebay for $ 350, he said maybe because the list is about $ 500. It was explained by Gerry, that the Costigan acoustic he had in his store was a special model made in Bora Bora, one of a kind. This place is not only filthy with a terrible odor, but haunted. Another in the long line of adventures and episodes starring Gerry and the entire cast of Scituate Music.

Great experience, jerry was super helpful and fixed my guitar. It took a little longer than expected but my guitar sounds much better than it did before. Great shop lots of interesting guitars, amps etc. Glad I went to him instead of trying to fix it myself.

Okay, Gerry is eccentric but I dig him and his store. He has an amazing selection of instruments and equipment and is very knowledgeable. I have honestly never noticed any odor coming from Gerry or his store although I admittedly have a deviated septum. He’s a character. You want the corporate dance then go to Guitar Center. This dude is genuine.

First of all I must say that I like Gerry, I have known him for years, he does not smell bad as some idiot posted previously, but I also never buy much from the store. Everything in the store is ridiculously over priced. I see the same brand new never sold guitars year after year in the store so I have no idea how Gerry stays open. Gerry needs to lower his prices to current market prices, list everything for sale on a website and e-bay, and yea… not be a rude arrogant know it all.

I disagree with the previous two reviews. Sure Gerry may be a little brash and have a dry sense of humor — but his knowledge and the sheer quality of the instruments he carries are exceptional. This store is clearly not a place for children as there are many fragile items within reach. Should a child accompany an adult into the store — there are MANY visible signs that say DONOTTOUCH&ASKFORASSISTANCE. My husband is a hobby musician and was beside himself with joy and giddiness as we walked through the narrow entryway. After about an hour of admiring and gawking at the hundreds of hanging guitars, he left with an instrument he has wanted for years — all with the attentive help of Gerry. Also, a brand new case was included with the purchase as well as a few dry jokes and friendly conversation thrown in for good measure. All in all, if you are looking for a top of the line instrument and want to support a local business, leave your feelings at home and visit this one of a kind shop.

I completely agree the previous reviewer. The owner of this store is one of the most disagreeable and unhelpful proprietors I’ve ever dealt with. Back in the mid-80s, my band rented some gear from the shop. It was an unpleasant experience, as the owner was so rude and abrasive. Fast forward over 25 years to a few years ago. Stunningly, the same dude is still running the place! The place has an incredible selection of guitars, but the place is so cramped and cluttered, and the owner such an arrogant troll that I didn’t bother to check anything out. Just to guarantee that I will never EVER return(unless it’s under new management), the owner snarled at my five-year-old son to stop touching a $ 1 plastic whistle that was on the counter in a display bowl! Way to make nice to a child, dude. I felt like hitting him. I can’t believe he is still in business. And trust me, if you ask around, you’ll hear similar stories from just about anyone who’s ever been in there.

after much searching, i found a steel pan for my 10 year old son who was starting lessons with a professor at Berklee College of Music at scituate music co. i was assured that this $ 200 investment would be an appropriate beginner drum and was informed that there was a no return policy if the drum was not satisfactory to the instructor. After one lesson, my son and his teacher had exhausted all that could be taken from the drum. The owner of the shop, a musician himself knew that what he was selling me was not a beginner pan but rather a toy drum. I had explained that i was not a musician and had to rely on his good word to educate me on the merits of the drum. Rather than explain that he did not have a beginner pan to sell, he lied, and in bad faith, he sold me what was nothing more than a very expensive toy. No one, in their right mind should do business with this shop.
